  • Thos is why I like wranglers :)

  • does anyone know why they got rid of their drummer? I heard that he was over paid and refused to give them back the extra money. Is that true ?

  • @101southsideboy Something like that. He is being sued for 250K for money made during a memorabilia show that he didn't share with the other three. It's been going on for a few years now. Too bad too...he really changed the role of the drummer in country music like Alabama changed the group mentality in country.

  • Always liked that song ...

  • love this song beautiful still wish they made music like this

  • ya i grew up with my dad playing Alabama music my entire life. great voices, great music, great lyrics. They, along with a few others, are the epitome of country music!

  • @lnaneRexxx

i like the moxy, whose cut, you evince.

  • Billboard's #55 song of '82. Alabama hit #1 country, #5 AC, #15 pop, in Billboard. Cryin' shame that Barbara's producer wouldn't let 'em do it live, right, gang? God bless ya, Alabama cousins!

  • This was the first song of Alabama's I ever heard. Been a die hard fan ever since.

  • the guy on the left looks like a 80s pornstar. lol

  • Wish i could hit the re-do button and go back to 1981......Tracey R, i would wrap my lovin' arms around you, close my eyes and never let you go !!!!.....Miss you

  • there was a skating rink here in town that would play heavy metal and rock...but when they played country...this is the stuff they would play.

  • Love this song ,had such a crush on the lead singer too!!! :) Great music !!!

  • This is one fine tune, boys. I heard this back in '81 when I was in love for the very 1st time - and nothing else could capture that moment in my life better than this song. I will ALWAYS love you, Dusty .. no one could ever take your place.

  • I'm 16 years old, and i agree with everyone here. There isnt no music better than this right here. Alabama, you are the best

  • I listen to all music, well MOST music, anyway, If it's country, I don't make it past the mid-lat 90's, It's just turned to pop. :( They need to sit these young'ins down and let them soak up the old stuff...or just play the old stuff!

  • AWSOME NO OTHER WAY TO SAY IT!!!!!

  • damn I wish they still made country music like this

  • @wtmc1 I literally meet ''ALABAMA'' twice a year. Randy Owen is TRULY a nice man with a big heart, and so is Teddy Gentry. I don't like Jeff Cook though.

  • Brings back memories... flyin down dirt roads to yer favorite fishin' hole with the radio blastin out to the REAL country, like this. Aint nuthin' like it

  • brings back soooo many memories......... Ahhh 80's where you now? for that matter , 70's and 60's too. But Alabama is the very best , and runs right with the Eagles yes I was youg once and at the time Alabama was not known about......... but LORD the best was yet to come , thank you ALABAMA I love you and all ways will!!!!

  • @bethbarnett1 agreed. Every Alabama song was uplifting and full of family values. They didn't sing about crying in my beer cuz my baby done left me! They're a rare find. Simply the best ever.

  • @thebeastlacey apparently you haven't heard "I'm Stoned" off Feels So Right. best "baby done left me" song ever.

  • Randy makes me randy baby!!!!!! True music and true sex appeal at its finest!!!!!!!!!!What happend to bands like this?Where did they go? Everything sounds the same today.I'm over it, I will always be a classic country girl.

  • i like the guy on the right where he hops at 1:11 lol

  • Baby, you left me defenseless..I've only got one plea....too bad it's not like that anymore yanno? In these days people were loving it all, country, rock whatever....it didn't matter, ALL THAT mattered was talent and heart. End of Story.

  • Holy cow....they were so young in this video!!! Seems like yesterday when Alabama was hot in the early 80's.

  • A lot of bass players move around like that. Its called feeling the music...lol plus he knows he is on his way to make millions of dollars....Great group, im from Alabama

  • These's guy's can Do the best song's ever

  • Yep,this is yet another one of my very favorite songs, thank u for posting

  • Damn you know who this is your song?????? I hate it..

  • what with that dopey trucker dude jumping at 1:10 LOL

  • THEY WERE GREAT! ! RANDY has some great songs my favorite is, If I had you

  • I have very many fond memories of this song! It was popular when I lived in Miami as a kid~ 8 yrs old, in 3rd grade~ 1981~ I heard this song EVERY morning before I went to school! Such awesome memories!!!!

  • Hit #1 country, #5 AC, #15 pop in Billboard. God bless!

  • Heard this song on one of the channels of XM radio today. I don't think I've heard it since '81 probably -if that's when it came out.

  • i love this song. i listen to it in my dodge van

  • To all my Facebook Friends...every Alabama song has a meaning...not like the meaningless songs today...have a great Thursday!

  • Does anyone know the actual chord progressions to this song intro on guitar?

  • I loved Alabama as a kid. I so wish they'd reunite & make music again.

  • Thanks for posting this classic Alambama number, one of my favorites, and great feeling for the mood by the lead singer.

Baskerville - Ronnie Milsap, I thought so too. I wonder if he wrote it?

  • Does anyone have the original video clip for this fantastic song?

  • They look like Fenders to me. Not sure of what model

  • wonder what kinda guitars those are..does anyone know?

  • Thank you for sharing, great music

  • lost my heart in muskogee during this time. classic, thanks for posting.

  • Biggest pop hit they had (#15).

  • All things considered, this is an extremely well-written song. The lead singer deftly shades the internal rhyme scheme of the melody as if by instinct.

  • Sounds very much like a Ronnie Milsap song...

  • not much of a country person but i do like this song.

  • same here, I live by this rule for music ABC..Anything But Country however Alabama is a great band so I can listen to this era of country.

  • today's country music is NOTHING compared to what it used to be.

  • @MusicDude86 damn straight!!!

  • @MusicDude86 Totally agree with your comment. Enjoyed listening to Crystal Gayle, Alabama, Eddie Rabbitt, Don Williams in the late 70s and early 1980s. Still enjoy Willie. New country just is MISSING something...just don't know. Crystal Gayle's greatest hits is GOLD ! MPM

  • @MusicDude86 Amen to that & to think I grew up on country music.

  • A whole bunch of songs on T.V. werlip sync back then. It has nothing to do with fade mix. It had to do with budget, and

The studio version was done and fine.

you also didn't see any keyboards but you hear them. Untill Milli Vanilli got busted

    its how things were done.

  • Total lip synch...that is spot on the studio version. The line that ends ".........like a thousand times before" - .the "before" here has the identical studio echo in Randy's voice as in the recording.

  • and the fading? yehh its from the wiring. you know studios got mixers, mixers got faders, and the controller, < some guy fading them in get it?

ima producer so i kno :P

  • u'll never see or hear music like this now a days, remember when your dad would play these kinda musics, while hes under the truck fixing her up. damn..

ima give this 5 stars, fo makin me reminice lol

  • @RezLife03 funny that you say that. my daddy played this tune just for that reason.

  • @RezLife03 yep i know what ur talking about........what ever happen 2 this kinda music, this is REAL country music

  • They have incredible sexy beards !

  • you have an incredible sexy beard

  • those guys are from fort payne alabama . ......... we use to go to the june jam and the town was always packed at that time . but i rarely ever go to the alabama fan club.

  • one of the few times I saw one of them wearing a cowboy hat! These guys are southern and did country rock and did it better than anyone before or since!

  • I thought the sound tech was responsible for the fade, not the individual members of the band.

  • we only had an a.m. radio in our pick-up truck we'd drive about 2 hours to our farm outside of saint louis and the only station we could get that far out was 55 KUSA country and i know all these old songs.

anyway...they're lip-syncing this, just in case nobody noticed the perfect fade out at the end...live bands can't do that.

  • Noticed they were. The song sounded just like the original, even the fade out, but they did at least sing the song to begin with LOL. Gossshhhh I miss the good old days with Alabama. I used to have all their albums back when they were vinyl . Shows how Old I am huh ?

  • Used to slow skate to this song at the local skating rink on Friday and Saturday night. Those were the days.

  • @BaFlaBooey I was aDJ who played his song at a roller skating rink probly not the same town though

  • @clintorium ... it was in Sterling, Va

  • @BaFlaBooey I remember doing that too!!! Yes those where the days!!

  • Not much on country music, but this is still a classic!Love it!!

  • that guy is cool as hell

  • Pretty ironic the guest here is by far more popular than the host of the show-at least had more staying power.

  • Well, not necessarily...Barbara Mandrell still has a good-sized following.

Her being in an automobile accident hurt her career more than any perceived slide in content....they're(Mandrell and Alabama) both "retired" now.

  • my grandfather had tractor with A/C with an 8 track in it. I was 7 when this came out and that's ole skool country too me. thanks for posting.

  • the only thing im guilty of/great song though aov

  • didn't know the guys had covered bananarama!

  • Man why is alabama so badass

  • Awesome band...awesome song, but, yeah, they totally lipsynched this performance!!! Still awesome tho!!!

  • No chit chirlock

  • Too bad they lip sinc this

  • I was 7 years old when this aired. I forgot all about it.... I'm nearly in tears as old memories return. GREAT SONG!!

  • OMG....

    "Throw away the key"

"Guilty, of Love in the first degree"

"Guilty as a boy can be"

Pete Waterman has been plagurising AGAIN!

  • great band and a great song ....

  • GOOD SONG

  • Do they kick you out of the band if you shave your beard?

  • Mark (their drummer) has never sported as much as a chinwarmer, much less a full beard.....so I'd guess NO.

  • I remember watching this in '81. I already had their album but this was the first time I ever saw them perform live. I still get goose bumps watching it. They are the greatest group ever. They blazed the trail for country music artists today. Every artist should be thanking Alabama for the way they entertained, they changed the face of country music and made it what it is today.

  • omg my mom rembers this she watched their show and she rembers this when it happned in 1981

  • i 100% agree

  • good song

  • #1 SonG

  • Agree. My first thought when I heard it start was this is way to close to the original to be live. Hate that as well. Still a great song.

  • People do not realize what it takes to put everything together for a live performance, especially is you have a lot of bands perform in one setting.

Like the Award shows, do you think that they perform all LIVE? No!

Maybe the vocals Live, but not the instruments. And sometimes, they do not sing live.

Barbra Mandrell is HOT, Not a whore. IMO

  • i love this song!!

  • My favorite Alabama song. Brings back good memories from high school. Thank you for posting this great song and video clip.

  • fuck garth. don't even say his name when alabama is singing.

  • i hate barf brooks ! i dont know why everybody acted like he was some kind of God. older country rules !!!

  • i love this song

  • When I first heard the first couple of songs they released, I said these guys are the Beatles of country music. and the last I knew they are the most sccessful country band in history. Say what you like -they smile all the way to the bank. There is no electoral vote or opinin the whole world decides if they becomes famous.Historicly every artist or musician is influenced by someone else -tell me who wasn't?

  • ...what the hell?

  • WTF? You're in the wrong place nasty ass.

  • Garth Brooks too. He was the lead country singer of the past twenty years or so.

  • This band pretty much defines the '80s. Them and all the Van Halen ripoff bands. Sort of like Alanis Morrisette or Kurt Cobain define the '90s.

  • Alabama is almost like Southern Rock. They owe a LOT to bands like Blackfoot and Skynyrd and the Allmans. Alabama takes the sounds of those groups and trims it down and softens it up and adds the vocal harmonies. It's pretty sophisticated, if you think about it. No wonder they dominated the '80s.

  • My boyfriend dedicated this song to me tonight. I love him!

  • so what town was he at.when you saw him at the waffle house???

  • Im a deputy in our town and randy owens was at our waffle house one night

  • so what town was this?? my sister lives not far from him, looking forward in hearing from you..

  • why did they lip sync they are much better then that

  • Best country band ever!!

  • i love the fact that they dont do the obives gutier solo in the break witch makes it diffrent than all the other groups of the 80s

  • i really think that alabama is the best country group i ever heard i love the way they stay in tune
