  • Wonderful video, so much info to process....I hope to try this soon.

    Thank you friend!

  • Very interesting painting technique!

  • This was really helpful and inspiring. Art can sometimes be frustrating for me, I guess I have my fair share of 'off-days'

  • I love, your amazing work!!!

Thank you for shering with us ...so this evening finally I tried too! It's Ok, but next time will be better :))))) .... I have the same question like Katshe-what kind of oils do you use. My canvas was 16x20 and I can say I used a LOOOT of paint

    Thank you in advance

  • @TheBoykaa I use Georgian oil paint you can buy at jerrysartarama in Raleigh NC. they sell a tube of Titainium White 225ml for $8.63 and the same for Gray, Naples Yellow, prussian Blue, ETC. the Cadmium colors are more and use Windsor Newton Winton, for yellows. They have sales at 15% to 20% and free shipping Iuse about one third of white for a 22x28 canvas, about 15ml Gray, Naples Yellow, Prussian Blue last layer, this makes the painting pop more than Phthalo Blue drys faster though. Thank you so, so much for the fast answer:))) .... I'll try again, I'm in love with your technique and just need some free time for a new experiment .,.if you were closer I could ask for some lessons :))))

  • this is amazing! I'm 19 and have been drawing and painting before i could walk. I've always stuck to photo-realism and just been really into deep detail... just recently i've been looking into abstract to mix things up and i could never get the hang of it! i'll definitely try this!! truely amazing!

  • @line112 Let me know if you have any problem, John

  • I did try this with acrylics that I had on hand to give it a try and it took sooo much paint to do my little 6"x6" square...Just wondering what type of oils you are using ...It seems very expensive to add soo much paint f...or me i mean as a starving artist person. could you tell me approximatly how muhc paint it too to cover with say like the last coat of blue?

definitely going to try this with oils if I can totally get them on sale :)

Love love you work :) :)

  • WOW Thanks so much for sharing. I truly appreciate it.

  • fantastic technique!!!!the colours are amazing!!!!!i love yr art.thanks for sharing with us.

  • So intriguing.

  • Beautiful videos and painting John...thank you for sharing..Love & Appreciation..CCFineArtPainting

  • I have some artists that are trying acrylics with this technique but have not heard from them as yet. I do not use anything to make the colors come through as the oils are fresh and all I use is pressure from the pallette knife, the more pressure the deeper I can go, John

  • Hi John I love the technique you are using. I was wondering if you can use acrylics for it. And also in part2 did you use water on your pallette knife to get the colours to come through. Thank you Pauline

  • Once I apply paint I do NOT ADD paint, and the paint must be wet for me to remove the layers of paint. The painting is started and finished within 2 days maximum or the paint starts to dry. As you can see by the demo I am always removing paint from the canvas, Jophn

  • @fatherofprismatics Sorry about that it should be John

  • did you wait for the blue layer to dry before you did that or no?????? :(

  • did you add paint each time you wiped it? i don't get it. :(

  • Anna thank you for your visit to my demo and your comments, John

  • WOW!!!

Amazing, God Bless You and your work!
