  • I have a les paul that I wanna sand, remove laquer, remove finish to the bare wood.. my question is if I sand the binding too, how will I be able to keep it there? I mean it's the top layer of wood that I think is the binding, but I want to repaint it to black from the current blue, how would I keep the binding? Just tape the white part like here?

  • Like a surgeon working! nice paint job and that white is awesome.

  • Hey Freddy, at this stage had the colour coat already been sanded flat? Or do you just achieve a super smooth finish right out of the spray booth and feel it not necessary to sand so move straight on to clear coats? Amazing work by the way, love the vids keep em coming!

    Thanks LPBurst!

That's raw paint out of the booth, no sanding.

  • @FreddysFrets Nice! Wish mine came out of the booth like that. Mine almost always have a bit of orange peel or small imperfections that need to be dealt with prior to clear nitro coats, which is always a pain. I'll have to try this masking technique next time I do binding, seems a lot less hassle than scraping. Thanks.
