  • I love these old videos of live performances. There are a lot of melodic variations and additional instrumental riffs in this version that aren't on the original album version. Nice.

  • geant!

  • Um, calling me a Procolphile would be an understatement.

  • Wow. What a rare video. I can't believe my eyes. Am I seeing Keith Reid onstage playing the organ and going wild with it? Thanks for posting this.

  • Procol-The Best

  • Wow... can't believe I found this video. I <3 YouTube.

  • Some people say one hit wonder.

    Some people like Justus Beaver.

    I rest my case!

  • Procol Harum was a fantastic band and 'Conquistador' is a deserved classic but this particular performance is not as exciting as it' should be. Only at the organ solo catchs some fire. At that point in time it seems that Gary and co. were running through the motions.

  • SOUTHEND'S FINEST EXPORT ALONG WITH THE FEELGOODS

  • Whiter shade of pale has a higher view count because this song is under appreciated! Only heard this partially on the radio a couple of times before and didn't know the name of it until I heard it on a countdown one night. Voila! I'm hooked! WONDERFUL song!

  • Whiter shade of pale has a higher view count because this song is under appreciated!

  • I saw these guys back in the early 70's .I was 12 . I thought the drummer was looking at me , longing for me..and I was in the nosebleed section!! LOL!

  • Check out the # of views for Whiter Shade of Pale!!!

  • Cooler than shit. Nuff said. Thanks for posting!

  • where can i find this whole concert? =(

  • When this song first came out, it fell off chart pretty fast, record store didn't sell this song either, luckily I remembered the title - (Spanish) Conquistador - lucky me to find this video and bought the song too.

  • Awesome!! I'm going to see them in concert tonight. Can't wait...

  • procol opened for supertramp on this tour. bloody well WISH I'D BEEN THERE!

  • You've got to love a lyricist who's obviously read a few books and a vocalist who has the passion to sound like he was there at the time!

  • Go BJ Wilson..one of the best drummers in the whole world to date it's too bad he's not around today.

  • Bitching performance and the great BJ Wilson one of my drumming heroes.muy buena cancion chicos tengan que la musica de antes era mucho mejor que la mierda que producen hoy en dia ok.

if you don't like it tough....

  • Is that Captain Kangaroo?

  • @boblaco shut up and respect punk!

  • @boblaco YES it is....and MORE!

  • Una gran cancion sigan bajando estos videos Buenisimo

  • Yes I would love to marry this man and give him my name so he can play me to sleep every night. Smile God Bless You dear. smile Thank You.

  • At least half (at the VERY least) of Procol Harum's genuis stood backstage during most of thier concerts...Keith Reid. His lyrics provided the basis for the type of art rock program music that resulted. Just wouldn't have happened (nor been happening I've happily found out) without him.

  • in the cave, the cat holds his gold calendar with bony hands, amidst his rusty armor and stark skeleton, he got the thing he loved, at what cost

  • thanks for the memories

  • I really like Pete Solley's keyboard playing here, but Mick Grabham's guitar solo doesn't measure up to Dave Ball's.

  • classical music made with rock instruments

  • Il ove the lyrics. It tells of the spanish conquest. It should of told the story of the Indian Holocost!

  • I would have really loved to be at this concert. I was to young to be there But have grown to love this man's voice as if he was in my time. What a awesome voice to the music industry and a gift from God to hear such a great singer. Thanks so much for this great post. God Bless You. smile

  • @wordofadvice1 i totally agree Gary Brookers voice is one in a million. what a beautiful voice. He is also a musical genius. thanks for the video. Drohegda

  • Great post.... this rocks

  • He looks very tired or blazed as hell, but still a great song.

  • Years ahead of their time, highly original, their style and creativity put them above other bands of their time. Gary Brooker - never easy singing and playing at the same time and fronting the band - highly talented

  • Great song but the volume :/

    ****1/2

  • Gary Brooker did "Old Brown Shoe" in "Concert For George (Harrison)."

  • @broostermatt you're right he did. i have the DVD and it is nice wonderful tribute concert. And Gary Brooker's part of playing "old Brown Shoe" is one of the best performances there. His voice is just amazingly good. Point.

  • I meant i love the song but the video sucks.

  • Hate to say this but, this version isTerrible. I love the vedio but this makes me sick. God I use to try to learn the lyrics when I was younger. Hell, he did'nt even sing some of them. Real Bad!!

  • Great song! I remember jamming to this song on a.m. in the 70's!

  • I would wake up to this song on the radio in the 70's. Strange lyrics. I didn't know what point they were trying to make but I like the jam session that comes with it.

  • Wow...this song was instantly added to my favorites...awesome :-)

  • this is the definition of classic rock

  • Excellent tune! Great live version!!!!!

  • Complete opposite of Neil Young's Cortez the Killer.

  • what a tune!

  • AMAZING AMAZING AMAZING !!!

  • No, the guitarist on this video is Mick Grabham of "Rocky Horror Picture Show" fame - he played on the soundtrack alongside drummer BJ Wilson.

Procol Harum is not the band of one song. THey spawned ten nice albums in all during the classic era.

  • Fantastic! Who's that on lead axe? Is it Robin Trower?

  • Where is he? These guys write one song, they pour their souls out, and disappear...

    I like it!

  • Wow, on this video, Pete Solley doesn't play the classical Hammond Organ that shaped the Procol Harum song, he plays a Farfisa Professional. It must be the first time I see a video of Procol using a Farfisa. It doesn't sound bad anyway and Solley is a brilliant organist. A very nice video indeed.

  • yes. You are correct. Cris Copping moved to bass player again.

  • i luv this song!!! thanks!!!

  • love it!

  • Wonderfull, I remember when this was broadcast and think I recorded it somewhere ! great concert, fantastic sound

  • One of my favourites. Gary Brooker - what a talent: wrote it, played it, sang it. And what a voice. Absolutely unmistakable. Couldn't be mimiced.

    Thanks for posting.

  • @bondmatty Agreed on everything and regarding the voice only Peter Gabriel could come close.

  • Omg! One of the most under appreciated rock legends. What a phenomenal song.

  • Simply the best. Procol Harum ROCKS!

  • Superb band super song.

    What more can one say.
