  • Ana is a great gymnast, very artistic. However, I don't think many people appreciate her work becuase she's not Russian, but Romanian. Aliya Mustafina is another artistic gymnast that wasn't appreciated. People only remember gymnasts like Komova and Khorkina, but all of these gymnasts don't need you internet people to appreciate them anyway

  • @Planetimage2 I agree, Ana was so artistic and elegant, you typically don't see that in the Romanians. I love Aliya and think she is very artistic, elegant, and graceful! Komova and Khorkina are very good as well :)

  • I was at college when I heard the news of Ana Porgras! I skipped class because I just broke down in tears :'( I hope she is happy now and that she doesn't regret her decision.

  • ohh... Groshkova, she opened my heart for Gymnastics! she would've been a legend if she was not trained by Saadi. But I don't blame her, she just did what the state asked her to do.... but anyway, I hope someone will show me a double-full in like she did.

now my favorite is Ferrari hope she wins floor.

  • @MrJST94 She was incredible! I love her floor and that double-full in was amazing amazing amazing! And her beam skills were crazy good too!

And Ferrari is great especially her tumbles and I can't wait to she her connect her full-in to back tuck!

  • @GymnasticsFan1144

    my too!!!!

lol we should stay in touch!

do you know Natalia Frolova? she is also one of my fave's. If you don't know her search her 86 kraft FX

  • @MrJST94 I've actually never heard of her! Umm and how come I never have!? I just looked her up, WOW that was an incredible floor routine, the tumbles were amazing but the artistry was beautifuuul! What happened to her?

  • @GymnasticsFan1144

Frolova bursted on the scene at the 84 junior europeans, exceptional difficulty and alot of grace! at her peak year (86) there was no world championship, after 86 she got some problems with her beam routine and that was her downfall, the Soviets diddn't alow any inconsistency, after missing the 88 Olympic team she retired.

thats is all i know. great gymnast. (maby intresting to know is that she tried a whip to double layout in 86 (leningrad international)).

  • @MrJST94 Ohh wow! Inconsistency sucks! Same happened with Groshkova she was inconsistent too! She seemed like a wonderful gymnast! I also like Dudnik, have you heard of her?

  • @GymnasticsFan1144

I will never, never, never forget her beam routine at the europeans, just perfect :)

I like dudnik very much. shame that she never went to Olympics, just like porgras am I right?

  • @MrJST94 It was perfection indeed! I love her vault too she usually stuck a DTY which gymnasts today can't do -__- and her floor was like a typical soviet and her bars mount was incredible! And yes like Porgras..she most likely won't be back

  • @GymnasticsFan1144

oh yea! I don't like DTY's anymore, they should make it a 5.5 SV. if you really want difficulty you should go for a Produnova or a Cheng Fei vault. I don't like Amanar's either, everyone blast their knees out... (except maroney).

Dudnik would still win today's competitions ;)

  • @MrJST94 I don't like DTY either! I like Amanars, i just don't like how you need one to win gold, and they are dangerous, I know Murakami is training a Produnova and Iordahce and Maroney are training Chengs so it should be interesting! Which gymnasts do you like currently?

  • @GymnasticsFan1144

Muarkami, i have not heard from her from a long time, i know she did a quad spin on beam and i thought it were just roumers that she was training a Produnova. The only one I know who is training a Produnova is Pena Abreu Yammiliet. (to bad she fell at the world). I thought maroney would try a TTY at the trials this year. I don't kno ordache. at the moment I like; Ferrari, komova, Muarakami (only because of her FX) and Sui LU. and you?

  • * I don't know Iordahce. i meant

  • @MrJST94 I've seen a video of Murakami training one but she was using some kind of springboard..I lost the link though, and I haven't heard about her in a while too hopefully she's doing well :) And your right to bad she fell, but it was incredible to see a gymnast doing a Produnova! I think Maroney should do a TTY she has the height and power! Iordahce is a Romanian, this is her first year senior, her beam and floor are crazy good and her bars are so, so.

  • @GymnasticsFan1144

when i speak about romainins, CATALINA PONOR!!! what a comeback she made! whip-whip trough full-in pike what a sequence (forgive bad spelling, i'm dutch).

her beam is really nice. and a full-in dismount just blew my mind. I don't really like Mustafina, i saw her with my own eyes in roterdam 2010 worlds and there was not much more than a double arabian and a bad twisting serie's.... I do hope that she learned that an Amanar is not her vault ;)

  • @MrJST94 I know Ponor's comeback was incredibleee, she surprised me! Really?! Haha Mustafina is my favorite, I don't know what it is about her but I just adore her! Do you like the Americans?

  • @Gymnasticsnot really, I like maroney and Kytra Hunter (don't know why i never hear from her anymore, she had a great full-in layout) but johnson, wieber and raisman are not really my type of gymnast. I actually liked bross more than Liukin (sorry for that xD) her handspring-layout front-double front was just great. she reminder me of another of my favorite gymnastst; Alina Kozich. But I have to admit that team USA is far from bad! I think they will wil at the 2012 Olympics.

  • @MrJST94 Kytra had incredible tumbles, idk where she went..USA is good they have a chance at gold this summer for sure, but I agree Raisman and Wieber aren't my type either. And Raisman's form annoys me. Wieber is okay I like her kind of, same with Johnson. Lol, I like Bross and Liukin the same but Liukin form on her double front were ughh! I like Alina too and the Ukrainians, I really want Russia to win this year though but it will be close.

  • @GymnasticsFan1144

russians are good yea, I like Nabieva for her layout Tkachev. Afansyeva is good to but she had a horrible floor music in 2010. 2011 was better and I think her FX gold was deserved. she has some power like Gutsu had. I miss her combo; whip trough DLO... and always ending with full-in pike or a DLO.... that were good times.... but ok, i'm looking forward to 2012, it will be spectaculair for shure!

  • @MrJST94 And I lovee Mustafina she is my favorite by far..! I also love Komova, Grishina, Porgras (until she retired), Afansyeva, Ponor, etc. I also like Ferrari too and Ferlito, she's very charming to watch. I like Jinnan and Sui too :) From USA I like Maroney and Vega

  • W...What?? Is Ana retired? No...I just got to be kidding. What happened?? Ok, I'm just crying right now.

  • @MadeleinePhillips666 She got injuried and could not go on..so quit :(

  • @GymnasticsFan1144 But...but she always can back, right? I mean, Look how many gymnasts came back: Catalina Ponor, Shawn Johnson, Nastia Liukin, Chellsie Memmel (even with a injurie), Daiane dos Santos (after + 1 year out of competitions), Jade Barbosa (after + 2 years out of competitions)...She always can back. Next Olympics will be in my Hometown (2016 - Rio de Janeiro). I really wanna see the beautiful and gracefull Ana Porgras winning a medal in my city.

  • @MadeleinePhillips666 She can but not yet anyway... I read an interview of her and she said that she was now living with her sister and going to school, and that she wasn't considering coming back for now.... But that can change, can't it? I'm really sad right now... :"( I find these type of retirements the most heartbreaking, when they're the least expected, right before the olympics.

  • God bless her<3 I'll miss her a bunch, as long as she is happy with moving on in her life is what really matters :D

  • @fan17091 Truee :)

  • Comment removed

  • i did not like her.... she did not have anything special like pavlova, khorkina or podkopayeva..... and only an Yurchenko full.. shame!!!

  • @MrJST94 wow.. come on, Ana Porgras is indeed unique, and it's really difficult to deny it.

  • @MrJST94 Well when I think of Romanian gymnasts I think of Milo, Gogean, Bontas, Amanar, Raducan, etc. All were know for their power, consistency, and weak bar work, typical Romanians. When Ana came she surprised us all because she was a good bar worker and had an elegance and grace you would never expect to see from a Romanian ever! She was weak in power but her artistry was fabulous!

  • @GymnasticsFan1144

all romainians except Silivas, but it see you point, she is good on bars and she has grace. it is better than anything we see now but i just miss soviets like boguinskaya and Dudnik.

  • @MrJST94 Ohh yes! Of course Silivas she was fabulous! I was thinking more 90s gymnasts! Anyway I miss the Soviets, Dudnik was probably my favorite along with Groshkova, Omelianchik, and Boguinskaya, etc :)

  • She brought such beauty and elegance to gymnastics. It won't be the same without her :/

  • @HuangQiushuangFan I agree!

  • This is a Beautiful montage, a sad one though..

I can't realize that we won't be able to admire her elegance anymore... She was one of the most graceful gymnast of all time, and one of the only one of her generation. I just can't believe it.

  • @Lauureette Thank youu! I agree, I was shocked, and very sad! :(

  • OMG I can't believe this! I has been away for some time at the Gymnastics world and I just noticed this! What a bad news!

  • @brdbarreira I know, it's so sad, I will miss her a lot! :(

  • If she only waited 7/8 months till she retired, i hope she comes back for the olympics, she deserves some olympic gold.

  • @Kadolino I know !! :(

  • i wanna cry, i just wanted to see her et beam again u__u

  • @cacahuate25011993 Me too :'(

  • I was hoping she'd go to the Olympics! Praying she comes back :). If she doesn't stay out for to long, it could be possible.

  • @TayTayandZoee Me too! I was looking forward to seeing her elegance and beam! I hope she comes back I really do!

  • Noooo! :( I't sooo sad :( Wanted her to go to the Olympics and do something great!

  • @cleicsioluek I know :( Me too, me too, I was looking forward to seeing her there..
