  • amazon has them for cheap

  • Where did u get it

  • i have a usn version of this knife i bought it for $102 it even has the same sheath lol i think we bought it at the same website?

  • You look like that guy from Fantastic 4 ! The one who can stretch lol .

  • @otetechie, what knives would you recommend then?

  • Where can I find a K Bar like this one?

  • @torgomax no where because 'k bar' doesnt exist...you might find a 'ka-bar' and they are all over the place

  • @1337Leva Your a douche

  • @Krossceeper1234 and you can go fuck yourself for all i care.

  • @Krossceeper1234 stay mad

  • @1337Leva Hey, I just got back from an 18 hour road trip..I think a few typos are to be expected!

  • @torgomax Who cares about your problems? No, you are not allowed any typos.

  • @1337Leva very retarded ...

  • @Krossceeper1234 says the guy who fucking replied to himself...

  • @1337Leva get mad bro, so wheere can i buy a K BA?

  • @Krossceeper1234 in your mom's useless vag where i fucked her...

  • My Ka-Bar is serrated towards the bottom xD

  • Republic ! If u can keep it.

  • The US Army also used the ka-bar

  • Ka-bar ooo-rah

  • The KaBar Fighting Knife is as American as hot dogs, apple pie and Ronald Reagan!!!

  • @wnyvideo just that apple pie is not originating from the us

  • @MutsuKazuma Well, the best ones are made in America with American grown apples... Feel better now?

  • so why is the blade color black????

  • unfortunately the small tang renders it rather obsolete in the modern age.

Its still a durable knife for killing, but its lousy in the survival situation. And in war, a knife needs to have survival properties. Good collectors knife, wouldn't trust it hiking myself though.

  • @somals fighting knives and survival knives are very different. These are great combat knives and are carried into battle battle daily by real soldiers.

  • @otetechie No, they are not. I cannot think of much more of a survival situation then one you would face while in a war zone. A knife used in war should have a minimal requirement of being a survival knife, with whatever additional features needed for killing.

Just look at Vietnam or Korea. Heck, even Iraq. They all put soldiers into situations which are survival situations.

If you cannot trust a knife to stand up to a survival situation, why would you trust it in war?

  • @somals the problem is that you aren't thinking this all the way through. KABAR's can break if you use them a lot to baton wood. There are a lot of tools out there designed to split wood. They are called axes. The reason most military people aren't worried about the KABAR breaking during processing wood for a simple reason. We are not going to be doing that. The last thing you want to do if you are alone in enemy territory is build a nice camp fire, light discipline!

  • @otetechie A KABAR does great at the kind of utility tasks the military puts it through. Killing people, killing animals, skinning animals, opening MRE's, opening a lot more MRE's, and other general cutting tasks.

  • @otetechie ...im having trouble comprehending this. You honestly think your not going to be in a situation wherein you will put your KA-BAR through similar situations in war? True, the once specific example of building a fire is correct, but if a KA-BAR has such an obvious flaw in its structure, it puts it at risk of breaking when, say, opening a metal tin can storing food (this is an actual example, which i have heard of twice, one of which was from a person i know IRL).

  • @otetechie It is flawed, and therefor there is no reason to carry it into battle when there are other equally good knifes, just as sharp and effective, which WONT break when put under reasonable amounts of stress.

  • as far as leather goes mine is over 40 years old and the leather is fine.

  • I had just got this very same knife. I absolutely love it.

  • Put mink oil on the leather ,never will rot . Had mine since 92' . No rot ,no problem .

  • I have A Ka-Bar Like Knife.... But it's Branded By Columbia.... it has a synthetic handle in balck like the one u showed in diagram.... but the base of the clade has no cave in... mine is just one flat blade with no design what so ver... haha.. cool blade though...

  • this is one of the best knives out there, but i cant understand why i fail to get it sharp? i have alot of sharpening experience but the ka-bar, just cant get it rigth and it pisses me off

  • @Oozy9Millimeetah See virtuovice channel, he has a lot of great videos about knife sharpening and in one of his videos, he gives the KA-BAR usmc knife a scandi grind.

  • Have the same knife great knife but I find it hard to get an edge on it since the metal is so hard

  • Wait, what was that about the stacked leather handles dissolving? That is the model I have, and I would hate for that to happen to me. I've never heard that before, and would really appreciate some more information about it.

  • i just got a ka bar from 1943 but im not sure if its authentic if it is can anyone tell me what it would be worth

  • I bet loads of people came here because of resident evil

  • Can so one tell me were I can find a KA BAR

  • @SuperButthole7 Amazon is a great place to find one. I got mine there, it was very cheap.

  • Just bought the same one today , with the US ARMY insignia on it.

Got to have at least one of these in your inventory.

  • best song ever at 3:21

  • I always felt a little safer carrying my KA-Bar during my 25 years of service in the USMC (taped upside down to my harness for quick release). Now I have a nephew serving in the Army doing some cleanup work inside the sandbox in Iraq & was researching if I could send 1 in the US Mail for him when I came across this site. The question: What do I buy depends on the use & individual, however Toddingram1000 made a very good analogy. Semper Fi wardogs.

  • I have a ka-bar from the 60s that killed some vietnamese guy in vietnam

  • i got the exact same KA-BAR for $30 at a gun show when i asked the guy selling it (who wasnt paying that much attention to me) when he labeled the price on the box at $90

  • Should fighting knives have a straight edge?

  • do you think this will work good as a camp knife!!!!

  • should i get serrated, or straight edge, im going camping, and maybe hunting small game, what should i buy?

  • @carlyle0229 if you're going to use it for processing wood, then get the straight edge, but for cutting materials, than the serrated.

  • @carlyle0229 straight edge for processing wood, but serrated for other things like cutting rope

  • nice review

  • god I love this blade :] I think I will buy another one.. lol

  • I ordered a Ka Bar yesterday similar to this. I ordered the Foliage Green Fighter

  • the knife is actually the ultimate weapon...

  • If all tools the US army has are so unreliable like the kabar (it broke during simple batonning there where the blade goes thin into the handhold), it's no wonder the US army can't win a single war nowadays. However, I rewelded the blade (while cooling it against overheating and becoming soft) to several thick construction profiles and I remade the handhold. Now the high-quality carbon steel kabar blade attached to this mighty iron core - that's more like it!!!

  • @sutrar ,In WWII and Vietnam soldiers used knives like the Ka-bar for many things, but maybe not so much for this 'trendy'batoning thing.Get an axe next time. The Ka-bar is for killing assholes. Not splitting logs. Some people never get it..

  • @555Nato Well, you may be right. But still - I am of the opinion that the original tang going into the handhold was way too thin.

  • @sutrar ,I dont think the tang is too thin but the 'shoulders' of the tang(near the guard/handle) could have been rounded/sloping a bit like in the Ka-bar heavy Bowie. That would make it quite a bit stronger .But Becker-7 and ESEE-6 aint a bad option if you want to have that part to be substantially stronger. For combat the Ka-bar USMC is more than sufficient.Killing/stabbing people is easier on a knife than batoning.

  • @555Nato Yeah, you said it... For pure combat, you're absolutely right - the shape of the blade is optimal for stabbing, and the steel itself is a wonder. An asshole took my re-fitted kabar blade lying on the table and smashed with the sharp edge into a construction steel pipe. The edge showed no sign of damage (luckily for the asshole) and the pipe had a dent !!! Most impressive.

  • @sutrar ,yes the steel itself is very tough.1095 steel with a good heat treat is excellent steel. And that asshole was definitely an asshole...What an asshole yo abuse your knife like that

  • @sutrar name one war we've lost in the last 20 years

  • @AirJordanNate Well - both recent wars, Afghanistan and Iraq never really ended - thaey cost money, soldiers are dying and the whole thing takes more time and costs more than anyone anticipated without any clear promise of an end and the reaching of the goal - to install democracy in these lands. This reminds very much of the situation in Vietnam... But I agree that one less dictator and one less terrorist organization on this planet are reasonable goals to be fought for...

  • @sutrar yes i do think the war in the middle east is bad, but in some ways necessary, to end terrorism now i know that will never happen but at least we are trying over there so i agree withh you there. and dont even get me started on libya..

  • @AirJordanNate ,right on.If we wouldnt be doing anything then Bin Laden would still be planning his next bomb attack in the west.So it did have 'some' effect so to speak. These things are not all black and white.I do think that Vietnam was pretty much a useless war with too many unnecessary deaths. But that's history. Some things you only know what happens is afterwards. No domino communist effect

  • @555Nato what would be the proper saying of vietnam, did we lose or did we gain a technical victor, or did we just leave?

  • @AirJordanNate ,there was no military loss(2 or 3 million Vietnamese died vs 58.000 American soldiers). The real loss was in not winning the hearts and minds of the Vietnamese .In Europe the people were thankful for being freed of the Nazis. What can you do when the Vietnamese consider Americans as invaders and not as protectors from the communists. The problem of Vietnam was already there when the French went out.Maybe this whole situation was more of a colonial instead of befriended.Dont know...

  • @MrNapalm138 im glad I saw where someone said something about hunting with this because that's what im getting one for

  • Think imma get it

  • Great review! I have a many knives some worth more in price some worth less but I really love my Ka Bar fighting knife for hunting,it will skin a deer like no ones buisness!

  • sorry guy s i heard a other version for the name more "business related"

    Knife Attached Browing Automatic Rifle

  • @MrKnifekid The Kraton will wear in a few decades, the leather will outlast you and your children if taken care of properly, but will wear if you ignore it and put it trough harsh conditions.

  • I bought this before watching this video, but now I know I made the perfect choice =D

  • @MrKnifekid I have the kraton handle. I like it. The person who sold me my ka-bar said that with the leather pressed handles, that mold can grow underneath the handle.

  • ahm. if all they understood of the letter, was kbar, then how do you know what he wrote about?? :P

  • Just bought one today, KA-1211

  • @BigPapaBear1000 i just bought 4 KA BARS.. KA-1211 as gifts for dad and brothers :)

  • how much

  • just ordered mine yesterday KA-1258.

  • Awesome I have the ARMY version just got it today

  • this is the ak47 of knifes

  • @henryb8780 uh more the like m16 of knifes. the ak47 is a piece of crap. this knife is not crap and neither is the m16

  • @zipper978 Ok calm down Halo fanboy. Depends on which M16 you're talking about. The early M16s were some of the most unreliable weapons on the face of the planet. Ak47 has been proven for for over 50 years now to stand up to every kind of abuse imaginable.

The new HK 416 is completely reliable but it's not really an M16... Maybe when you get older and have some experience with these weapons outside of a video game you'll be able to speak intelligently about them.

  • @wtfdudenotcool101 the problems with the early m16 were fixed. the m16A4 is far better and more reliable. way better then the Ak47. Ive put thousands of rounds through my m16A4 when I was in the Marine Corps. and I have also shot the Ak. and I can say with confidence the m16a4 is a far superior weapon system. Im sure I have more experience with weapons then you.

  • @zipper978 I've been firing both for over 20 years now and I've had way more issues with my M16A1 than with my AK. M16 is much more accurate but lacks the stopping power. My M16 has many more jams.

My brother is a Gunnery Sergeant and has fired both for almost the same number of years. We talk about it all the time. I get the whole mindset of I'll take on 50 people but no you wouldn't make it out. Unless it was a platoon of retards.

  • @wtfdudenotcool101 Im sure you have had more issues with the m16a1. that is an old weapon system that had problems. all those problems have been resolved with the m16A4. Ive put 1000s of rounds through my m16a4 and it has only jammed when it was extremely dirty. yes the 7.62 is a heavier round but the 5.56 ballistics is much better. the 5.56 is designed to fragment in the body it tumbles and causes massive damage. it also has less recoil and you can carry more rounds then you can with a 7.62

  • @zipper978 The m16 was a replacement for the original m14 which was purchased by the US Air Force/ US Navy. The Soviets ak47 was made out of simple mechanics, steel, metal, and wood. It fired a relatively large caliber comparable to the .223 NATO round. This machine gun could be placed to the most rugged terrain and still work as if new. The m16 was made out of sinthetic materials (plastic) and metal. It constantly jammed and over-heated. The m16 is not like it is on call of duty fakeops...

  • @henryb8780 early model m16 may have had problems yes. but they have been fixed and the new m16s in use such as the m16a4 is an extremely reliable weapon. far better then an AK in every way

  • @zipper978 suck my soviet dick!

the ak47 was way more reliable than the m16

and what henryb8780 means that the kabar has wooden grips like the ak47 has

  • Comment removed

  • @zipper978 lol you have no idea do you, the m16 gets used all over the world because it is almost impossible to make it sease functioning, the m16 is a piece of shit rifle for the price it costs, or why do you think special forces dropped colt products for the scar because "the m16 is such a great rifle" definitely not

  • @MutsuKazuma really we dropped it? check again we still use the MK18. The scar is too heavy. It there was a substantial benefit we would deal with the weight. But it is basically just a heavier version of the same gun.

    Go back to playing airsoft.

  • @otetechie the 5,56 was dropped not the bigger bersion, and not because of the weight (sounds like you are the airsoft fag here complaining about a couple of grams more) but because of the price of buying a similar rifle with the same caliber all over again

  • @MutsuKazuma Really? just wondering which group you are in that you know so much about what we use?

"why do you think special forces dropped colt products for the scar" Now you are saying they never got the scar because of the price? You keep changing your story. You don't have a clue what you are talking about.

FYI when you are spending $20,000 on scopes and accessories a few hundred dollars difference for a rifle doesn't really make a difference.

  • @otetechie a few hundred dollars per piece on a 20 000 piece order makes a substantial difference

  • @MutsuKazuma Not when it isn't your money and you have a sizable budget. We spend millions paying the locals for things you destroy. You don't really think we could get whatever weapon we want?

  • @otetechie things you destroy? sounds like you are one hell of a dimwitted american, american forces are about the only ones destroying stuff in country's they have no right to be in

  • @henryb8780 yes but whats the Chey Tac .408 of knives?

  • I spent time in both the US Navy and in the Army. I didn't care for the Kay Bar much while in the Navy but once I got in the Army and served over seas I picked one up and it saved my life more then once. I love this thing its a great knife to have.

  • My grandfather was ARMY Infantry, as my father , my older brother and myself and we all carried KaBars in the military, yes, the USMC KaBar. The US ARMY KaBars are too hard to find.

  • @isisncasey check Amazon I got the army version there

  • I like the wood and leather finish, but not the USMC on it. I'm not comfertable with the initials of an elite fighting force on my stuff. I feel like its disrespect full. but fucking nice for the rest of it

  • through a war souvenir serbian helmet? No problemo! I love the Kabar

  • if your going to have a survival knife, you should actully have two knives, 1 with serrated edged for sawing and the other with a full-tang and non-serrated because the serrations can get stuck inside flesh when trying to pull your knife out of a body

  • Great Review Sootch! I have always loved the KA-BAR. My grandfather carried one during WWII(Battle of Okinawa) which makes owning one mean that much more. I am planning on adding one to my collection in the near future. Torture tested, Tried and True. KA-BAR, Gotta Love 'Em!!!

  • Should i get this or a Fällkniven F1 ?

  • leather sheath retains moisture and contributes to rust!

  • The ééénd?

  • Great review, Man. Santa Claus is putting one of these in my stocking this year, can't wait to get my paws on it. :o)

  • Firstly great video I agree hard to beat.

there are a lot of versions of the knife and of the where the name came from story, a great knife very functional.

there are also tons of clones frost makes a full tang one that is an inch or two shorter for under $20.

Ontario makes several I have one that is larger than the USMC K-Bar, the steel of the blade is too hard it takes forever to sharpen.

on a technical not I have a navy model it is a lot smaller with a no bowie and no blood groove.

  • Great review! I loved the story about how Ka-Bar got it's name..did not know that. I was a senior in high school when the first Gulf War broke out. My next door neighbor was a Colonel in the Marine Corp and went over, so I mowed his yard while he was gone. When he came back he brought me a USMC issue Ka-Bar. It is still my go-to outdoor knife....lose the leather sheath for outdoor use, in a salt environment it is inviting corrosion.

  • I gave my Ka Bar too my younger cousin, for a late B-day present. I will be issued one anyway... I cut a tree down with it in about 15, 20 minutes. The tree was six inches in diameter. Really worth it!

  • Hey guys, I would like a ka-bar but I still don't know if it is better with the leather sheat or with the nylon sheat.

Please tell me wich one is better and why!

  • @darknuke96 Get the Nylon, it will last longer, The Leather is more of a show case I guess, but I tend to end up cutting the damn sheath... I bought a Nylon for my cousin, it works great, and its sturdy!

  • you know what happens to people who fight with knives....? they get shot..... just kidding, i love my ka-bar, my sog seal pup is good when weight is an issue, and im saving my spivey sabertooth for the end of the world.....

  • ka bar

  • what is the best combat knife ? I would like to buy one. what do you recomend?

  • @TheAeroth uhhhhh ka bar the steel they use is amazing and will never chip out on you, i suggest ka bar..... go to amazon.com i got mine for 46 dollars!!!!!!!!

  • @TheAeroth If I were to have one knife that I depended my life on, it would be the Ka-Bar. It's not necessarily the ultimate combat knife, be it's been battle proven over and over.

  • @sootch00 thank you.

  • @sootch00 I would choose the fairbrain and sykes.

  • @sootch00 is the Gurka Kukri better?

  • Comment removed

  • @sootch00 whadda bout the okc3s

  • @TheAeroth the loredo bowie is a good fighting knife if not the best fighting knife. its long and durable and cut even the toughest of ropes and light metals. its pretty amazing

  • @TheAeroth if you can find one go for a camillus pilot

  • @TheAeroth the kabar usmc fighting knife! its perfectly sized so its not too big or cumbersome, but still cuts like a machete

  • Is the knife more expensive with the kydex sheath and synthetic grip?

  • great vid.....thumbs up my fellow american

  • I saw one excactly like this but it cost like $60

  • @mweymiller142 I'm so jealous, it costs around 140$ where I live.

  • @Angyal269 it cost 50 dollars were i live hahahahah

  • @mweymiller142 go to amazon they sell for 50 dollars

  • could it be a good survival knife?

  • you said you like straight over serrated...can you give some reasons...it would be a big help..Thanks

  • @drumjitsu serrations take up precious blade size....they might chip on you to, and they are tricky to sharpen

  • Comment removed

  • hi my name is Nick and i am from GREECE i start plaing AIRSOFT WW2 scenario and i believe this knife is perfect

  • why is the tang so much thinner than the blade? i hear it bends when people try to baton fire wood with it, i don't understand why they do not just widen the tang to handle that stress

  • @bagman234 knifes arent meant to baton.........buy a hatchet!!!!!!!!!

  • @KiiNgofTheCastle it is such a basic survival function that i would not trust it to do anything else

  • Hi, i love the look of the leather handle and sheath, but i want one for utility use and i know it will be exposed to the elements, so should i get the one with the synthetic handle??

  • Don't worry about the handle, have had mine for 20 plus years. Used in the military for almost 6 of those years. The sheath will go bad first, replaced mine with a Spec Ops Knife sheath and the knife still goes with me on camping, hunting, and etc... Great video's and please keep em coming.

  • Wats the difference between a bushcraft knife a hunting knife and a fighting knife really?

  • I got a U.S.N. KA-BAR knife that was my uncles during WW2 and the edge is still pretty sharp considering it's age.

  • You made a great purchase. I have had mine for about 23 years. Bought and used as a Scout in the Army. I dyed the sheath black, couldn't let an Army NCO be seen with USMC stuff. I also sharpened the false edge on top near the point. Don't worry about the handle, mine is in great shape, just a darker color now. The leather sheath started cracking last year so I replaced it with a Spec Ops molle sheath. Great review and a great knife.

  • You made a great purchase. I bought mine about 23 years ago when I was a Scout in the Army. Being in the Army I couldn't be seen with a USMC KABAR, so I dyed the sheath black. This knife I used hard and still use today for camping and hunting trips. Don't worry about the handle, mine is still very good, just darker in color. My sheath last year went bad, so I replaced it with a Spec Ops knife sheath. See if I get another 23 years out of it or me. Great review.

  • I got one with a leather sheath and the sheath would squeak as i walked, it wasnt very tactical so i had to buy the kydex sheath.

  • my kabar has the leather handle like yours but its wearing off. do u know anyway to repair it?

  • I'm looking to buy one of these, do you prefer the serrated or straight blade version?

  • @IandDuncan101 I prefer the straight edge over the serrated.

  • @sootch00 and why?

  • @sootch00 hey this is a supeer late response so i dunno if your position changed. But i was wondering if you could explain why u like straight over serrated? i was lookin into buying and didnt know wat to choose

  • @IandDuncan101

Do not get the serrated one.

  • I had one many many years ago. I used it alot and really liked the knife. I modified it a little tho to make it more useful. I cut off the top part of the gaurd so I could slide my thumb on the blade. made it really nice to use for finer work. I gave it away to one of our boys that went over to iraq and it served him well. Great review.

  • that's the real thing, man- with a kabar, you dont need any other blade.

    best from spain.

  • Thanks for your GREAT reviews!

They're just PERFECT: Top edition, sound/voice, images, timing, etc.

  • Great Review! The Kabar is as much a part of the Marine Corps history as the 1911 .45cal and Eagle Globe and Anchor we wear on our uniforms.

    Semper Fi!

  • HA! If I got cuaght with that here in the UK I'd be put away for about 8 years!

  • @xboxrulez12 you can own them here in the UK just not carry them without a good reason ;)

  • Great review! 5 stars

  • my father told me the same story about KA-BAR's origin. "I K A BAR wit cho knife!"

  • I bought one when I was 19, I'm 32 now. I still have that knife. Many have passed through my hands, but that KA-BAR has always stayed. Good knife. I've used it to make camp, even drive nails. It's on my grab-n-go belt. However, I need to upgrade and get a synthetic handle and kydex sheath model. Keep up the good work sootch!

  • Oh oh - there goes my money! Nice video - thank you! xoxo missy

  • Nice review! I've been looking for one for a while and cant find them for much less than 70 bucks! So I went into a local antique shop and searched a huge selection of old knives..Finally in the corner of this old dusty display case I found what looked like a old gi issue survival knife! turns out it was a usgi survival knife in the 30's...Its made by Cattaraugus model 225Q.

  • Very nice review...

  • I've alway wanted one of those KA-BAR's, ever since I was a child. A KA-BAR is high on my list of wants. The closest I have, is that stainless Buck knife with a black handle. I'm sure you know the one, they're about $40. @ Walmart. It's a good knife for hunting and what not but it doesn't compare to a KA-BAR. The part about the name KA-BAR coming to, was interesting. Great video! Very informative.
