  • Maybe the intro is uncle Fester

  • hes singing about his guitar you know

  • Still miss Rickie Nelson and his travellin man,

Great song with the 4 Preps.

  • wow im getting old i recall this... great video thanks

  • Emile Meyer, introduces Ricky

  • Grüße Fräulein, Sturm-Verbot-Führer, it is the corrected song, more very feels better wataburger of the songs, that was of I a boy during commerce, what many stations, that very had played a better substance, than so emfatiza I in of the way the scene of the perforation of the dance it them years '80-years nevertheless I small he likes dry of that to nonorquestramos of louie

  • Four Preps preppy, boring style of harmony kills this Everly Brothers song. Even Ricky can't pull it off. I wonder if he'd chosen this song and it's arrangement if he'd have it more with a strong rocking guitar and his great voice and style.

  • His brother Dave, and I also think Ozzie Nelson was in the audience. Dunno who the lady with Ozzie is, maybe Rick's g/f

  • How about Red Skelton on the intro!!....classic video!!

  • @toddwindyhill That's not Red Skelton.

  • @John1948Ten So then who is it?

  • @staggmovie I have no idea who it is. I know what Red Skelton looked like. I do not know this guy.

  • @John1948Ten The man that is introducing Rick is actor Emile Meyer (1910-1987).

  • This is my second favorite Ricky video:D

  • I keep wondering who is that brunette in the front on the left that's in several scenes? Great smile and great looks.

Does anyone know? I'm also wondering if they are hand picked to be up front?

  • @jodykeydash ROFL. I used to think that about the babes on AMERICAN BANDSTAND

  • Hey, that's grandpa (Al Lewis) from The Munsters TV show introducing them !

  • Aaahhh.....love this! Thanks to AGJ for sharing and to John1948Ten for posting this! Thank YOU!

  • Love this video, thanks for posting it!!!

  • the look on Ricky's face tells me it was not a good day at the studio

  • @emb1st Rick (imo) was a serious pensive kind of lad. I dunno if he was angry .. just placid. Just guessing here.

  • hey Bruce, I ordered your greatest hits about 6 months ago..The 4 Preps were part of my life in the 50's and 60's..Always thought you guys were under rated..You are part of an era when this country was WHOLE...

  • The 4 Preps are not a good harmony match here, IMHO.

  • Hey coyotesong!

Bruce Belland here - Lead Singer of The Four Preps (that's me just off Rick's right shoulder).

Curious to have you explain "not a good harmony match" ?!

Not angry - just real curious.

    Hope I hear from you.

  • Hi Bruce. It's great to have you stop by my channel. You guys brought me a lot of great music back in the dau which I remember foundly. Big Man, 26 Miles, Lazy Summer Night and Down by the Station - WOW! I still listen to them often. Thank you.

    John

  • Bruce, I never in a million years thought I'd hear from the lead for one of the all time great vocal harmony groups. What i was driving at was my unstated expectation of something twangier. This is a pleasant but untwangy harmony arrangement that I didn't much care for. So i perhaps misspoke.

  • Thanks for clearing that up! You are obviously a person of discerning musical taste. You're absolutely right... the arrangement is kind of vanilla, but then we brewed it up in about fifteen minutes between filming scenes on the show so, all things considered, it was adequate but hardly "twangy". Good to hear from you!

  • @TheFourPreps: Ricky and the four of you did a great job under the circumstances! I have to agree with emb1st's comment above - What was wrong with Ricky that day ? He looks sad, cross or something!

  • It's a sad song. Maybe he was emoting.

  • @TheFourPreps What a treat and an honor to be able to communicate with the lead of the Four Preps. I just want to thank you for all your wonderful music, and let you know that "Big Man" was always one of my favorite songs!

  • Bruce [TheFourPreps]... perfect harmony .... your group always has fabulous vocals and wonderful songs .... cheers!!!

  • @TheFourPreps . Bruce, Had to tell you how much I've enjoyed the Four Preps' music....26 Miles was the very first 45 I ever bought!!!!....Loved your live album you guys did back in the day. God bless.

  • @TheFourPreps HEY I remember when you guys were at UBC (Vancouver) in about '63. Noon hour show and it was GREAT. Glad you are still alive and well (like 60's is old?)

  • @TheFourPreps I remember this about you. From about 200 feet away, your huge grin was like a neon sign. No kidding. I sent you friend invite

  • @TheFourPreps I think that the Four Preps always had great harmony - they made some great songs - I liked Big Man and 26 Miles the best. Great stuff.

  • Wow nothing like it. Ricky is the best. Very very talented.

  • Wow this is early! Ricky looks so little! Never seen this before though. Thanks for uploading! ^_^

  • Ricky always sang this great... He did so as Rick too.

  • Never heard Ricky singing this..great..!!
