  • Best Bob track for me.

  • One of the best!

  • What a beautiful song. Dylan is such a poet.

  • ~♪♫~A beautiful bleak ‘n daRk blues’ sOng from Bob, with rays of glaRing light, when Your sun burst’s in rockin 2 frighten ‘n briGhten my night, much to my delight!!! (’tis but another 1 of a series of dreams of mine true, but I love u 2). THANK YOU SO MUCH♥BOB♥DYLAN♥blues, you are the brightest shining star with your ever glaring Light that would light up the darkest of nights. Bob Dylan, we are lucky, because you will be rockin us forever, thank you!~♪♫~

  • When I'm feeling like life is using me as a bedpan this song/album always sounds better to me.

  • Thank-you Bob for giving me a song to comfort my soul when I'm knocking on heaven's door.

  • beautifullbeautifull.makes me always think of my wife who died for over 5 years now.thank you so much Bob.

  • I guess it shows you dont need to have an amzing voice to get across amazing messages.

    good job

  • @Massochism i don't know about you but this is the most beautiful voice i have ever heard --always has been and always will be

  • @lkuwaeoirNWEOUIAWNER Yeah it is pretty amazing but he doesnt need a good voice anyway hes a genius

  • .what eles can you say. this is why he`s the best

  • wow

  • This track appears rather underrated given that it exhibits a high degree of excellence. Initially, it’s a fine track which, on further listening we become aware of a special golden magic, from which, we may conclude that this is probably one of the finest tracks that we’ll ever encounter in the music world. It’s an infusion of everything special in quality music. Vocally blends and infuses well with the superb music. Globally, this track can be regarded as one of Bob Dylan’s finest masterpieces

  • Beautiful to see this phase of Dylan's creative output. "I was born here and I'll die here...against my will"...Artists search for their edge, this is the maturre blend , succinct and humorous, mellow, seamless writing

  • The greatest song writer of alltime,he is on a par with Keats, and Shakespeare, the words are poetry. The little white wonder.

  • The man is timeless. He will be writing incredible music until we lose him, and we will remember his music for eternity. Once again he has touched my soul as he has done for the last fourty five years. I just wait for what will be next.

  • Thats so fucking beautiful

  • Seems that Dylan has recorded an elegiac song in every decade....Restless Farewell in the 60's, Knockin on Heaven's Door in the 70's, Dark Eyes and especially Every Grain of Sand in the 80's, and this in the 90's. No one else can write about mortality with a poetry that is so immortal.

  • The superb lyrics sail ingeniously and smoothly ensconced in a tranquil, silken flow of music. This track is worthy of a respectable place in the charts. It would be absolutely fitting for this to be so. Especially now that a number of this artist's fans have entered or are in the sunset phase of their lives and some may have embarked on a journey beyond our beautiful world, it would bring a certain special tranquility to this great legend's astonishingly brilliant career.

  • beautiful

  • a more perfect song for those out of work and facing the abyss in America

  • Perfect song for the twilight overcast winter skies above my head right now

  • @SummerSkyO This song reminds me of how close the darkness is.

  • One of his most beautiful songs. On one of his most beautiful albums. Thanks Bob.

  • Bob Dylan sempre tem uma musica para meus dias.. love so much *-*

  • This is the sort of magic that this artist is capable of. When there may have been an element of doubt and long held suspicion that the spring of creativity may have long been polluted and ceased to flow, we hear a serene tranquillity, the trickle turns to a flow. The dazzling brilliance and sparkling magic of the bright summer sun cascading through the canopy of trees and leaves, spilling into the magic spring of creativity as the long hot summer’s day enters the golden sunset phase. Superb!!!!

  • @TheHitDetector nice and true...thank you...

  • its not dark... but its getting there., behine every beautiful thing theres been sum kind of pain....i been down on the bottle of a world full of lies...i ant looking for nothing in anyones eyes...i can t even remember wot it was ..i came here to get away from...don t even here the murrmar of a friend.....truely priceless stuff man...but when it is dark..he wood have pulled the trigger and he will be in peace..

  • @aceboy723 down on the bottom * murmur of a prayer* and why would he have pulled the trigger?

  • @conoradair41 SO GOOD...BEAUTIFUL...SEE THE OLD MAN IN PERSON IF POSSIBLE...SOON...GONE!!! T.T

  • Dziękuuję Bob Dylan pieknie ,pozdrawiam cie .

  • it was pure gold

  • And thus ends the song... (sob) |

"I was born here and I’ll die here against my will

I know it looks like I’m moving, but I’m standing still

Every nerve in my body is so vacant and numb

I can’t even remember what it was I came here to get away from

Don’t even hear a murmur of a prayer

It’s not dark yet, but it’s getting there."

  • Behind every beautiful thing there's been some kind of pain. lol

  • Video Response: "Last Thoughts on Woody Guthrie" is very good.

  • dudes singing sounds so funny im doubled over in laughter.

  • @doriaR1 Then why do you bother?

  • @doriaR1 your comment was so funny im doubled over in adness that someone can be so stupid. fuck you , you piece of shit!

  • @MrPernell27 Why bother about someone who promotes nail polish on her channel, as I said to her, how silly can you be then?

  • @doriaR1 Yes that is what we expect from someone who promotes nail polish on her channel, how stupid can you be?

  • So poignant, and as Dylan has said, you take away what you want from his lyrics.

In times in pain in my life I find that Dylan, like other poets is able to produce the words to bring comfort.

  • The best song ever written about aging.

  • I was born here and I'll die here against my will

I know it looks like I'm movin' but I'm standin' still

Every nerve in my body is so naked and numb

I can't even remember what it was I came here to get away from

Don't even hear the murmur of a prayer

It's not dark yet but it's gettin' there.

  • Well, I've been to London and I been to gay Paris

I've followed the river and I got to the sea

I've been down on the bottom of the world full of lies

I ain't lookin' for nothin' in anyone's eyes

Sometimes my burden is more than I can bear

It's not dark yet but it's gettin' there.

  • Well, my sense of humanity has gone down the drain

Behind every beautiful thing there's been some kind of pain

She wrote me a letter and she wrote it so kind

She put down in writin' what was in her mind

I just don't see why I should even care

It's not dark yet but it's gettin' there.

  • Probably the greatest songwriter EVER , of all time!!!! Thank you Bob Dylan! Perfection!

Shadows are fallin' and I've been here all day

It's too hot to sleep and time is runnin' away

Feel like my soul has turned into steel

I've still got the scars that the sun didn't heal

There's not even room enough to be anywhere

It's not dark yet but it's gettin' there.

  • @krisxor It pains me to see that you are completely missing the point.

  • un pienso en ty donde quiera que estoy

algun dia nos curaremos en alguna playa de tus charruas

  • Every time i hear this song i tell myself "Self, This man will write the score to the end of the world and will find away to make something so tragic be beautiful."

  • @Skyedward1313 , YOU have written the most magnificent phrase, anyone could ever write about Dylan! well done, Most exceptional, Very well done sir! Your words are one of the most perfect things I've ever read in my life!

  • @djoe1961 Cheers : )

  • @Skyedward1313 that's one of the best things I'v ever read and it fits no one more perfectly than Mr. Bob Dylan. Thank you

  • @MrPernell27 Cheers : )

  • @Skyedward1313 this is one of the most beautiful comments I have ever red on a video here on You Tube. Nuf said.

  • @DirkjeA thank you.

  • I play this song over and over and over and i listen to every word and.every note. One of the best songs ever written.

  • I'm very happy he's still with us. He wrote some of his best music after he turned 50.

  • LOVE BOB! LOVE THE SONG!

  • Have a look to this video ... 'Not dark yet"...

  • beautiful

  • Such a soft, soulfull song, I'm sitting here in a coffee shop in San Diego Ca., and this is giving me goose bumps. I'll be 63 on the 30th of this month and Bob Dylan still twists and pulls at my emotions with his songs. He seams to be able say everything I wish I could put down into words. Now, who are the twelve people who said that they didn't like this song? Do they have wax build up in thier ears or just fuzz on thier brains? You just got love this song. Love your show. Thanks.

  • @ride2wheeled twists and pulls ones emotions...I couldn't have put it better . this shot is for you

  • @ride2wheeled The twelve are all under 25 I'm sure....

  • @ride2wheeled

    definitely a sublime masterpiece...

  • @ride2wheeled extra fuzz on the brain plus wax build

  • SInce '63 - me and Mr. D

    :)

  • "Feel like my soul has turned into steel

I’ve still got the scars that the sun didn’t heal

There’s not even room enough to be anywhere"

Whenever I hear these lines, tears come to my eyes. Such deep and desperate words... You must be so honest to yourself to even think of putting these words in a song!

  • Dylan is the man!

  • @krisxor Harsh, man.

  • I can't decide who i like better young Dylan or old Dylan.

  • @shotgunn7 I love both, he sings with so much soul and it's from the heart. I know he has touched mine in so many ways.

  • @shotgunn7 Dylan, young and old.

  • @shotgunn7 its hard to think of them as one person right? so many dylans...

  • @MarianoJurda like yourself

  • @MarianoJurda and so many of you

  • @shotgunn7 I have decided, Bob is the better.

  • He touches my soul

  • Why do his videos have hardly a million views and lady gaga has 20 million views. How wrong is this world? And why are his videos most popular among 30 and 40 year olds. WAKE UP people, everyone should watch and listen to the greatest artist of all time!

  • my favourite song of all time

  • Such a gorgeous, heartfelt song

  • A soul I wish I'd had the opp to know ..guess i won't maybe someday..lovely way to make me FEEL I do with this song appreciate it bobby!

  • @krisxor I prefer Dylan over Rihanna, Bieber & Co too, but it's not necessary to be so negative. Let's show some compassion and love, not hatred. Rather saying you don't like Rihanna, say that you like B. Dylan. Always say what you love, not what you hate. :-)

  • you just gave me an idea for a song and some lyrics. thanks

  • Shame that while Dylan fought so hard against commercialization and inequality, his music is being played after commercials and more commercials here on vevo.

  • @KennelTube I think we can get on pal.

  • dylans not glyans

  • this shows that gylans music is angelicly grooven ,even stealin a lil line that u wish i wrote sge wrote me a letter part well sometimes you like a line in a poem or song you hav to bestill into ur own way, love it

  • dylan è sempre dylan!!!!

  • I love him... stop

  • D ++++++++++++++++++++++++++

    amei.

  • D ++++++++++++++++++++++++++

    ame.

  • If Shakespeare were down to his last word.. If Rembrandt were down to his last brush of hue.. would you not prostrate yourself before them? If Venus appeared with arms and lips perched for your kiss, if Mother Mary accepted you as you are.. would you not bend low to accept.. Go see Bob as he is, and expect nothing else, for he will soon be gone, and there is no one else...

  • @independencemp3 Soooooooooo true. When he does go not yet please...they should have a Bob Dylan day every year after. The dross that is being spewed out from these so called "talent" shows will be long forgotten by the end of the month. Bobby will go on 'til the stars go out. People should appreciate him NOW, 'cos in the words of Joni, you dont know what you got til its gone.

  • Words i dont have them.

  • Going to see this man live tomorrow for the first time in my 15 years.

I cannot even begin to believe it. Thank you bobby for the music , it just doesn't get any better than this

  • @Lanallaby I saw him a month ago. Although he didn't sound as I expected (he was actually barking his songs), it was great to see the legend live. I hope you'll enjoy the show.

  • @kapuram Oh I was absolutely enthralled !! He was magical. I wasn't expecting twenty year old Dylan on stage and was actually pleasantly surprised. He was positively brilliant, his voice still got me going and he was rocking this black hat and suit! Ahhhh i'm still on a high, i love him i love him i love him, i cried like three times. He even did this like dance move on Thunder on the Mountain. Haha sorry for gushing on and on but ahhh

  • @Lanallaby - I like his dance too!

  • "12 don't like" LOL...

  • One of my favorite songs...

  • one of my favourite Dylan tracks.

  • this is bob dylan, no bells and whistles needed, love his voice and his words.

  • 12 people need to die

  • Bob Dylan is someone who has inspired me throughout my life.

  • This is beyond words...just don't get any better

  • JFK R.I.P

  • I must confess, the more times I hear this song the more often the question comes to my mind, how will I handle that day when I hear Bob is no longer with us? It may be ridiculous, but I think it will hit me harder than when I lost each of my parents.

  • As hard as this is to decide, I believe this is one of my favorite Dylan's songs. It is just a gorgeous song but so sad.

  • For a better world, thanks Bob

  • Thanks Bob..IT WAS mighty fine Thanks.....

  • @poolshark101386 the hell? You scared the shit out of me :(

  • best song ever written

  • not sure what to say to a man that is the most influential man in music, at least from our generation but Thank you :)

  • One of the saddest songs of all time. One of the best albums I've ever heard.

  • 10 dislikes, 583818 views... WOAH

  • Gonna see HIM on the 9th of Nov .... cant wait!!! He has shaped my tastes in music for the past ... uh... 48 years... oh boy He's the Master !

  • No le es necesario tener una gran voz, todo lo hace con sus hermosas melodías y letras, Citando a Jerry Garcia: "Dylan ha escrito canciones que tocan lugares de la mente a los que nadie antes había llegado"

  • Classic song from the Hibbing Messenger, Robert Allen Zimmerman. Thanks for posting!

  • Can't wait to see you on the 11th Oct Bob. It'll be mighty fine I'm sure...

  • Relaxing

  • i don't think he really knew... and i'm not sure he does now... how much of a difference or impact he made on SO many people... what a beautiful soul.

  • @ApolloniaCorleone72 I agree. After the deaths of my husband and father, both last year. I've been rediscovering Bob Dylan. His music and lyrics have brought me so much comfort I know he has touched me.

  • Make You Feel My Love is a Dylan tune from Time out of Mind. However it has been covered by a few artists. The orignal is his.

  • Does anyone know of bob dylan's make you feel my love that isn't a cover by some one else? I want to see his version

  • One of Bob's very best with prophetic lyrics, as now it IS dark.

Such a simple and laid back delivery: no musical gimmicks here.

"Every nerve in my body is so vacant and numb

I can’t even remember what it was I came here to get away from..."

  • and no he is still alive and righting must be the words best song righter story teller of all time and he changed the world with his vision long live Bob Dylan

  • this is a song for dead to sleep in peace for ever love this song kick ass bob

  • I like the subtle shrieks of the fingers sliding along the chord progression.

  • The greatest poet songwriter and muscician that ever graced gods earth - get on with it man !

  • I love ti when certain people try to say Dylan's best work was before he went electric, or before his motorcycle accident, or when he was in his folk rock glorry of the mid 1970s. Truth to me is that each period of Dylan's music has produced gems and this is the gem off of Time Out of Mind. I would even go as far as saying Working Man Blues from Modern Times and Precious Angel from Slow Train Coming are as good as anything else he has done.

  • it's not dark yet yes it is

  • beautiful song made me cry

  • It will be a very dark day when this man crosses over. I just hope he's standing there beside my husband and daddy when it comes my time to go. In a way, that is a comforting thought.

  • @Katragew Bob Dylan isn't dead is he? if so when did he die.

  • @leooberg no, god, no...I was just saying it WILL be a dark day!

  • @leooberg -- Hell no he is not dead!!! And besides legends never die!!

  • May thee Light forever shine on BoB..Amen

  • @MsAnnestube Bob is not dead.

  • Montesgirl. A tatoo won't help. Wear it in your heart. It will stay there.

  • Mr. Dylan, all I can say is thank you. I have been rediscovering your music this past year after the deaths of my husband and father, both last year. Your music and poetry have gotten me thru many a dark hour. I was spiritually touched by your performance in Kettering, OH August 5th. God Bless You, sir. Keep on keeping on until you can't no more.

  • my daughter asked me to explaine bob dylan, i told her you don't explaine bob dylan, he's bob dylan. besides if you need to have me to explaine, you wouldn't understand any way.

  • "Behind every beautiful thing, there's been some kind of pain."

I want that as a tattoo when I'm old enough.

  • I want this song at my funeral...

  • Sometimes I can't wait for the darkness of death to relieve the pain of life!
