Whenever I'm in LA I make a beeline for the "old" Downtown.
People always ask me on finding I'm heading to LA: "you gonna head to the Westside or Venice or Santa Monica or Westwood or Melrose or (insert usual tourist shithole) and I just tell em "I'll be hanging out in OLD Downtown where *I feel most at home*"!
To me, this out of all cities this city, even with all its problems, is the most beautiful city in the world. its kinda like a beautiful popular girl thats constantly in the spotlight and acts crazy as hell. but when you actually take the time out talk to get to know her you realize she's and amazing person who just has some problems in her life. people see her and either lust for her or hate her when they've never even actually gotten to know her
If you see past the scarred skin of LA, and look deeper into the city, you will find the indescribable beauty of Los Angeles that has already captivated so many Angelenos. LA, where reality meets fantasy.
i miss you LA! i recently moved up to a city right outside of portland, or because it was just too expensive to stay & its a great city, but NO WHERE in the USA can capture the feeling and heartbeat of Los Angeles.
I've been coming downtown to work every weekday since 1992 and this film captures LA quite well. Very dark and lonely place dispite the traffic and crowds. I currently commute from Santa Monica but have lived in other parts of LA and can attest that it is a region of extreme contrasts. You can find some of the most desperate neighborhoods in the US and in a few minutes be surrounded by an oasis of eye remedy. Home to unimaginable natural beauty and excruciating blight but I Love LA
I agree. I just watched the other videos thinking it would be like this one and to my surprise they had unneeded commentary. This music fits the footage perfectly.
Well those are lives of boring people , me on the other hand , I get off from work and go party or have some drinks at the Standard Bar or hang out walk at the beach go and chill at starbucks with the friends and my wifey there is more than from work to home and from home to work life .
I live in LA and I Hate it with Passion! :) But every time I am away I start to cry when I see it off the landing plane and I want it kiss the ground I walk on...

The infrastructure and buildings in Los Angeles are aging. The population is increasing with the Hispanic boom. Streets are littered with homeless people, signs are being posted more and more with the Spanish language, giving way for change since the Los Angeles Golden Age of the 80s. Businesses and stores are closing down because of the Economic crisis, freeways are jammed with traffic from the rising population. But you know what? It's my city, and I love it so much. Things are improving.
There's a certain anonymity that can be attained even in megalopolis like LA. It is a very magical place despite its many problems.I lived out my childhood and my young adult life in Down Town and MacArthur park and although I am very far away from it now, I hold a deep, and very profound, affection for its streets and its people.
I live in L.A it really is spectacular because you have to search a little harder than most places to find its beauty, but it is definitely still there.
this is pretty good, except it makes LA look like a lonely place, where everyone keeps to themselves. And I haven't seen bad traffic. that was kinda 10 years ago.
I really enjoyed the video. I grew up in San Diego and used to dread going to LA because of the traffic and congestion. LA takes some inside knowledge, and once I got the rhythm I fell in love. I lived there for a year and half and still keep my eye out for the right opportunity. I think LA is a city of unlimited opportunity if you have the right perspective.
very deep the film. been living LA for over 20 years now. regardless of the new booming asian communities out in san gabriel valley, i will never leave or move out of my neighborhood. right smack in the middle between staple center and dodger stadium brings a lot of culture and atmosphere around the place. love LA =)
I have footage of downtown LA from back in 92 and things still look the same. Shows like "The Hills" and others neglect to show you this side, more serene and real not stuck up and snobby. Two thumbs way up!!
I work in Downtown LA every day. I didn't see a single person being hustled by a professional beggar in the video. The homeless people generally I see aren't rude. The hustlers will get angry at you if you offer to buy them food after they claim to be hungry, the homeless people appreciate it.
Thanks for sharing that video. What do you think about Anti-Gravity Vehicles? Apparently, they were used against us on 9/11/01. Watch my video, if you have enough time. Stay safe & be well.
last time I was in LA I remembered 100X more people and seeing a my first dead body on the side of the road... the cops did a great job covering the body with the lights instead of a blanket.. thank you LAPD
Just come back from holidays in L.a santa Monica..had a great time, people r nice,friendly,healthy,sporty..I bet there not like that in your little shithole town..Have a good life.
Check out the Giant Tuna Run Tavira, Portugal. It's a travel film I did about catching giant tuna - not those tiny 5 footers - these were really big 15ft! I'm also doing a film about Mexico having just returned with one hell of a hangover from drinking tequila, which makes me happy!
I like the way Wener Herzog sees LA, if you put aside all the typical LA trends like vitamin eating, stretch limos, breast implants, and go for what really matters Los Angeles is the city with the most substance in the United State
i've been to LA. Its a juxtaposed hell city. Glitz and glamour a/g grit and poverty. Imagine homeless pple vs the filthy rich. Sometimes its very saddening....
Yes I too liked this - good composure of the shots. Better than most LP vids. It gives an insight into what life is really like downtown. LP could do with merging this kind of film with a guide type film with some VOs from experienced/respected locals. Now that's showbusiness!
LA is the worst place to go, I got mugged for my iPad, screwed on my business deal, and called a terrorist by the LAPD!

The shittiest city in America, full of the most pompous, pretentious cunts in the country as well.
