I thought I was gonna hear a punked-out version of Junco Partner. Instead I get a reggae version , which is at least interesting. As mentioned in a previous post , to get the true feel of the song , you gotta check out one of the New Orleans guys . That guy's correct that Professor Longhair , Dr. John and James Booker have the best versions.
But , he screwed up the lyrics to Carnival Time . It's "throw the baby out the window , let the joint burn down".
@LJH70122 I stand corrected on Carnival Time. Born and raised in NOLA, I actually knew that, but apparently my computer had been drinking my Grey Goose. ;-) Thanks for the heads up!

I love the Clash (STILL the most unsung band ever) But if you want to hear this song played instead of played with please refer to Fess Longhair or Dr. John, James Booker, Allen Toussaint - SOMEBODY from N'awlins. Mardi Gras day isn't till March 9 this year so its the longest Mardi Gras season in about 75 yrs."Throw the baby out the window/Let the sun burn down" (Al "Carnival Time"Johnson) Break out da wine, music and naked women!! Jockamo Fee NaNey! Peace&Love from the Big Easy y'all!!
Love the bubblin organ in this . The Clash really understood reggae (unlike the Police) and did it a great service by introducing people to a wealth of beautiful music they may have otherwise overlooked
I remember back when I was a freshman in high school...I couldn't get into this album. A few years later and my appreciation for different styles of music really made Sandinista my all time favorite album<3
a great song, a brilliant album and an almighty talented band....and that includes all their collaborators they all together made a sound, a form of music and a love for expression that has influences still to this day. no wonder they deserve the epitaph "the only band that really mattered"
Cut the Crap ain't a Clash record. It's a second rate attempt to continue something which was lost. The magic was lost when Strummer & Simonon fired Jones.
I agree with the comment "If Sandinista isn't your fav clash record then you cant be a real fan." This is a masterpiece and blows London Calling outta the water.
no dude definatley the best clash album i mean should i stay or should i go, rock the casbah, and straight to hell are some of teh greatest songs ever
thanks for agreeing with me. i hope people realise i wasn't trying to offend people by saying which clash album they should love the most, that would b silly! i'm just making reference to the amount of wannabe clash fans out there because it makes them feel kinda cool. all i'm saying is so many people claim to be clash fans yet are unfamiliar with all of their albums which in my mind is disrespectful.
I didnt much used to like this song but over recent months the whole sandanista! album has become essential listening and this is one of many stand out tracks, thanks for posting.
if sandinista isn't your fav clash record then you cant be a real fan. whilst all the clash records are great sandinista is the album that truly challenges their fans. sandinista wasnt that well received at the time of release because many considered it to long and experimental. the reality is that the clash were simply moving quicker than everyone else. it just took some time for us to catch up ,even today after all this time this record can still surprise me.
Respect huskernation. Indeed, Sandinista is without a doubt the best album the Clash released, the sheer variety of music was mind blowing. Best part was they sold the three-record release for the price of one. God bless em'
sandinista is great and as much as i love the way the clash broke beyond punk and all musical genres! my favorite of their albums is their debut self titled one!
