  • Lol a GT35 for 400hp? Thats no where near their efficiency range. Why didnt you go with something like a GT2876r? Or even a GTX3071r double ball bearing? Both spool faster, would easily meet your goal, and be able to build more power if you wanted. Overkill if you ask me.

  • @zero2skater2forever true. there is a bit of delay for the power im kicking out now. i have a 3 bar map sensor to install and get the boost up to 24PSI, but ive been busy. So shes got potential i havent tapped into yet.

  • hey rob.. can you make a video about how to choose turbo"s with the GRaf your talking about?

Thank you Noswolf out! plz repson

  • But Rob....

    nvm lol

  • Rather than front and rear turbo I think you're referring to the primary (smaller one which spools up first) and secondary turbo charger.

  • @Nymphetamine2791 Right, its been a while since ive wrenched on them. Ive since forgotten which is which. The exhaust manifold makes it really easy to tell which is the low end turbo.

  • Stock twins are lulz

  • Really Clean Hands LOL

  • Things to help spool up a big turbo. Special turbo grind camshafts that are aftermarket, Anti Surging a turbo helps, Not going to big on a tb doesnt really help a spool up but helps on low end hp which you want a lot of if you have a big turbo.

  • @JBMSTRIKER71 yeah man. some sick special grind turbo camshafts for rotary

  • LOL my bad man. I dont even own a 1.3l rotary. I have a double over head cam 420a eclipse with the GT3582R turbo homie.

  • @JBMSTRIKER71 i bet you do buddy.

  • Hey dude Look me up on dsm tuners brian o conner 420a turboed. I have spent over 15k in parts

  • In the video you said the right turbo (the bigger turbo) comes on first. HUH??

  • @cxbra no small turbo comes on first, second kicks in around 5000rpm. You feel the transition in a stock FD. It's subtle but definitely there.

  • Great video. I like the stock turbines off the 99-2002's. They were alot more efficient than the earlier models and so were their engines. I've seen alot of 7's while living in Japan and I was very happy to be able to see the last (Bathrust and Spirit R) roll off the line during my stay there. Great cars.

  • @emerciv i have a BONE stock 94 fd touring. IF i buy a garrett gt35r turbo kit could i take to a tuning shop and get it installed without any exhaust manifold or othe exhaust or engine mods? ****PLZ RESPOND!****

  • @capsaresthebest if the kit included: upgraded ECU, larger fuel rails, bigger fuel pump, wideband O2 sensor, etc. the single turbo massively requires an overhaul of the engine bay. its sadly not a drop in upgrade.

  • @emerciv this may sound stupid... but anyways..

could u stick in a smaller turbo for low rpm and a massive 1 for high rpms?

OR a supercharger and a big turbo?

  • @markowina The quick answer to that is yes. The longer answer is: it isnt as efficient in the same budget. The thing about your first question is, the larger turbo would need energy to spool up before it begins producing boost. that is being used on the small turbo at low range. it would create a boost lag. But, if you spent thousands of dollars on the best equipment, its possible to be higher performance than a medium sized single.

  • @emerciv thx a lot :)

  • Gt35 non ballbearing is at 10 psi around 3000rpm with a good tune. Tuning split ignition timing properly will dictate how fast it hits in the end, LOVE THEM ROTARYS

  • the hitachi twin turbo system though that's in the stock 13b turbo, 2jz, and the last generation 300zx motor is a really sweet concept only if there was some way to modify it, since companies don't offer better replacement parts (ball bearing, anti-surge port, billet wheel, different style blades, etc.), it could be an awesome set up.

  • hey dude, what RPM range does the gt35r kick in?

  • Those are JC Cosmo twin turbos on the floor, not FD twins. FD twins have 4 studs for the downpipe, Cosmos have a 3-bolt downpipe and different manifold that pre-dates the FD by 18 months

  • why pick a single turbo over twins? simple, more power , reliability, sounds better, easier to work on

  • O an u cant run a good fuel upgrade with ur stock e.c.u go with the power fc I love it

  • @rx7boy99 u need to do a fuel upgrade for a turbo upgrade I have my fd twin runing non sig. Look on rx7club.com for any info u need on ur 7

  • Great explanation :)! What's the A/R ratio on the turbo you have right there? And how does it work for you?

  • good video for guys who dont know much about the rotary and why to switch to a single turbo to help w/ reliability. altho they better know ALL the rest of the mods to go along with to keep reliability lol

  • HAHAHAHAHA "look at how smallllllllllllll it is"

  • Okay so I've got a 94 Rx7 it's stock and came with twin turbos I took the engine out and I rebuild it the engine is pretty much new I put new seals, apexi seals, etc all the seals that you can think of to rebuild now I want to replace my twins to a GT35R just like yours stock motor with a GT35R turbo is that possible I can switch my twins to single without hurting the motor..... Please reply thxs bro....

  • how much did u buy the engine for?

  • @takis659 crazy story. some company put an extended warranty on the car when i bought it. It blew and i got it replaced for the deductible. Im not sure.

  • @emerciv How'd it blow?

  • Nice video,I'm sure theres gonna be somebody trying to challenge you in a battle of wits,Thats the problem with the internet know matter how much more you know theres gonna be someone that knows nothing about tuning trying to challenge you,you know what your talking about so fuck those people when they bring it.

  • i have handmade exhaust 76mm without catalyte...can i install the gt35r without buying a bigger exhaust?

  • @RX7GANGSTERS I hooked my downpipe from my gt35r kit to the stock sized exhaust mid pipe.

  • Just saying but t66 is probly the most common an you didnt say it DEVO!

  • Yeah my bros FD had stock twins , street port with apexi ecu and he just blew the turbo seals in matter of couple 100 miles he was running 20 psi and just pushing out 420 hbp at the wheels.

  • yea i got t78 on my fc3s and man its so laggy

  • i lol'd so much when you said "those bastards" hahaha

nice rex mate, hopefully have mine out again after another transformation!

  • I heard you say " stock 93 rx7" Im assuming you still have stock ports?

  • @hotwheelz28 yeah stock core 13b. no porting or anything else on the block. :-)

  • @emerciv I still have stock ports and i will put the gt35r on as well....im curious what whp you got out of your set-up.. Also what size injectors do you have?

  • @hotwheelz28 i have 550s in the front and 1680s in the rear. why? for smooth idle and then max flow as well. i had to redo my entire fuel system, so its a go big or go home situation. i have no idea actual RWHP. :-P right now my wastegate is limiting my boost to 15 psi. and its a strong 15 PSI.

  • Did u only change the turbocharger ??

  • Whats the welded piece on top of the turbo? ive never seen something like it. thanks.

  • @MrChawk81 it was put on there, because... it makes my life easier. i was able to use my old intercooler pipes with the new setup. I love my Blitz FMIC and it mated up almost perfectly with that bend.

  • the only thing i see as a drawback on a lot of single turbo setups i see on rx7s is that the turbo exhaust to the fmic always takes a sharp near 90 degree bend. some ppl creat nice piping work but here i'm seeing an abrupt bend.

  • good video, i subbed.

  • Good explanation for someone talking to themselves lol. I think it's a good choice drivability and performance wise.

  • what did u dont to the fd also?

  • why does your turbo intake look smaller then my 35r? >.>

  • I am really interested in a gt35r for my rx7 and I was just wondering at what rpm do you get boost?

  • I'm really interested in putting a gt35r on my rx7 and was just wondering at what rpm you get boost at?

  • Turbo CHURGUR!

  • Man, you have just convinced me to stop mucking about and upgrade my system to a single. I bought a Borg Warner s300sx. Hopefully she runs as well as yours

  • @Galahorn ive heard good things about the BW 300 series.

  • @emerciv get a T51r :P

  • Congrats on the single setup! I'm still stuck with my twins, and the boosting issues....Sigh*

  • but rob.......why use a gt35r? lol jk good vid bud

  • @tmoneyRX7 lmao. funny

  • Well done! Very helpful! Think of going gt35r on my Tibby!

  • you made it a bit to dificult....bigger is better!!! lol i want a gt35r when my twins blow up again...hmm so that wont take long!!!

  • @rotarycorvette1 I just love to hear myself talk ;-)

I actually had a hard on for the RX6 apexi turbo but it was too small. So is the T04E for my taste. And I really hate the idea of lag. Yuck.

  • @emerciv

ive got my intercooler flat mounted right next to my turbo and i have zero lag on my t04z

  • @LaTeRaLuSaEnImA that sexy. i have one of the largest FMICs so im sure that introduces some level of lag. but its minimal. im very pleased with my gt35r. never would i suggest stock twins. im sure with the t04z you are enjoying it too.

  • @emerciv yea bro hard! does the meanest skids
