I remembered watching this every week when I was younger. I'm so disappointed at Iron Chef America, it doesn't do as much justice compared to this one, even though I would rather see this with subtitles.
when i watch this now again, the tv show's way of portraying the magical value and art of cuisine and the epicness of the battle of highly skilled people kind of relates my mind to how animes can be dramatic as well (japanese style of entertainment) (it's also kind of funny). i may not make any sense right now tho.... can't explain. anyway i love it XD
You know I don't like Americas version of Iron Chef...The term "Iron Chef" means the main chef calling all the shots...in Iron Chef America you got all this type of chefs in one group making their own dishes...if that's the case then they should have named it Iron Chef's America not Iron Chef America...don't you agree?
In terms of entertainment, the Japanese appreciate a more dramatic approach. It's simply part of their culture--Japanese theater is a good example of this. By saying what you did, you're essentially being racist.
No, it was a weekly television series in Japan, and was brought to the United States by the Food Network, who did the english dubbing. It ran for about 6 years ( 93 to 99?), a bit over 300 episodes. Good stuff.
The Food Network's Iron Chef America is based on the original Japanese version, but most Iron Chef fans find the American version, uh, well, less than satisfactory.
That's odd...I remember when I first started watching the show on Food Network I used to think they were showing Kobe practically every other week. I kept thinking when they were challenging the IC: "Pick Morimoto, please pick Morimoto..." 'Cause they almost never showed a Morimoto battle then.
chen kenichi is my favorite. he is not only humble but he is entertaining. i like sakai also. im a redneck from close to atmore alabama and i know how great this show is. and the culture that produced it.
Im always confused between the classification between rednecks and hillbillies. I like hillbillies more because I like the CLampetts from the Beverely Hillbillies.
I think mochi is a great choice. It is so versatile, and I've had it with broth as a sort of noodle-alternative. I actually prefer it that way, and i think that's how it's supposed to be. Adise from dango and such, mochi was never traditionally a desert.
I agree, I've only tried it with ice cream inside but i think mochi is a wonderful ingredient.
I really appreciate the fact someone has posted stuff like this. Archo, I have a request if you have any of the Desert battles, could you upload some of those too?
A fine battle, but the audio on this one seems to be weaker than the others... I had to turn up the wave and master volumes on my computer all the way just to hear it.

Mochi is awesome stuff, especially when it's got the cherry-blossom petals worked into it. (Sakura-Mochi.)
Thanks for uploading Archo. Though... honestly, I wonder what it would have been like, had the challenger chose Michiba-san.
