Wes is going to Portland. Jazz are taking a huge hit right now after losing Boozer, and Kyle to Chicago. The Jazz will probably bring back Ronnie Brewer. Make Deron Williams happy again. And there's a possible chance of getting Al Jefferson from Minnesota. Not a bad pick-up after losing Boozer, though I never really cared much for him, anyways. You could never understand him. I'd like to see Matthews stay with Utah...But who knows what Kevin O'Connor is thinking.
I had the opportunity to meet Wesley while he was in his JR yr at Marqu...was a very nice and well spoken man...unlike the other two marquette players i met (D. James and D. Burke...both egocentric tools...). Not Wes...was very politce...glad he is succeeding in Salt Lake...my fav. ski destination.
Hahaha I went to school with Wesley...I bet he can't believe he's actually playing in the NBA right now! I knew he would make it to the NBA..I'm glad he got drafted by a some what decent team lol.
actually..believe it or not, he wasn't drafted. he was signed as a free agent. his work ethic impressed Jerry Sloan..he played in the summer league. He's made great progress cos he's a starter now. ever since CJ Miles' thumb got hurt in London, he's taken over the starting role. He's not just a rookie starter in the NBA but he's an UNDRAFTED rookie starter. Plus he's on course to make the all-rookie team. Coincidentally, his dad, Wesley Matthews Snr. is part of the Utah Jazz coaching staff
@sixfootnine thank you for the update that's cool...I really can't believe no one drafted him..I thought for sure he had been drafted seeing as how well he played in high school and college. That's just shocking, I'm glad he was eventually signed..He's got a lot of talent..I'm going to have to start following the Jazz now that I know he's a starter that's awesome!
