@ROBBY639. Ever been in a car with 4.56 . Most likely not. 2150 ish at 70mph in 6th gear . Still gets good gas mileage. Also will out pull any other car with the same hp with a numericaly lower gear.
I hate 4.10s on a 5 speed it sucks. Mine was like that it gives u alot of torque and acceleration and it allows to to hit the rev limiter faster. I was only doing. 60MPH on 5th at 2,200 rpms so that sucks bad.
@camarospade My 99 Z28 put down 320RWHP Bone stock. It just depends on how well it has been maintained and such. Air Filters, Oil, Fuel filters, garage kept, so on and so forth. I know a guy who just bought a 98 SS and it only put down 295 to the rear wheels. It wasn't maintained or kept up well at all. The biggest battle between the Camaros and Mustangs is the gearing. The GT had 4:10 Gears, their stock ratio is about 2:62 or something. That's why they are so slow stock. My Z28 has 3:42s stock.
@AdrenalineJunky17 your Z sounds like my SS mine put down 323 hp and 348 tq i believe bone stock. but those mustangs don't put much to the ground anyways.
@camarospade Nice, it must have been very well taken care of! See, mine was well maintained engine wise, but it wasn't garage kept so the paint was peeling and there was some flake off areas. @camarospade the 1/4 and when we left the track we did a top speed run. I had 2 lengths on him the whole way until I hit about 125MPH(end of 4th) then when I got into 5th he slowly just pulled around me and away. But even with the 4.6s they don't stand a chance until the get new gears. B/c if you had the same HP with the mustang as the Camaro but didn't change the gears. The camaro would spank the mustangs ass all over the track and top speed until about 160-180MPH.
@AdrenalineJunky17 got a question and it seems like you know alot. i just bought a 1995 z28 camaro about three weeks ago. i was woundering what the stock gears were and how much improvement it would be if i threw 3.73 gears in it. or how much an improvement from 37.3 to 4.10 are. i heard it would take down my top speed but would kill (in a good way) my acceleration. what would you recamend. also looking at cams, have a intake planned and already have flowmaster 80's on it. maybe roller rockers?
@94probewithheaders Alright I don't know a whole lot about the LT1 models except that they were an older version of the 350 5.7L, I'm not real sure what your factory gears are, but also is yours auto or 6 speed? That would help out alot. Yes, going higher in the number will help your 1/4 time and acceleration, but you will lose top speed and MPGs. But you don't want to over do it or else you won't be able to daily drive it. 4.10s are pretty very common for 6spds.
@94probewithheaders Ok, well for an auto you probably don't want to go past 3.73s. Autos only have 4 so they don't have to have as radical of a gear change to be nasty.
@jayguy173 The Z lost b/c he still had stock gears which are 3:42s if 6spd and 2:98s if auto. The Mustang had aftermarket 4:10s in it. That's the biggest reason why Camaros kick Mustangs ass stock to stock at the track. Mustangs have really tall, top speed gears, while camaros have shorter acceleration gears. The bigger the number, 3:73-4:10 etc means less top speed, more acceleration. The lower the number, 2:84-2:42 etc means less acceleration, more top speed.

well all ill say is that i have never lost to a Mustang GT with my 2001 Camaro Z28 with Borla exhaust & SLP lid. like ive been saying every camaro is different. but stock vs stock an LS1 Camaro is faster then an stock 07 Mustang GT.

well all ill say is that i have never lost to a Mustang GT with my 2001 Camaro Z28 with Borla exhaust & SLP lid. like ive been saying every camaro is different. but stock vs stock an LS1 Camaro is faster then an stock 07 Mustang GT.

thank god that mustang had all those mods, cause without them he wouldn't have been so lucky. GM gave the mustang a 7 year head start and the camaro is still superior. even the new camaro is faster than the new mustang :)

well the mustang has a 93 tune and 4.10s. there is a big difference between that and just having a catback exhaust and cai lol. end of story.

well the short shifter really doesn't do much as far as performance and it says he doesn't even know how to use his "chip thing". which means you may as well scratch that, making it because a catback and cai like i said. and gears do a lot.

check out my vid, (cammed ls1 -vs- procharged GT). i toy with a 2006 procharged GT in my 1999 trans am, beat him every time with a fried clutch... didn't even have to use my shift light. the bottom ends of those stangs are only good for 460whp.... LMAO

^^^ Smart comment...my brothers stock 3v is at 560 still safely for the past year and a half with a saleen blower on stock motor, trans(only a spec clutch), and stock rear end. And i have been running at 530 for over a year now with a procharger on stock shit.
