It is such a shame how little footage there is of Randy Rhoads. I have searched for years and found very little. Man, we were all robbed when he died.
20th row and this was my 1st concert ever. Opened with over the mountain. The lights came on to Aldridge busting out with that drum intro to RR tearing into it and it was INCREDIBLE how big it sounded. A couple years later after RR left us I was talking to an older kid that also went to the show. I told told him I was frustrated I couldn't' remember much about Randy and was sad because he was gone. The kid said he was incredible, that he completely overplayed on top of and through Ozzy.
In my opinion, if it weren't for Randy, Ozzy would have been done after Sabath. I never was able to see him live but I skipped enough school learning every lick of those solos. He truly inspired me to play guitar. I miss those days!
Very sad to hear this, I was already to buy tickets for the Toronto show I was so jacked to see Randy , then the accident, I did see the concert on Friday June 13 Diary of Madman tour, great show but there was something missing obviously ,
Randy was better then Van Halen prob the best metal guitarist of his time !!
I live in NJ and have been to the old Capitol Theatre many times. Had tickets for Blizzard tour but got punished for bad grades. The Capitol theatre filmed every show that played there. Where it is I have no idea but I guarantee Ozzy's show at the Capitol in May of 81 was filmed.
I was at a concert in Cardiff, wales in 1981 and was standing fornt row only five feet in front of Randy. I can still remember the huge growl of his Marshall stack to this day, awesome!! I,ve been a drummer for thirty years and I've always dabbled with guitar and for the last five years I,ve been singing and playing guitar in a band. Guess what guitar rig I HAD to buy last July - yep the Marshall Randy Rhoads signature amp and matching cab. Thats how much of an influence he had, and has on me!
I just had to get one as soon as I heard they were gonna make them! I sold my Jeff beck strat, my Marshall 50 watt head and cab and a Fender 75 reissue jazz bass to get the amp and matching white cab. Some things you just gotta have!! You can still get hold of them here in the UK- in fact, a shop near me has one in right now for £1,280.00
Man I hate seeing this stage. I think he passed 1 or 2 weeks before they were to play Nashville. So I got to see Brad Gillis fill his spot. If there is any question about his greatness listen to his playing on this song. F@#K!
Why the bass? Randy is the best part of the song(Or any Ozzy song, I only listened to Ozzy because I heard some of his stuff and said "Who the hell is playing guitar?! He's the best!!!")
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Ozzy sucks, Randy made the Legacy for Ozzy once he died they went Oh shit what do we do now? Then Jake finished the Legacy for them and they shit Jake out Ozzys crap.
The guitar players are bigger than life and still are.
People will disagree...but I agree...I am not a huge fan of Ozzy, because he can't write lyrics really, Bob Daisly wrote Ozzy's stuff, and yet still consider this a "Solo" career...It's a band, bassist writes, guitarist writes, singer hums the melody...and when Randy left though, Ozzy's magic and life in his songs went, especially in Randy's stuff when other guitarists play it...it's all vain...it's Randy's...Ozzy's guitarists, all of them are incredible...but Randy...is the one and only...
H'ah, yeah, I thought for sure while typing this that someone would be all "What do you fuckin' know?! Ozzy wrote it all!"...I know people were thinking that...I mean...someone I know thought Ozzy played the Guitar parts for "his" shit...which I think if that was the case...Sabbath would've been intense...
Ozzy ain't much different than a number of other solo artists who don't write their own material and rely on talented musicians to back them up. Ozzy has a great ear for associating himself with the right talent, which itself is a talent.
@TwilightZoneBand I just saw Ozzy last Saturday when he played Bogotá. I was dead center, 3 guys and an girl away from him. Would it have been better to see him with Randy? Unarguably, yes. But that's not the way things happened. It was great to see the old man hand in there and put on a great show. I've seen his inteviews and he's always thankful for the musicians that have been with him. Ozzy rocked!
Excuse me! Ozzy not a good lyricists? Yes Daisley helped on a few songs as did Geezer in earlier years but Ozzy wrote the majority of his songs and is clearly noted in history for being if anything one of the greatest lyricists of all time! Also I do not know if I should of taken your comment seriously due to the fact you could not spell Bob's name? As far as Ozzy's career ending after Diary of a Madman I say come out from under the rock from which you live. Wake up and smell the coffee.
