  • Over the years I have learned that Im better off adding salt and lepper at the table,

    I dont know why but for some reason it never seems to be the correct amount that the person eating the eggs would like.

    Yet when they add the salt/pepper themselves they always get it right.

  • Excellent recipe. I tend to go with Turkey Bacon as its heathier in the fat arena. Great upload Betty!

  • Hi Betty. I am a nutritionist. For a better breakfast, I would say to cut out the bacon. If that is not possible, replace them with leaner cold meat like turkey breast slices. Replace coffee with a wonderful orange juice. Use whole wheat instead of white wheat bread. Finally, opt for wonderful herbe de provence spices rather than salt. And include one portion of fruits. It is more healthy and less greasy. And you will feel more energetic because fat takes a long time to digest.

  • Fry bacon first. Then fry the eggs in the bacon grease. And that's southern.

  • Hi Betty. Thank you for all of your great recipes. I've always had a question about why you always cook on the back burner vs the front burners. Not criticising you, just wondering =)

  • @ga1999 I would just rather any splatter go on the back wall, rather than me (or the floor).  The back wall is the same material as the countertop, so it is easily washable. That's all!

  • One tip I can share to ensure that the 'top' of the egg is perfectly cooked without the need for flipping it is to set the stove-top on high heat. Crack an egg into the pan with the right amount of oil (usually a teaspoon); actually less, if you're working with a rather 'new' non-stick pan. Then just as the white has turned fully solid, immediately turn down the heat to 'low', and let the egg to continue cooking until the.. well.. 'slime'... up on top has a chance to cook all the way through.

  • @bobwatters I don't think I broke a yoke1 Maybe it was the lighting, but they normally are white. I think bacon grease is a less healthy choice than some other options for cooking eggs. Thanks for commenting!

  • @bettyskitchen For me when I cook the eggs I drain most of the bacon grease out but just leave a glaze of it so the eggs wont stick :)

  • Hi Betty! This wonderful classic is what we Brits call a 'Full English'. The pairing of bacon and eggs is without doubt one of history's greatest achievements. Excellent vid... as always.

  • Every morning during school, i cooked fried eggs like that too and ate with steamed rice! Since I'm Asian, i eat rice for breakfast, lunch in dinner! Our main source of grain! :D

  • This breakfast looks like something out of a really nice diner! It looks so nice and something i dream about waking up to! I love fried eggs and I would eat that just not the bacon since it's not kosher, but very well done and you still look just as lovely.... you should make a book one day and i know people would buy it.... especially me!

  • i like soft scrambled eggs but i like frying the bacon so i can use the bacon fat to cook my eggs

  • My husband doesn't want his eggs runny at all, so I cook them all the way when I make scrambled eggs; it's just a matter of taste. I avoid frying the eggs in bacon fat. It tastes better, but I think it has more saturated fat. Again, it's just a matter of what you like! Thanks for your lovely comment!

  • Lots of people leave out the seasoning, and add what they like at the table. We have just gotten used to adding salt while cooking--it's actually much healthier to avoid salt! Thanks for the comment!
