There is no use for the water and boats.

All you need is:

6 blocks

3 redstone

1 repeater

2 redstone torches

sticky piston

furnace  to create a BUD switch.

At first I was like WTF, then when I saw the boat I remembered that water would update itself when any block around it changed, and furnace changed from off to on.
