I guess now we know where Val Kilmer got his look from in "Heat". It's almost identical to Don Johnson's in this video, and Michael Mann was behind both.
Hi to everybody. Is anybody who can tell me the title of the music, surely by Jan Hammer, in the beginning of Miami Vice's episode ( Honor among thieves) 4° season - episode 16 ?
To be honest, this is one of the few scenes from Season 5 that recaptured the emotion some of the older eps had - the "Cry" scene from "Definitely Miami," the "Picture Book" scene from "The Good Collar" - the list goes on.
2:04 - end is just amazing. The way they pull their guns on Crockett, its just really powerful. Crockett, the man once hailed a hero in Vice, reduced to a man who has guns pulled on him by all of his former colleagues. It's great television. The look on Gina's face says it all, too. Long Live Miami Vice.
Love that 80's ponytail, love the 80's.. the world and escpecially America has become a sick twisted paranoid hateful police state place with terrible music, tv, movies, I hate it and would kill for a time machine!
The spin off from this show was amazing at the time...I was in the fashion industry in the early eighties and guys were all of a sudden discovering YSL, GQ magazine, Peirre Carrdin and Armani. They they wanted to look good like Crocket and Tubbs off the show. Of course the real Miami Vice sqaud of that time could never afford that image. No Ferrari's, Scarrabs or Armaini!!!!
Amazing how this show changed television crime dramas. or at least defined a specific type of crime drama. The classic detective/murder mystery shows continued on the cbs roster, but nbc's miami vice crossed the the realm of televisions and feature film, it showed the eclectic neon latin world of florida. and realm of the international drug trade was never seen before vice. It was cool, the first show extreme living on the heals of Scarface.
Don was a good looking Rooster back then. I was a teenager and never missed an episode. People forget how popular it was, and inovative in TV making. Of course it would be with Michael Mann at the helm.
@Zbyszek1707 Yeah, I didn't realise how good we had we had it then. I'm sounding like an old man, but who could have foreseen the cultural apocalypse we live in now?
@EBTerriers Now if they did should it be 80's era or should it be modern? my upinion is they should keep it in the 1980's because that movie they made SUCKED!!!!
have to admit, i loved this show..and they had tons of great music from the best artists ..i miss the style of the 80s and the music of the 80s, definitely blows todays style and music out of the water in general..thanks for this vid and music
Loved this show, wish I could afford the seris on DVD. By the way, if you scope El Gato's Necklace, it's the Thundercat's symbol lol. But yeah, loved this show, this and Huntr were the only 2 cop shows I ever watched that I thought were worth the time. Plot, character development, and Miami Vice had awesome style amd music to top it off.
The 80's were awesome! When I was younger I never thought about this but when I got older I wondered how two cops were able to afford expensive cars, expensive jewelery, and expensive clothes? Take money? Working lots of traffic details? Just can't figure that one out.... :)
@mikeknight4u The first idea was that Tubbs and Crockett, as undercover cops, had to dress up as high class drug dealers do. So all the gold and jewels were financed by the police department (our taxes ;-)
@garethhamilton111 Soo right! This is the main scene of the whole series for me I still remember! It left that much of an impression! Now, tell me how many show today leaves such a good impression as this show did?
Don's wardrobe and hair looks alot like this in one of his early films after Vice; The Hot Spot, minus that cool little ponytail he's sporting here. I noticed he can look good despite his hair or clothes, it all works for him!
THE PART WHEN HE WALKS IN THE SQUAD ROOM AND THEY ALL DRAW ON HIM, MAN THAT PART MAKES ME TEAR UP A BIT. IT'S CROCKETT, BUT IT'S NOT THE CROCKETT THEY ALL NO. GREATEST SHOW EVER
I can relate to this, bec. i had lost everything ,but the song help get me back on two feet , due to a bad situation and the god help out from above ...the realty of the real world. yes , it's made my heart ask for redeption... god work in strange ways!

the feeling that miami vice used to have started fading away in season 4.. season 5 wasn't nice at all.. all styles, colors etc were changing and the whole colorful 80's feeling that the series used to have kinda went away..
while understanding your thoughts and opinions, and agreeing somewhat. I think after Sonny went so deep that he got lost was the ulitmate. And there was nowhere to go after that. Damn shame. Best program for years.
I always find it kinda sad the series ends in the same season the Crockett/Burnett saga ends. Season 5 feels rushed towards the end and the budget had apparently been cut back aswell which is why season 5 has less songs.
If I remember, it was a 2 episode story, Crockett was udercover with a drug gang lead by El Gato, and due to an explosion he lost his memory of being a cop and though he was a real drug dealer. This is the climax scene when he starts to remembers his past and walk into his old Police station.

the feeling that miami vice used to have started fading away in season 4.. season 5 wasn't nice at all.. all styles, colors etc were changing and the whole colorful 80's feeling that the series used to have kinda went away..

while understanding your thoughts and opinions, and agreeing somewhat.

Love this scene with the music. this episodes, where Sonny turns are the best. These are the most emotional episodes.

oh my gosh I remember watching this I think it was about `1987 or 88. It was such an emotional scene for some reason at the time.

If I remember, it was a 2 episode story, Crockett was udercover with a drug gang lead by El Gato, and due to an explosion he lost his memory of being a cop and though he was a real drug dealer. This is the climax scene when he starts to remembers his past and walk into his old Police station.
Hope I helped refresh your memory.
