  • you dont need a display port monitor to run eyefinity, any displayport to vga adapter works.

  • @iqbal46anis Thanks for posting that. I was really wondering if my 5770 was going to let me use the displayport to dvi/vga adapter.

  • If any1 knows how to set desktop to just 1 monitor please tell me. I know how to do it in Windows 7. I have my middle monitor for desktop and i can use my left and right. The only problem is i can't go over 1920x1080 in games. So i have to set it as one big monitor.

  • AMD y u no develop bezel-less monitors? xD

  • @CmptrPrgmr You must have at least 1 displayport

  • @BlaqMarketProduction Nvidia graphics cards have a different solution called Nvidia surround, and for that you need an sli config

  • umm.. wat if u have an Nvidia gaphcs card and only 2 monitors. is there any way for me to do that?

  • @BlaqMarketProduction Eyefinity is an AMD only technology. You need an AMD graphics card to use Eyefinity.

  • @BlaqMarketProduction Yes, I just recently tested Two monitors with Eyefinity, but the bezel in the middle is a bit annoying, still was fun;p

  • Thanks! Finaly a vid that explains what I couldnt find anywhere else.. :-)

  • do all monitors need to be Eyefinity Compatible???

  • not sure if someone commented already, but you can run a "active displayport to DVI adapter" to use as the third monitor

  • @skprodgraphics can you run a "displayport to HDMI adapter" instead ? , with the 3 total monitors setup that is.

  • Awesome. Finally a vid that is actually helpful and gets to the point. Cheers

  • Nice Video.. May I ask you a question? I am having a two syncmaster 2253BW and one LG LV5500 42 inch LCDTV..I also purchased an ASUS 6850 Video Card. I have connected two dvi output to two 2253BW and Display port to LG LCD TV..However, I only able to connect two monitors at the same time..I only able to connect to (one 2253BW and LG 42inch) or (two 2253BW) at the same time..Do you know how can i connect all three monitors are the same time?thank you for your time.

  • Wow...15 seconds on actual hardware setup

  • thanks awesome vid on the set up cheers

  • Shameless yet completely relevant plug alert: Anyone with this type of setup should Google my wallpaper site 'Jim's Widescreen Wallpapers'

    Hope this helps, cheers.

  • Hello, I'm literally dying trying to set up Eyefinity @ home. Please kindly lend a hand if you got a few secs. I recently bought a new PC w/ ATI 6970 card, Win-7 (64bit), 3X Asus VE278Q monitors. The monitors supports (Display Port, DVI, D-sub, and HDMI); hence, the sales told me to buy some expensive DP => Mini DP cables; telling me its "Native". However, my computer just won't recognize the signals from my 3rd monitor. I've asked no less than 10 stores, & still no luck w/ active adaptor

  • Do you have to use a dp? Or can you use the 2 dvi and a hdmi?

  • @CmptrPrgmr you need to have display port for 3 monitors, but, I discovered that you can run a Dual monitor eyefinity with a DVI and HDMI recently, but two monitors isn't very good for gaming

  • ok ok i love the eyefinity setup BUT can i watch widescreen porn on "that thing" ?

  • @RRapDiss Only if the resolution was right lol. But you could easily have 3 Windows running that type of content in 1080P.

  • @RRapDiss And by "the content" I mean videos in general.

  • I need some advice, I am trying to set up the 3 monitor setup in Eyefinity with a 5870 card. i have 2 monitors on dvi and the 3rd using an active adapter. when i go to catalyst control, which I updated to the current version. it shows that 3 monitors are displayed but the screen looks different than the one on the video and the monitors do not have a black triangle on them to create or expand, how do I fix this? I will restore my computer to where I first installed the 3 monitors to start

  • There are display port adapters :P

    so its not must have.

  • man, I would totally need to set my mouse to extreme sensitivity

  • aahhh dont know if i like that..... i LOVE it in the games but from just seeing it for the first time in regular window operations, jjust looks too extreme and inconvenient....... so you always hav to have your head cocked to the side on the left monitor? i was under the impression all windows activity would be in the middle monitor and the eyefinity would get in for games.....

  • @kenny8076 you can do that, but it would be annoying as you would un plug em, then do what he just did for games. or i was thinking with the whole order thing maybe you can set everything (time and start button) for the middle screen then just turn off the other 2, then for games just turn them back on, i dunno if that works

  • After I create the eyfinity 3x1 group there isn't any "properties" tab to be clicked, under the desktop reso, there's no 5760x1200 resolution. It's all 600x480 or something.

  • Thanks a lot

  • thnx for the info m8, no bshit.. straight forward

  • Very straight forward and helpful. Great video and thanks a million!

  • So can you use a display port adapter or does it have to be built in?

  • @zoidberg02 u can a display port adapter there only like 20-30 bucks

  • hi, what kind of video card are you running? Do you lose video signal form one of your monitors when you alt tab out of a full screen game or any full screen application?

  • so a third monitor must have a displayport for it to work? or can i use a displayport to HDMI adapter and that will work fine too

  • @BenEvans39 If you use an adapter you need to use an active one. I'm not sure if there are any on for hdmi but I recommend buy a displayport to VGA one or the cheap Sapphire active displayport to DVI.

  • @TeeDjayyy Yeah i thought so... sigh.. anyway ordered an active DP Adapter and should hopefully have 3screens by tuesday/wednesday

  • @BenEvans39 I think thats only for a graphics card that HAS a display port. For instance, the 6770 (MSI Twin frozr II edition) supports 3 way eyefinity, but does not have a display port on it, so it all matters on the card.

  • @Jayjon81 The Gcard he is using has the capability of using multiple moniters with only a single GPU

  • Much apreciated!!!

  • can u use active addapters?????

  • First 10 seconds answered like 15 of my 20 questions!! THANKS!!!

  • is that in xfire mode or is this just one Gcard?

  • i love this guy

  • i just plugged in ONE monitor on my DVI, doesnt turn on, i go to Desktops & Displays and it doesnt appear.

I'm using a brand new Sapphire HD 6790 1GB, if i plug in one more monitor on the Displayport, will Both monitor appear?

  • I know you said that atleast one of the screens had to have a native DisplayPort. But if I buy the 6970 instead. Wouldnt it work with two DVI and a HDMI?

  • @TheRammsteizer no you need the mini display port

  • THANK YOU so much

  • Question to Linus or anyone who can answer it,

I got 24" monitor but looking to add 2 17" Vertical on either side, first I would appreciate if someone could recommend 2 x 17" monitor, the thing is my 24" will be main display using DVI and my 2 vertical one will be using DVI and other needs display port, If i was to buy display port to dvi and connect all 3 on dvi will that work? if not would really appreciate if someone could recommend 2 17" monitors

  • @Blackjack786 2 out of the 3 monitors will be using DVI-I remember that DVI-I not DVI-D like the majority of monitors out there if your not sure type on google images DVI and it should come up with a chart comparing the different DVI connections. The third monitor will have to be using a ACTIVE CONVERTER which converts display port into DVI-D or DVI-I which ever one you buy. an active display port make sure there is no quality loss where as a standard converter will loose quality.

  • @JJROADSTA Thanks pal, appreciate the reply, yeah I understand the DVI connections, just wanted to make sure that I wouldn't face any issue, its hard to find 17" decent display, will order converter from Dell, If I loose quality its going back lol, Thanks tho really appreciate it.

  • Question!!!!!!! Wich screen does he / you have

    LG

  • i have one lg w2363d and one beng e2220hd and i wanna try dual monitors but when i click on create a group it comes up (the only displays availbe already belong to exstendet desktops to create a gruop the desktops must first be disabled) what do i do.

  • Comment removed

  • there are certain Displayport to DVI adapters that allow eyefinity to work.

  • i have a problem. im running 2 DVI monitors, and i got a DVI to display port adapter and plugged it in for the 3rd one. it says the monitor isnt getting a signal. can someone help?

  • @ZeroKlutch In order for eyefinity to work with a Display Port adapter, you need to make sure that the adapter is ACTIVE, if it's not an active adapter, it won't work. This might be the problem if the monitor is powered, but doesn't seem to be getting a signal. Try testing the monitor's DVI port with the GPU alone to make sure it works, and try using the adapter without the other two monitors... You may just need a different adapter (an Active DP to VGA adapter tends to work great too).

  • @CT5Holy i just got my AMD Eyefinity approved adapter in the mail today. i hooked it up and i have the same problem. i have tried different monitors with it and the one with the adapter is always black. it has a signal. my computer detects it but when i go to the monitior setup the screen is grayed out and small. any suggestions?

  • @ZeroKlutch You have to have a monitor that supports Display Port, from what I heard. No other way. :/

  • wich version of Catalyst Cotrol Center is this?

  • how can you make the start menu come in the middle and clock on the same screen but still stretching it to 3 monitors

  • Can this be treated as 3 seperate displays (I have a 32 in TV as my main monitor, then 2 15 in screens off to the side?)

  • 2 DVI to DVI or HDMI ?

DISPLAY-PORT to HDMI or DVI ?

  • how exactly do i set up my displayport i have a active displayport to single-link dvi adapter its there on my catalyst control when i enable it,my monitor doesnt receive signal, i dont know what wrong ? even when i just plug it in, When in windows doesnt receive signal, says its plug in but no signal :S

  • Why do you guys feel the need to correct Linus on a blog thats going on 2 years old lol.

  • you DON'T need "native DisplayPort monitor", Adapters will work

  • It HAS to be a native DisplayPort monitor? Adapters won't work?

  • @psnSnakeAes its active display port .not native

  • buy a widescreen tv

  • Where do i get a native display port monitor?

  • @vetteLife4 i just got a HISone for $35 from amazon type in "eyefinity display port" thats how i found it...hope it helps

  • @vetteLife4 its an adapter not a monitor by the way

  • you dont fucking need display port monitor ffs

    buy an adaptor +_+

  • hmm i don't get the option to set the resolution to 5760X1200...computers fail me again

  • can I use a displayport to dvi adapter instead of using a native display port monitor?

  • @nachcozz yes you can, that's what most people use. Just make sure it's active. And finding native displayport monitors is just a pain from what i've heard

  • @MrNovo17 It's not as painful as finding the active adapter. But they do come with a hefty pricetag attached.

  • @fxc2 20 bucks for an ati certified adapter on amazon....not that hefty

  • @buccaneersboy39 Read again. I meant the Native DP displays.

  • @fxc2 then yes your are right....big price tags indeed!

  • if you buy an adapter for displayport to DVI/HDMI, it MUST be an active adapter. Passive adapters will not work, so make sure you check that it's active before you waste your money

  • @MrNovo17

How do i know if its passive or active?

  • @nachcozz usually it should say right in the description. All active really means is that the adapter is powered, at least that's what i understand of it. Most active adapters that i've found are anywhere from 80 to 150 dollars which is a pain....BUUUUUTTTT Sapphire has come out with an active displayport to dvi adapter that works very well for about 30 bucks that you can find on newegg. i just got mine last week and it's working flawlessly with 3 23" Samsung 1080p monitors

  • hey! i got 3 screens hdmi, vga/dvi and dvi only get 2 X 1 cant enable 3 screens

    help me!!!

  • hey! i got 2 Screens with DVI port, and a 3 with vga/DVI, can i buy a adapter that changes the displayport to vga or dvi? :)

  • @borggren95 yes

  • @borggren95 yeah Sapphire Active Display Port Single-Link to DVI Adapter is a good one goes for about $40-$50.

  • @Darcin8or now i bought the adapter and a new screen, but i can only choose 2x1 monitors when i click on the "create group" i know that every monitors are working but cant use all at same time...

  • My graphics card only has a mini display port and my monitor has only hdmi, vga, and DVI. So do i buy a mini display port to hdmi adapter or somthing..?

  • Got a question about that three monitors setup do they have to be the same trying to get mines to work I have three different ones also I have a adapter a dvi-hdmi all screens hdmi also what kind of active display port??

  • Can you use a DisplayPort adapter to a DVI monitor and still use Eyefinity?

  • how can i put my Start-button to the middle Screen ?

  • Can I make a 2x2 layout ???

  • @kalashraj333 u mean 2 screens, sure ive seen that but GLHF to aim xD

  • @bassesweswe well thnx .. i m now going to use datapath image4 card. It provides better layout management.

  • nice video. It's short. But go straight to the point. That what I need :D

  • Yeah, you don't need a native DisplayPort monitor. Just buy an ACTIVE DisplayPort to DVI adapter. Got mine for $26 bucks from NewEgg.

  • just so you know, you dont have to use a native display port monitor. all you need is 3 dvi monitors with an active display port adapter. i just ordered the adapter for 35 dollars on tigerdirect. display port monitors are hella expensive.

  • can't you use HDMI and then 2x VGA ?

  • @rangemaple6 lol Little faggot has a bigg homo brother lol I Live 194-200 Harborview Dr

Tavernier Florida Bitch now come to me soo i can beat the shit out of ur faggot ass pussy lol ur little brother is a pussy lmaoo what did he come crying to his big queer brother Lmao! Btw come to my house Itd make my day You Twat

  • @rangemaple6 it said January 2011 Lmaoo ur a epic failure with a shitty pc

  • @rangemaple6 Im sure you do.. anyways those are old weak cards and ur still wrong so go play with you toy k'nex train your not old enough for computers i saw your channel your like 11 And all your computer videos are complete and utter garbage there simple things that your still doing wrong .

  • @rangemaple6 No you'r not i have a 6970 with eyefinity i know You dont even have eyefinity and you have no idea what your talking about

  • @rangemaple6 yeah with display port not 2 dvi's and a hdmi you need atleast 1 display moniter port to run eyefinity

  • @rangemaple6 no

  • hey can u play movie on eyefinity

  • i use a HD6850 but i can only use 2 monitors at the same time? why?!

  • @kimpan23 you need to use one display port monitor or 1 active display port adapter :P i got 6970 once i hooked up the adapter it worked instantly

  • @un1b4ll: I tried this method with two DVI and one HDMI, all supporting 1080p, on an HD 6850 card, and I could only create groups with two monitors. I know the author said you need DP, but you say otherwise. Could you help me out here? Anyone who knows, please private message me.

  • thanks m8 just needed this:P

  • ..... you creep the shit out of me

  • I can't connect 3 monitors, only works with 2 :S

  • can i use a hdmi output and 2 dvis or do i have u use display port ? please repli thanks

  • Talk slower!!!! What? Are you trying to get this done before the boss catches you or something?.... and take more time with the cable hook ups as your eyefinity 3 monitor thing takes very demanding cables setup. Also, talk about alternatives that include the active or passive connections.

STILL TRYING TO GET MINE WORKING!!!

  • I want to setup my eyefinity displays like 3+1 , like the 3screen standard eyefinity setup + a separate screen for windows. i have an 6870 with 2 minidisplayport to vga adaptors but i cant seem to get it working???

    Anyone tried it yet?

  • why can't i use 2 dvi and one hdmi?

  • guys the camera man is a women watch 0:15 - 0:18

  • im sorry no offense and im not trying to be rude, are you a homosexual ?!

  • no you dont need a displayport monitor

  • @SRSpoony if not how to connect up? I have tried 2 dvi's and one displayport port.. no work.. I have never had so much trouble with a graphic card before.. LOL

  • @masterod1 dude buy a displayport to anolog adaptor by HP cost me 30GBP and just set it up like this. DVI and HDMI and DP all draw too much power to work without using the usb side of things or a real displayport monitor. anolog takes half that. i have had mine working like this for 5months and never had one problem at all.

if you get more problems mail me direct on youtube

  • haha1!!!! i saw camera man face !!

    EH

  • @Kraftpt what time ??!?!?!?!?!

  • @thekingzz1975 0:15 In the big screen reflection!!!

  • just got an active HIS HDPSDVIEYE for 40 bucks

  • Can you use 2 DVI and 1 HDMI port?

must the display port absolutely be used? I don'T even know what they are for lol. My old pc is 7 years old, sad.

    please answer

  • @momorgoth One MUST be a display port.

  • Is it really necessary to get the same size monitors on the out sides? Was curious since it's only for peripheral vision.

  • Hi Linus - I have obtained a Display Port to VGA adapter for 25 bucks US and it does the job perfectly. Please indicate to your viewers in the future (and you may have in other videos) that ATI has a listing of validated DP adapters, and the user can either use an active DP to DVI adapter (around $100) or use a DP to VGA adapter. Both adapters must be active (the DP to VGA is) to enable three screens in Eyefinity.

  • lol that guys got add or something

  • :( I've got 4650 and i can't use my 2 Monitors as Horizontal Span, Just "DualView", I hate this. XP has Horizontal Span and I could play GRID, CRYSIS with 2 monitors. This is one of the first things I hate from windows 7

  • HELLO PEOPLE.CAN I USE 3 DIFFERENT MONITORS? THEI ALL 22INCH BUT DIFFERENT manufacturer???? thanks

  • @djuha24

yes - If all monitors don't have the same res/fresh settings. You have to use the lowest one.

  • linus pls answer me

    what is name of monitors?

  • can i do this with my HD 4650 ???, i mean, Share the screen cuz when I open a game, it just appear in the Primary monitor :(

  • @GogiRB i read only the 5xxx cards and the followers

  • I have the 5770 with 2 DVI and 1 displayport to hdmi adpater what do i need to get it to work?

  • Can you use a Display Port to DVI converter/adaper in place of a native Display Port monitor? I have three 28" LCDs and they are only DVI or HDMI.

  • @DeeSwizzle

Yes you can use an adapter no problem. It has to be an Active dvi->dp

  • Wow.... so this new technology causes me to spend 600$ more just to save me the trouble of scrolling and using the alt-tab button?

    Fuck me.

  • so is the hypothetically the same if i were to use my 2 video cards totaling 4 dvi ports out to 4 monitors? i'm assuming its pretty much the same

  • @adampope64 Of course there were active adapters available at launch. There were active adapters available for the launch of the 4xxx series. Where exactly are you getting your "research"? You should try Wikipedia before posting.

  • FUck my Nvdia! I Want this!!!

  • Hi, where can I buy an active minidisplayport/displayport to hdmi adapter?

    Thanks a lot.

  • @Anakamcito

active displayport -> DVI are about 100 bucks - g00gle is your friend

  • @Sectionxx8 where not how muck :P

  • @Anakamcito In a shop.

  • @kaloryfer99999 THANKS.

  • yea i just brought a monitor for more money when i didnt have too

  • you dont have to have a displayport monitor, but you cant go wrong when purchasing Dell's displayport 23" monitor. I have it and it's frickin great! It's only $300 and $20 more for the displayport cord. It's a good investment and the picture is crystal clear. Oh, and have fun finding a displayport adapter in your town. Im in a relatively small town and I would've had to order it. And thats fine, but I had the money so I just ordered the Dell cuz it's badass!

  • @XxDELIVERENCExX go out

  • @carlybaby69 go out? If you are suggesting that I "go out" and find one, ive already solved my problem by buying the dell, like 6 months ago. But thanks for you helpful advice.

  • @XxDELIVERENCExX go out

  • will the PowerColor Active DisplayPort to Single-Link DVI-D Adapter work?

  • where can you actually get Eyefinity?

  • @scrpity get an ATI 5xxx or the upcoming AMD 6xxxx card. buy an active displayport to dvi adapter and you're off!

  • @scrpity You have to get a ATI Radeon Graphics Card that supports Eyefinity.... I think the ones in the 5000 range do...

  • if you have dual 5870 can you have more than 3 monitors, for example 5?

  • @YiDog21

you will have to buy a HD5870 eyefinity 6 edition card to get 6 monitors

  • what does native display port mean?

  • Will this work with a Monitor that has 3 inputs, DVI, VGA, and Display port?

  • Do all monitors must be the same size and resolution?

  • just got 2 more monitors. this video helped alot!

  • I am about to test something guys - but from all my extensive reasearch on many different websites i have concluded the following simple rule (although i am yet to test it on wednesday):

If your graphics card has a Displayport ++ (check on the box for a logo that looks like the display port logo just with two + symbols stacked vertically to the left) Which the 5970 Black Edition card does, then you WILL be able to use a Passive external adapter for converting DP signal into DVI or HDMI.

  • 2 questions

    1. I've heard (from people like un 1b4ll) that you do NOT need a native display port monitor, is that true?

    2. Do all monitors need to have the same resolution? Because I'm thinking about having one 1080p monitor to use with my 2 crappier monitors.

  • Nice "eee-shirt" ^^

  • thnx this was really helpful

  • Can I use this with 2 DVI cables in my graphics cards and one DVI cable in my motherboard?

  • @fatsug50 no

  • at the end, it sounded like you were about to cry.

'thanks for checking out my video blog'

  • @CreatureFearing hahaha thats was funny

  • for those of you who lack self sufficiency in conducting research regarding eyefinity monitor configurations and adapter requirements, visit amd-news.com/assets/files/amd-cn/Eyefinity_SetupGuide_v1_AMD.pdf and scroll down to the configuration table where it is all made very clear. after carefully reviewing the information, if you fail to be enlightened, please punch yourself in the face on my behalf.
