  • Generally this was a mess!

  • For my taste, too fast! Overpedalling caused a bit of mushy sound. But it had a certain excitement, but it needs more clarity and i hated the cuts and the rubato. It sounds much better played strictly, like the orchestra and not with pianist's freedom and rubato which makes it a bit silly really. Sorry!

  • This just does not work at all. You cant condense such a supremely complex orchestral arrangement in to what is basically a piano duet. A piano and oboe or clarinet might 'possibly work' but dont hold your breath..

  • Mistake too much

  • Wow the most impressive thing is that it doesn't fall apart completely what with all the rhythms being totally made-up. It's weird - you've put all that effort into learning the notes but you haven't learnt how the piece goes. It's much better with everything in the right place, believe me.

  • Well, this arrangement is terrible. The cuts are awkward and the rhythm is incorrect in many many sections, the most obvious being the Young Girl's Dance, in which the accents are COMPLETELY misplaced. An abomination if I ever saw one.

  • Hi, great playing! Do you know where to get this sheet music?

  • Great job! In fact I loved it! What sheet music did you use? I'm in high school in Florida and would like to play this piece of music with my friend. -Thanks :)

  • 0:33 asentua antes

  • WOW!!!!! GREAT JOB!!!!!

  • glory in its essence

  • mal

  • Where's the beginning?

  • <:) I listen to this and it brings back so many beautiful memories- especially after 3:12 :)

  • Sounds a bit rushed and the rhythms are wrong :-(

  • Wow!! Thanks for uploading and congratulations!!

  • Love the interpretation of "Dance of the Adolescents!" :DDD

  • Wow! Excellent!

  • this is a gorgeous adaptation.

    nothing but praise here.

  • great job!! I'm so in love with the original version that I didn't think I will like the piano version but you guys sounds awesome!!

  • Oh, and if you don't mind me asking...what is the name of the theme at 3:12?

  • When I was a toddler, my feelings toward this piece was neutral. Then, something happened, I don't know what, and I developed such a terrible phobia of Le Sacre that I lost nearly a decade of sleep, comfort and hope. I wish I could say I was being dramatic.

I am determined to overcome this ridiculous phobia, as a music lover, and your piano playing is helping amazingly...

  • Pretty good... but I've got a friend who's worked out to play it by ear just on his own and i can never believe it.

  • you guys have talent, but I think you need to listen to the piece more and become more familiar with tempos and which sounds are supposed to come out of the texture at what time. It just sounded like you haven't heard enough recordings.

  • Nice job. The Rite of Spring is my favorite musical composition, and as a musician (I play guitar), I've always wanted to learn to perform it on my chosen instrument.

It's inspiring to see that you two did just that.

You two are very talented, don't ever quit playing

  • its very impressive and probably very difficult, but i find it far from beautifull

    (the song itself)

  • amazing! please can you send me this music! i would love to play this :)

  • You guys are great! I can't imagine why all these people just seem to come with no other aim but to be critical. Don't listen to all the negativity and keep it up.

  • All of this bashing of high schoolers makes me uncomfortable. I think they deserve credit just for attempting something so ambitious.

  • Comment removed

  • granted its not identical to the origianl, still a fantastic performance for a couple of high schoolers

  • painfully different from the original. not sure whether it was on purpose or not. either way, unfortunate. listen to a proper version!

  • Stravinsky had no problem with transcriptions and made some himself, including parts of the colorful Petrouchka score for solo piano. Many composers from Bach to the present transcribed their own works for different combinations. Of course we can all listen to the orchestral versions, but why not also enjoy something like this video? Great performance by highly-motivated and talented young people. Keep it up guys!

  • yes, and Stravinsky published a 4-hands piano version of le sacre (the rite). however, what's played in this video is either a really incompetent performance of that version, or an unfortunate and radical reinterpretation that needlessly saps the work of its interest and vibrancy. sorry, guys.

  • fantastic :)

  • I love when it gets to 3:15 ^_^

  • I can't do this...they can.

  • They accented some wrong notes in the young girls dance (0:30). Maybe this lousy arrangement has it wrong, and decided not only to skip large sections of the score, but blatantly alter the ones that were left in.

  • No, I have this arrangement at home. They`re just doing it wrong.

  • Ah, a classic case of nubtitis. Still, the score skips out on major sections of the piece.

  • I wasn't arguing in defense of myself, but in defense of the score. The piano arrangement (at least the one that I have) stays faithful to the orchestral version in terms or rhythm, accents, and structure. Its more likely that they've chosen change it up.

  • I know. I was blaming the performers for incompetence. Also, your arrangement is probably not the same one that they're playing. Normally, good performers don't drastically change the score.

  • I misread your comment, then decided it would only add to the confusion were I to try and correct my post. I have the 1913 Stravinsky tr ascription. I don't know of any others. I think the complex rhythm might have just been too much for these guys...

  • The skips were for the sake of the lousy time limits imposed on music performances for Music at the Higher School Certificate level in NSW (australi)

  • this is cool, aside from the fact they randomly skip HUGE sections

  • Yup :-D

  • but still they are so freakin awesome!

  • skipped the intro ;\

intro is fucking hard, i don't blame them.

  • Bacchanale from John Cage builds up from this piece or is my thought?

  • well, they are probably too young to "design" the piece, but the piano sounds like a whole orchester, impressive for two kids.

  • The general feel of this was incredibly good, considering. It roared with life, whereas there are a lot of professional versions of this which are just weak

  • wow that was some good playing but omg way so fast

  • wait they skipped a whole lot

  • no shite.

  • life likes this piece, full of uncertainty and risks but we must oversome this by our own selves. no one could avoid it.

  • what the heck ? did they read the part right ? toooo fast, lots of trucated notes, some "mozart-ization" in some some.. come on.. Respect Stravinsky !!!!

  • btw i am so glad i chose the musicology essay instead of the performance elective for extension. they essay is the much easier option haha

  • well played. but it sort of sounds really wierd when compared to the actual orchestral version.

  • I thought it was great.

  • lets see yours then

  • People are being really harsh. Aren't these little kids playing? Speaking for myself, I am impressed.

  • Bolender, this is what happens when you give just about anybody with massive egos the power to critique. everybody else thinks they are better or can do better. people who are so starved for attention they cut down somedbody else's legs just to look taller. people who would say just about anything sitting in front of their monitors because they don't risk a punch in the face. i pity them. while the rest of us still enjoy the little things, they can only abhor.

  • 1 more reason to keep up with my piano study. very nice =)

  • wait so is this piece hard? i don't know because i never even tried it before

  • It's not so much "technically challenging" but since it's a 4 hand interpretation of a whole orchestra, the difficulty comes in imitating the specific instruments

  • @Azz9999 Especially the sounds of brass, which is so key in this piece. I think the mellow, warm brass feel was conveyed well enough. The infamous "chord blasts" could be a tad more elegant, I believe. But still, an amazing job. :)

  • @blahblah3299 I would also say that the rhythm of this particular piece would take a while to master. 3/16 time is awkward enough!

  • @meowkie Not to mention 5/4, 5/8, I think there's some 15/16 time, and 5/16!

  • Congratulations guys! Anyone who even tries this piece deserves praise. You're both far better players than I'll ever be.

  • Tempo and rhythm are a bit off, but for two people playing STRAVINSKY in HIGH SCHOOL, it can't be helped, now can it. I get a bit carried away myself.

    GREAT JOB!

  • not such a shock at SYDNEY HIGH SCHOOL!!

    WOOHOO GO US!
