I think I'm experiencing the same problem as MusicBySav. When I add the movie to the background and enable it to render, the animation still only renders the first frame. In the background window, I select "auto refresh," but I don't see a similar option in the render settings.
Just copy the background movie/image onto the background buffer and enable it in the render. Pretty sure I covered that in this tutorial or maybe my camera projection one.
