  • way too artsy.

but i don't mind anything with brad lol

  • I can see why people think this film is pretentious. I think it is, too, but in a good way. It draws attention to itself in a way that brings to light a type of narrative structure that I call the "visual poem," which I think is great, because it is a style that needs way more attention. "The Tree of Life" is one of the most hypnotic films ever made, and it wouldn't be that way if it were made traditionally. It is a film that needs to be seen on the largest screen possible with full volume.

  • whats the name of this soundtrack ??? please >?

  • There's such beauty in this film. Every shot has a purpose, and no matter how many times watch it, I will never be able to fully contemplate all Terrence Malick has put into this film. Incredible.

  • BEAUTIFUL movie. I don't even think of it as just a film; it's a freaking work of art.

  • @minamu8 ....this was a beautiful movie. But your statement is STUPID. Filmmaking is art and films themselves are a work of art (when done right). Hence, your statement does not help compliment the film to a greater height from a great movie.

  • @KayWildcat The question is if its a good work of art or a crappy moving painting. This is a good work of art.

  • @minamu8 There you go, it's good to specify.

  • @KayWildcat Well, that was rude.

  • @sensoriussupremus Well, I apologize for that...

  • masterpiece!!!! and she is beautifull

  • such a gorgeous fking movie. I cried thru the last half hour.

  • Its way better than the fountain.true beauty/

  • Beautiful scene! Appears the Park of monsters of Bomarzo (Viterbo, Italy), in contrast to the purity of the natural forest. The Argentine writer Manuel Mujica Lainez recreated in his novel "Bomarzo" that gloomy charm.

  • I respect Stanley Kubrick 100%, a lot of people say that if a genius director comes up and does something great Kubrick has already done it, and this is partly true BUT not other filmmaker has ever taken a philosophical / visual/ technical approach to the levels that Terrence Malick does, I rest my case.

  • song name anyone? please!

  • @MaimounaFall Siciliana - Ancient Airs and Dances No. 3 - Respighi

  • This film is no longer playing in our theaters.

  • Absolutely beautiful sequence - almost naive, but so nostalgic and touching...

  • Has ANY filmmaker in the history of cinema ever gotten MORE visceral power of out of a shot of a tree ---or even just a BLADE OF GRASS, for that matter!!! (LOL) -- than Terrence Malick has??? His eye is just extraordinary.... :)

  • is this a segment of the film? I saw it in theaters (loved it) but can't remember. Can't wait to see it again on DVD.

  • @Casarzino It's right after the ending of the birth of the universe sequence.

  • brad pitt ftw

  • @TheCoasterGod funny trivia. it's stock footage

  • I'm dying for the music playing on this clip!

  • @romy194, the music is from "Ancient Airs and Dances" by Ottorino Respighi, Suite 3, "Siciliana."

Performed by the National Symphony Orchestra of Ireland Conducted by Rico Saccani.

  • @jalan147 thanks!!!

  • what's the music playing on this?

  • The light at :24 is stock footage. True story.

  • The Tree of Life starts with a mother and a Navy man the waltz of life begins with opening gates a smiling face a touch a chlld a lake thank you Chastain Pitt Penn and Malick bravo.

  • I LOVED THE MOVIE!!!

  • Catch an ethereal glimpse**

So excited to see this film, looks like it'll accomplish what Aronofsky's "The Fountain" was so close to reaching.

  • @isgoanrain i liked tree of life but the fountain clearly was much better

  • Comment removed

  • @iveywebb44 100% agreed.

  • @isgoanrain They are very different films because they were made by very different people. The Fountain was about a futile quest to deny eternal nothingness, whereas Tree of Life is about the coming of age of the cosmos set against the microcosm of a post-war nuclear family.
