@xDizzYv1 Yes there is, the snake was fed fish for a long time. I put it in the bowl to see if it would 'fish' for them like some other species do. It didn't.
If you don't mind me asking, where did you get your Yellow faced Whipsnake from? I have been wanting to get one but I don't know of anyone who breeds them. If you know of any good breeders could you let me know? Thanks.
@waruikazi Whip snakes feed exclusively on lizards! So why don't you get it a feeder lizard at the very first place? It can spare you all the trouble and headaches of coaxing it to eat what it does not naturally!
@LawEnf0rc3r Using lizards as feeders can give your snake parasites, which in the wild isn't a problem for me but in captivity could cause the death of my snake. After force feeding with fish this snake very quickly began feeding voluntarily. Then i used pinkies scented with fish and once he was big enough it very quickly took them and it wasn't long before he started taking unscented pinkies. Not what i would call a head ache, much easier than furinas and other small elapids.
@waruikazi OK... Then why don't you carry on feeding it fish instead? Feeder fish seems better judging from how you put it, and i believe they are cheaper compare to feeder mice...
@LawEnf0rc3r They aren't cheaper, especially if you go by weight. Where i live you look at about $1.60 for a fish or $1 for a pinky mouse. Mice freeze alot better aswell.
ive been bitten 3 times by this species,i only get a stinging sensation which goes away then a couple weekes later a small sore appears and the skin flakes away
I'm not sure because i've never been bitten and i don't know anyone who has been. I do have a mate who was bitten by a more dangerous black whip snake on the hand. He had serious swelling and alot of local pain but that was about it. Many books describe the same symptoms for a bite from one of these, although you could assume less extreme. However everyone will react differently and there is no guarantee you wont have a severe reaction if you got bitten.
