  • I found this post & the responses very interesting. My question to Justin is, if you are wrong, how come you keep this post on youtube? Why not delete it now?

  • Because he's not wrong. I think he's being sarcastic. That crap about not letting the toner RUN OUT is just that CRAP. A low toner warning is sufficient! The printer should be able to continue printing until the toner is COMPLETELY gone if I want it to.Since EPSON got sued for just this type of thing a few years ago.I had several Epson printers at the time so I got a couple for the settlement chks/coupons. This is truly a scam but they certainly aren't the only manf. getting away with it.

  • Thank you for the information on your Blog! I got Samsung ML-2010, put out the cartridge, shaked it for 10 sec, replased it - it runs good again (hoping for 100-200 copies, before refiling it)

  • You do realize, that you can even refill your own cartridges? you can save like 80% off, if you refill it yourself.

  • @PatriotAr15 Have your had success in refilling these laser toner cartridges ?

  • @xzqzq I don't bother to refill anymore since generic ink can be had so cheaply on Amazon. Every now and again you get one where the gear hasn't been reset correctly but that's easy enough to fix to make it worth paying 7.00 for a high yield cartridge instead of 60!

  • @2011JFoster Buy a refurbished cartridge for $ 7 on Amazon ?

  • It is a scam because, regardless of the amount of toner left, the printer just "stops printing" without giving any fore-warning, even in the middle of a 3 or 4-page print job! I have "reset" my toner in the printer and ran it for 1000's of pages with no appreciable difference in quality. The reason for this is because they dump printers now on the market for CHEAP to under-sell their competition, hoping to make it up later over the life of the printer in making you buy their toner cartridges.

  • MINDLESS !

  • Cover up the clear optics

    The toner is good!

  • Cover up the clear optics

  • BS refers probably to the quality, monologues and global shooting of this video...?!?

  • Yeah scam was my first thought as well but then I thought about what other reasons there might be. The other way you could look at it is the manufacturer is guaranteeing print quality by asking for a replacement before the toner runs low and starts to degrade print quality even a little. When they sell the cartridge it is specified for a certain number of pages so it must maintain maximum quality for those many pages.

  • @kiwitube2000 Yes there are reasons not to let the ink go out completely. However, it was just BAD ENGINEERING to make your printer just "stop" in the middle of a print job because some counter or flag decides to. Everything ok and the next minute my office without a functioning printer.... then scrambling to buy toner, when you know there is toner still there to finish up a few pages. Happened to me in the middle of an important print, so I reset it... 6 months ago and still good prints. Scam?

  • I really enjoyed the banging. Nice touch.

  • The toner doesn't last as long as you think; if you think it will print 2600 pages, as it says, you have to make sure that there are only about 170 words per page; 5% of the page.

This means that if using graphics or a full page print you won't even get half of that.

  • why do u think printers r always ON SALES, but u NEVER see ink/toner on sales??? THEY WANT TO RIP U OFF ON TONER/INK!!! REFILL UR TONER/INK, SAVE $ !

  • @Badboyzon9 ; Hey man do u know where i can get the powder for the toner? im in Australia saw some good deals on ebay but was wondering if any store would carry em cause none of the major outlets here sell em unless of course i go to a printer shop but they charge heaps. cheers mate

  • Justin caved like a cheap suitcase. See detailed reply on his blog from Mr R. Toner is good until it is used. There is no bad/contaminated toner that will do any damage. What would contaminate it? The surface of your drum? The surface of your paper? Impurities in the toner itself, ie lousy toner? I've run carts out & refilled many times.

When it begins to print unevenly just shake the cart to even it out and print to the end. Before refilling discard the dregs that remain, tiny amount- cheers.

  • that's a good one!

you should do this on the desk of their CEO

  • I'm trying to understand.

I ran out of toner before a major convention.

Found the "Tape the Sensor" trick, that got me the 80 sheets I needed.

    So NOW what?

If I run it to its end will it damage the Drum ?

    What Is the Drum?

Is there a way to refill this machine, and save the cost of the proprietary cartridge\Toner, what ever it is?

If any one posts a response, I will thank you now. If it's a Vid response, the God's will bring you great fortune so buy a lottery trick the next day, okay?

  • As far as only getting a couple hundred pages out of the first cartridge, settle down. All printers come with a starter cartridge that doesn't contain a lot of toner.

  • thx :) !!! it's really my gf printer... she'll re fill the cartridge and i'll comment the results when it gets empty : )

the printer did like 400 pages (200 both sides) is still printing but almost dying :p

  • here's a question for someone who knows... i have this printer and I've printed less than 200 pages and the tonner is running out!!!

the tonner says that it lasts for more than ONE THOUSAND pages... NOT TWO HUNDRED...

the printer does not even have a week till purchased so if they are not stealing from us... what's wrong? or is it just me and I got bad luck?

  • Toner: TN-330 = 1500 pages

sorry for my english : D

  • You are right, I admit I was wrong! Thanks for putting me in my place. =)

  • @justindorfman There are few videos on how to refill them, there are few steps on some videos that are not covered on other videos, I am NOT an expert of this, so I ask you, Is there any particular tip or video you may recommend me on how to proceed with the refill?

    Thanks

  • I have a Brother 2140, I know you can cover up the hole, the sensor, to print more. I suggest you don't EVER let the toner run completely dry, because if you do you will damage the drum and the printer.

I would only allow to print up to 400 pages more with TN360.

This person is pretty stupid thinking that every toner have to be completely used or in this case Brother is stealing from him.

  • You are not paying for the cart to run empty, you are actually paying for XX grams of toner to be used. But you wouldn't understand that now would you? Also, the used toner goes back into the cart. Understand what you're talking aboiut instead of lieing to your viewers, idiot. So, how many grams were left, idiot?? You have no idea of what you're blabbing about.

  • You are also right, I admit I was wrong! Thanks for putting me in my place. =)

  • @warrior7772 There are few videos on how to refill them, there are few steps on some videos that are covered on other videos, I am NOT an expert of this, so I ask you, Is there any particular tip or video you may recommend me on how to proceed with the refill?

    Thanks

  • @warrior7772 Also to add when you place new powder in the container after so many use the laser breaks it down over and over again and afterword you have what is left and it can't be used.

  • @warrior7772 I AGREE you shouldn't let it run out... can damage the drum, etc. But that doesn't get around the MAIN ISSUE, which is that the printer just STOPS in the middle of a print job. You could be on page 3 of a 5-page print job, and it stops due to "no toner" left! In the "old" days of printing, when HP was king, it would run low and fade but you had time to get new toner... your office could still function ! Now they put a gun to your head. That is just BAD ENGINEERING on Brother's part.

  • This guy is a moron and doesn't understand why Brother, and other printer manufacturers, don't let the cartridges run out until they're dry and empty. You would then have a scratched drum and print artifacts and several other reasons you wouldn't comprehend. Do your research, no one is ripping you off.

  • You are also right, I admit I was wrong! Thanks for putting me in my place. =)

  • @warrior7772 Still too much left in the cartridge! almost half of the toner maybe more. explain more!

  • Extremely suspenseful. Now I'm starting to wonder if my balls are truly empty.
