I remember this concert from 1984. My favorite radio station did an MTV simulcast, and I still have the cassette of that show. One of my all time favorites ever.
Look ridiculous....yes. So did I back then. But I.m not listening to the clothes. (as loud as they are) Y and T always delivered. Bowie looked fruity in the ziggy years but put out some memorable stuff.
Saw them last week @ Rock City Nottingham - going again tomorrow night @ the O2 Academy Islington London - just get better an better with age - MOST underated guitarist on the planet is Dave and he's got a fantastic voice
@mrdaisycutter1 I used to Love Leaonard. he was a Bad-ass back in the day, with that really fast Single-Foot Bass Drum stuff, but unfortunately, as the years passed, he got worse. sloppier, fatter, more drugs, etc... he's now a shell of his former self. sad. Nicko, on the other hand, remains a "World Class" powerhouse Fucking Rock Drummer, and would DESTROY leaonard Haze in short order.
fineasski... why do you make a negative comment about Dave and their costumes "looking so bad" when there is so much to f*cking talent going on in this video. Hell man, it was 1985... nobdy in the music industry looked their "best". Check out Leonard Haze talent and as far as Dave being a "lazy front man", well, I just think you're missing the whole deal dude.... whatever
Y&T was an awesome band. Saw them open Ace Frehley and they blew him away. Ive seen many many bands live and never saw anyone sound so good the entire show. Maniketti's voice was just as strong the last note he sang as the first. Was a shame they never got as big as they deserved.
The first gig I saw these guys.... WHAT A SHOCKER. Opening for Ted Neugent & Journey both when they were at their peak, And Y&T BLEW THEM OFF THE STAGE. And they have never let me down since ONE HELL OF A LIVE ACT
haha. i no rite. but this is a crime 2 not show dave during this solo, they r way 2 fucking underratted. it sucks tht they never really hit the big time like they shud have
First saw this band in Dublin Ireland in the early 80s' supporting AC/DC. Never heard of them before that. They blew AC/DC off the stage. Been a fan ever since. A Criminally underrated band. Dave Meniketti is probably my favourite guitarist and has never received the acclaim he deserves. Technically brilliant, melodic and hard hitting too! They don't make em like that anymore.
Dave Meniketti is awesome, check him out in the compilation band Hear'n'Aid, in "we're stars" , and even in the middle of a room full of talented vocals, his still reigns.
I was at this show--Lita Ford and Twisted Sister were the other acts--freaking awesome!! I had this on tape and wore it out, maybe one day it'll make it to dvd. I'll never forget Leonard Haze explained to the audience all the things they weren't allowed to say since it was gonna be on MTV--needless to say his speech didn't make it on the tape either. Thanks for posting!
this is what it's all about....man, I loved these guys!!!! Dave's voice and guitar and Leonard Haze!! Leonard taught me how to drive a band, let me tell you!
I remember when this was on MTV. These guys are still a personal favorite of mine, and they were one of the most underrated bands EVER. Just put on any other CD released in 1983, and then put on the Meanstreak CD - and you can easily hear that this CD is heavier than anything else released that year.
growing up in the bay area in the 80s i saw these guys a lot and while i think they're great...i gotta say that drum solo was pretty weak and what a bad choice of spots to put it in...not very musical
This Band was and still is gotta be one of the most underated bands of all time....I still go to see them and they are better than they were back in the day...amazing..they are 50+ and still kicking major ass... Long live Y&T!!!!!!!!!
Amen to that! Any drummer who hasn't heard the self-titled Y&T record has been missing out! I got that record when i was 12, and Leonard Haze was the AMerican John Bonham - in fact, his foot is better than Bonham's was as far as I'm concerned.
he has a double bass pedal there my friend. Bonzo never used one. As far as i'm concerned Ian Paice has the fastest feet - and hands for that matter - of any drummer in their prime.
damn i used to have this entire concert on videotape yes i said it....vhs! i play in 3 bands now as a guitarist a hard rock, country, and hip hop and this guy was a huuuuge influence when i was 13 and pimple faced with my cheapie axe..Dave M is so damn underrated its not funny as a frontman...you rule Dave...thanks for all the soulful jams
Haze's solo was face melting! :)
