The album shown here with this cut on it is a rare album. There were two different ones made. The original had Waylon on it, the second did not. There were only about 200 copies made of the original and I have one of them.... The entire album is outstanding, good music. The CD version is not an exact copy of the original tracks. geyerguy
I got this on a 45 single in Singapore about 40 years ago when I was just discovering country music. On the back was "Deep Purple Blues," another great song. I couldn't make out what he said at the start of the guitar break. Much later I found it was: "Ah...Billy Byrd now...!" A great performer.
What a duo here. Two of the most unique artists ever. I like the way they do t his old song of Ernest's. Ernest's guitar player (Billy Byrd?) - right at the first of the song - sure does have the signature sound down that I have remembered for so long on E.T.'s recordings. Thank you for posting this. - Paula
Me too!!! This is a classic!! Emmons raised the bar on this too. Not knocking the old time steel players but Buddy Emmons and Jimmy Day began a brand new era.
I saw George in Calgary in about 1985 or 86 He was about 40 minutes lates for the show. It was priceless. John Anderson was the opener and he ended up coming back out and singing about 6 songs with Georges band until he showed up. When George finally arrived he walked onto the stage and when the aplause died down he said what was everyone worried about, it's not like I've ever been a no show. It was a great show

This is one of my favorite E.T. songs. Roger Miller wrote a gem here. Buddy Emmons played his heart out on this one.
