I don't think that we should be allowing FOX to maintain what's canon, since they decided to cut it off without any closure or finality.

I reckon Serenity should be considered Canon as it is a fairlöy decent sendoff to something that only just got started and was brutally cut off from getting to speed.

Serenity may not have been made by fox but it sure as fuck gave Firefly some closure, and I'd rather Wash dead than have a show hanging limply in cancellation.

@TheLemonGrenade Give me a break, I was trying my best to cheer up just one of Firefly's many heartbroken fans with a little roundabout logic and self-delusion (hell, I could be in a religion). I know FOX shouldn't be considered an authourity on Firefly for obvious reasons and Serenity is a close to closure as we're going to get since the show was axed but is it too much to ask for us to believe that one of the best character could still live?

@randomface54 I just worry that by trying to raise peoples' spirits you're raising their hopes, and that is gonna lead them only to a bigger fall when the truth hits home.

I reckon it'd just be best for us ALL if we accepted the fact that firefly got an ending at all, rather than just being cut off in limbo, and be happy that a series which we all agree ended too soon recieved the effort it takes to end something before it's meant to.

If they wanted to keep the door open, Wash would have lived

@TheLemonGrenade The only way series like this can truly end is when the crew breaks apart or they reach the conclusion of some series-long mission (good example being ST Voyager when they returned to the Alpha Quadrant). Besides, you underestimate the human capacity for self-delusion, just look at religion.

But you're right. It's a pity that junk like Andromeda got so many seasons, while a gem like Firefly was cut short. I think Fox's decision to play the episodes out of order, and a bad time slot was the problem.

@DaniDuck Unfortunatly as much of a Whedon fan as I am ya gotta admit Dollhouse sucked or the most part. Alpha (surprise surprise!) and Topher and Adelle were great. Eliza Dushku cannot lead anything though because she is an appaling actress with all the charisma of a beanbag. So it riles me that it got a 2nd series whatever the reason, if they were truly sorry about Firefly, why not give it another go? It had the best actors of any of his shows and would've probably been his greatest work :(
