  • I would give anything to have a voice half as good as George.

  • Cover off the Big Bopper, but Great anyways

  • is this from the Porter Waggoner show??

  • Jim Carrey?...Kidding

  • Why are they messing with his ears? LOL!

  • @speakers79 Probably him making fun of himself

  • Lookin tryin to book em.

  • is the guitarist his bouncer too?

  • I'm 21 but love this kind of music. Modern country music is questionable as being remotely country at all even if some slap steel guitars and fiddles in there somewhere. I do know that there are still some great artists like George strait making country music but I am surprised that with all the country sucked out of most of today's songs that they would even have banjos, steel guitars and fiddles still these days. It upsets me when some "country" songs don't even have any of those at all.

  • still the biggest thrill of all!

  • i fuckin laugh every time that weird guy steps in..

  • great great great thanks for the upload !

  • With the bridge pickup selected. Also, the steel guitar and the bass fiddle are present too.

  • With the bridge pickup selected.

  • The Big Bopper wrote the original version and that was ROCK N ROLL. There is also something that is atypical Country in the video - the lead guitarist is not using a Telecaster (he is using a Fender Jazzmaster). I agree with a lot of the below posts - guys like George Jones and Johnny Cash are COUNTRY. PERIOD! If you look at the "country" bands nowadays, you see Strats, Les Pauls and Marshall amps with tons of distortion. Country is about playing a Tele through a Fender Twin Reverb.

  • this is me and my blood brother brandon s favorite country singer

  • Man does Gordon Terry ever kick into high gear on the solo

  • This is 1000 times more country than the modern shit that is played today. I like all types of music and I don't say I'm a country music expert by any means. if I'm going to listen to country, give me the old stuff any day. George Jones, Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson, David Allen Coe...

  • You've got to love George Jones! The sheer goofiness of this song coupled with the historic relevance is what country music's all about!

  • sounds like ROCK N ROLL to me! george jones is badass :)

  • Great rockabilly version of this song! I like The Big Bopper's version, too.

  • charming stuff

  • what's with the ear thing? I dunno... but I like it.

  • wow this was like one of his first performances and i actually dont dig old music like this but i dig this

  • YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEHAW!!!!!!!

  • A piece of rubbish, better listen to the original by THE BIG BOPPER !

  • @jt123egypte I our country we say GARBAGE not rubbish and there both equal.

  • 1:27 Marshall Grant and W.S. Holland??

  • what year did this song come out?

  • @reddawg1100 In 1959.

  • @Arnescountry Thank u very much this song is Baaaaad to the Bone!! I'm not much into Country but this is Greatness. Mr Jones deserves respect. Very smooth and tight

  • @reddawg1100 The original was by The Big Bopper in 1958, not 1959.

  • Nice.

  • THERE'S A HAIRCUT YOU CAN SET YER WATCH TO!

  • good music thanks

  • Big boppers version is much better

  • Cash sang there too

  • @sunnyDj2 That's his band playing, with Gordon Terry playing the Jazzmaster.

  • This is the Johnny Cash how Cause his band was playing with Jones

  • @JohnnyCashFan200

Yeah, Marshal on bass and Luther on second guitar!

  • @baloo7979 And W.S. Holland on drums, i guess. :) Is the background singer George Riddle?

  • @baloo7979 Yeah, I saw that and did a double-take. Marshall, Fluke & Luther, fer sure. Musta been a J Cash thing.

  • I've heard this on a classic country station in Topeka Kansas. It's Country Legends 106.9 FM. They feature "the best country from the 60's thru the 80's." Too bad I can't remember thier call letters...

  • Damn I've spent every road trip I've ever been on looking for classic country stations and I never find fuck all except that Toby Keith pop country crap.

  • The back up singer is George Riddle,, I had the pleasure of meeting him and his entire family in Marion Indiana over the past month. He is now a DJ on a local Marion country music station and still performs locally from time to time.. He is still a really talented and wonderful man to spend time with.

    KAR from Delaware

  • Wow i never know that was Johnny Paycheck.

  • Do any of youall, know who the back up singer is ?ANSWER....a very young Donny Liettle,AKA Donnie Young..AKA.....Johnny Paycheck...........Rest In Peace Outlaw....

  • @brklynjak that's not him. Love him to pieces.... but that's not him.

  • @BigSandyxoxo your right, its george riddle

  • George Jones rocks!

  • @80sfreak1983 No doubt! We have a classic Country station in Wickenburg, Az. and they played this today. I sang it loud like an idiot! This version is particularly rocking.
