@Paulstanley38 yes actually, good ears. Break Out was written by Carr and Frehley before Carr's death. Carr Jam was a the studio solo to Break Out before the song was finished
This performance is from Electric Lady studios in New York. Im Impressed by this. Scarlet sounds great. Thats studio A, The room I recorded in with Mike Starr and Ray Gillen with my band Sun Red Sun in 1993.
sounds like a descent garage band...wonder if Ace can set up a lemonade stand in his front yard, invite grandma and the local neighbors over. And have a big jam session.--Wooohoo...
@Wayneman117 Sounding like a garage band can be a good thing. That's where some of the best stuff comes from. It sounds better than a lot of the crap coming out these days.
@scourge34 Hey ignore this guy, he's only pissed off at the world because Ace's lemonade stand would make more money then his entire lifes work.YA ! thats you I'm talking about waynegirl117.
Besides Peter Criss, Anton Fig would be the only other Ace would work with. He shined in Ace's 1st solo album, KISS' Dynasty and Unmasked, and Ace's recent solo album, Anomaly.
Scarlett does NOT destroy Ace on this one. They play completely different styles and I think they complement each other. Playing guitar is not all about speed. Youngsters think it is. Look at guys like Jimmy Page and Joe Perry. They can play fast if they want to but they usually play more tastefully.
@KevReborn not to ruin anything with the respect you have for ace but back in the day ace would go and dress up as jews and crap and one night he came to gene room hammered drunkdressed up and hitler and was saying i am hitler i am hitler........then one night he did a shooting and shot hisself had to go to the hospital and gene asked him why and he responded well if the jews would learn how to make a machine gun this wouldnt have happened..... so he really had no respect for kiss and gene/paul
@guitarman8759 Good morning bro, I can't comment on Ace's charachter as a human, but it is his talent that I respected in my comment. I have read Gene's books and afew others by people who were close to Ace in the past so I understand and agree with what you are saying to me. I need to be more specific with my comments. Take care and God bless you.
This is the Comets at their best. High energy. Wish Scarlett had been a part of the first 2 studio albums. Probably would have changed the outcome. Not to deny Howarth his talents but he softened the edge somewhat. Also wish Anton could have been the permanent drummer. His playing is phenomenal. Eric Carr (Breakout's co-writer) would be proud to see how well this thing has held up. It STILL rocks and is one of the best tracks on the Comets' first disc.
yes, that is Richie.Tod was the biggest mistake that Ace made with Frehley's Comet, the dude was way to wimpy in his singing and playing. This song is MUCH better with Richie.
Bad Ass Video! Anton has been Rockin' with Ace since the first solo LP in 1978 He's Lettermans Drummer. I disagree with the dude before me, this singer has bigger balls than Tod. I THINK it might be Richie Scarlett. Can anyone confirm that? Oh yah, ACE RULES!
That is the guitar part from Carr Jam 81. Ace Frehely wrote the original guitar part and has the writing credit and released it as Breakout on his first solo album. Carr Jam 81 has Bruce Kulick overdubbed guitar parts. Ace had to have written the guitar part or as we all know Gene Simmons would have sued the pants off of him for stealing KISS music.
@dp153f Ace & Eric both have writing credits for this tune....well know this....BUT what I don't understand is, IF they co-wrote it, why wasn't Ace's name in the credits on "Carr Jam"
@dp153f Im sure we can all agree that Gene is checp, but this wouldnt have been the first time they shared music with Ace, even though there were some tension between Ace and Kiss Paul allowed Ace to put one of his songs (hide your heart) on Ace's Album Trouble walkin
@LestrangeTV yup same riff.ace and eric recorded carr jam years before breakout, then after eric died bruce added lead guitar on the track and they put it on revenge.
@n2112bytor2112p --Correct. Ritchie Scarlet was a on again, off again member of Ace's band. Ritchie sang both songs. Good ear my friend. Ritchie was in the band in the beginning. He left when Ace had problems getting a record contract. He had to move on and make money somewhere else. He remained a good friend to Ace and returned to his band several times during the 1990's.
I thought this had an intro where Anton said something about the song?
