Goof Troop looked fairly interesting and different from the rest. I don't have any experience with it; is it worth a play at all? Better in 2-player mode? Great video, once again. Game Sack: the best infotainment out there!
What?! Aladdin's music in the Genesis sounds horrible? Were we not listening to the same thing? It's one of the better sounding games on the Genesis! And it's not just me saying it, many other reviewers agree (IGN Retro reviews, Clan of the Gray Wolf 16-Bit Gems, vgmuseum, to name a few). Only saying this 'cause I like your videos, they are very informative and fun, but that one just struck a nerve so I would like an explanation as to why you think the genesis rendition of the music sounds bad.
@MegaManiacZX The chosen instruments are poor and sound tinny and very thin. Also, very few instruments are used making the song as a whole sound thin. The melodies themselves are very good, they are just not represented well here. The non-movie music sounds even worse as they don't have the power of melody to back them up. Just listen as he flies through the cave on that rug! It sounds worse than an NES. The Genesis sound is capable of so much more.
@MrGameSack I understand what you're saying and you're probably right, but even so, I think these renditions, even if somewhat basic, are far from horrible and fit the game very well - even the rug ride music you mentioned is a pretty good track. Anyway, thanks for answering my question. Hope to see more of your videos.
Nice vid as always. I just think that you kind of did not do the Illusion games on SMS justice. Personally I think Land is the 2nd best in the entire series after World, and Castle of Illusion is just as good on SMS as its 16-bit counterpart.
Especially Land was praised a lot in mags at the time, probably the last AAA-title for the SMS in Europe, even outperforming World in some mags.
As for Capcom: I like their games, but they kind of never got the Disney Charm as authentic as Sega imo.
You are out of your mind!! Castle of Illusion for the Master System was NO WHERE near as good as the Genesis version.. I never wanted the Genesis version to end whereas I couldn't wait to shut off the Master System version. The Master System version lacked the spirit of the Genesis version.
@Zeldaschampion "Did" is the more accurate term. I do create music for Game Sack here and there if I feel I need music from a particular game represented (and I have time).
@MrGameSack Oh really. What user name did you go under so I can look what you made. I've been recently downloading from there and adding stuff to my Zune.
this is my current fav of all of my Youtube subscriptions. I grew up in this era of gaming, and remember that my genesis came with a pack in poster with all of the hottest games. That included Michael Jackson's Moonwalker, Streets of Rage, and Mickey Mouse Land of Illusion. This vid bought back so much nostalgia :D
Those Illusion games are awesome. I've played them before but I really need to buy them for myself. After I get a new Mega Drive controller that doesn't suck because it's so short that I have to hunch over the console propped up on a box.... Third-party controllers.... Geez. Too bad the first-party ones cost a lot.
I'm from the future, and I think it was really screwed up that Disney packaged their Skynet distributed computing modules on the Blu-Ray release of Aladdin. With that many PS3s powering it, the complete destruction of the human race was unstoppable.
Great show guys! My favorite is Quackshot, closely followed by Duck Tales. I LOVE the music and platforming action in both games, and I was also a big Duck Tales fan!
I thought Quackshot and Chip N' Dale Rescue Rangers were going to get more love but you guys nailed it on your praise for Castle of Illusion, that is one of the best platformers ever made.
Fantasia was a awful... Paid somewhere 25USD back then, but managed to complete that game after a lot of nightmares... But for me Mickey Mania was an even worse experience.
14:50 That Donald Duck game for the Famicom was released in North America, but the license was changed from Donald Duck to Snoopy, from the Peanuts comics.
I'm from the future (GMT+10) and I loved the show, dated as it may be...
I had no idea that the Mega Drive version of Castle of Illusion was different to the Master System one that I've been playing for all these years, but if you say it rapes the MS/GG version to shreds then I'll have to go try it out.
I can't wait to see what you guys are up to in your next episode :)
@wrestletube1 Ren & Stimpy, Tom & Jerry and even product mascots such as Spot and Chester Cheetah. Ugh There's more but I'm getting sick just thinking about them.
@tetrisdave Cool Spot is a good game disagree with putting him on the list of the top 10 worst cartoon licensees ever. Only shit his been in was Spot really the rest he's been in were good games.
I had no idea there were so many Disney titles. Good games or bad, the sprite animation in most of these titles is among the best I've ever seen out of that generation of consoles. And that surprises me, because usually the cartoony look necessitates bigger, choppy sprites.
Is it just me, or does Maui Mallard have a very Earthworm Jim character to its animation style? That was the first thing that occurred to me in that quick clip in the montage.
Great episode guys! But what's this about not being able to bounce on enemies in Fantsia without getting hurt? Just press down on the d-pad in the air, just like in Castle of Illusion. Sure it's still crap, but at least it's playable crap.
And also Fantasia isn't that good ok, but yes you can totally bounce on enemies without getting hurt, watch a gameplay vid if you don't believe me!

Ducktales has some of the best music of any NES games. Isn't it one of a handful with multi-track tunes, on The Moon level?

@azeeislight Yes Ducktales has great music. I'm not sure about the multi-track music on the moon level. Joe might know about that one.
