  • More badass than any "gangster" could ever be :)

  • tripple j in aussie land does i wont forget these guys...

  • The best.

  • this was my tune on the jukebox in my local. . . . . . . used to get some pretty strange looks off people!!!

  • Another great song. I would love to see how many "bands" can last and inspire as much as the Specials did.

  • A wonderful song, all these years later.

  • All you people talking shite about Coventry should learn a thing or two about Coventry, first.

You're referring to this video, which if you were anyone with half a brain would know that it was filmed in London, not Coventry. So you sir, can fuck right off.

Yeah Coventry has it's downsides, but that's caused by this pathetic city council that we have. If we had a council that wasn't full of pen-pushing snobs, we'd be twice the city that most cities are today.

  • @Woody1207 I'm sure your right about being filmed in London. I don't recognise any of it of the scenes.

Isn't that Battersea power station at the last few seconds?

  • @Woody1207 goodness Woody - that's passionate - so do you follow the Bees?? I loved it there.. although I was quite small..

  • can somebody tell me what kind of car there driving in the video

  • @carloveridc It's a Vaxhaul Cresta

  • werer was this Shot?

  • @JammyDodgerrrrrr Coventry...Hitler had the right Idea on flattening it.

  • @UrMumLovesElectro harsh lol

  • @UrMumLovesElectro - it was the flattening of Coventry that made it a concrete jungle. Before WW2 Coventry was one of the most beautiful medieval cities in Europe so flattening it was actually a huge loss to England's cultural landscape. Also as Woody has already noted, it is not Coventry in the video but the City of London

  • Has anyone ever seen Terry Hall and Frankie Howerd in the same room? No.. thought not lol

  • 'somewhere in england that we'll call coventry' - 20 years later it really hasnt changed that much

  • this shit some nice ass jam :D i love this kinda tunes...

  • i heard this in snatch for the first time awesome song

  • their songs are so inspirational! :D

thumps up if you agree! :)

  • I really like the melancholy quality of this song juxtaposed with a stereotypically upbeat genre- It really works.

  • @riamu09 your ez ex p

  • would all the cretins who think its funny to say all the dislikes are justin bieber fans , just stop it now

  • Timeless...I was 11 when this came out, the 1st record I ever bought. The early 80s were a great time for british music. I think they must rival the 60s for creativity....in my opinion. Happy memories. Thanks for posting.

  • MASSIVE MASSIVE COOL. I LOVE THIS SONG, AND THE BAND

  • this song is iconic!

  • this song is more relevant now than ever

  • I thought I heard this song somewhere... I heard it on Absolute radio a few times but never knew the name :O

  • I want that car

  • shit

  • class song

  • Remember indescimate man birth leads to the birth of emanicaption from birth. as in a new life. so the forms the old dead way gave birth too must die but not at the hands of the new way because that would be to admit their supperiouruty.

  • 18 years old, this tune was made a fair few years before i was born and it still is a tuneee

  • download this song of itunes this week.. i joined a facebook page to get this song to number one... from the 25th sept 2010... hopefully next week this CLASSIC song will make a return to the charts.. long live SKA

  • I find it sad how skinhead is so often associated with racism nowadays. I dont blame the people that think this however, as newspapers are a lot to blame in this. They see some skinheads being recruited into the right wing movements of the 70's and they run with it. Other racist movements adopted the skinhead look simply for the 'hard-man' aspect of it.

  • @imthesean True skinhead music and culture is inspired by reggae and other 'black' music of the time. When you listen to this music there is no hatred. I could go on to say more, but the point i am trying to make is there is a colossal difference between skinheads, and racists that dress like skinheads.

  • @imthesean Life isn’t black and white, and only the truly ignorant fail to see the countless shades of grey inbetween.

    (George Marshall-Skinhead Nation)

  • reminds me of Fr.Ted

  • @ballickmoyler i fuckin love that episode :D

  • @ballickmoyler

And now, lease rise for the Irish National Anthem.

  • @ballickmoyler

And now, please rise for the Irish National Anthem.

  • @ballickmoyler lol that episode

  • @ballickmoyler "and can you all please stand for the national anthem". :D

  • how could you not like this tune

  • Whatever happened to Ska man, people ask me,"what kind of music do you listen to?" "Ska"-- "What the hell is that???" -____-

  • Could definately get high listening to this beat!!!

  • 1 of the best bands ever

  • It's funny how time plays tricks with your memory...

I could have sworn the car in this video was a ford zodiac/consul/zephyr but it's actually a Vauxhall PA cresta when I look here...

    Great track!

  • Nothing like ska thats for sure especially The Specials....check out these guys THE DUALERS (yep at our channel) moving from busking to major performances with connections with the likes of the Specials =)

    The Team

    Peek-a-boo Productions

  • what is with the crippled throw? (middle guy, black, pink shirt) 3:37

  • @peeweecx

Looks more like a lob than a throw

  • what kind of car is that?

  • @georgewburton Its a Vauxhall PA Cresta or Velox, a beautiful but very rare car due to the fact that if you left one out in the rain overnight you'd come back in the morning to a pile of rust...........

  • i like this.. i really like this... 1st time hearing it, the track is sick the trumpets crazy, and at the end.. how they fade of the vocals...

  • YEP, major ska'in!

  • Seriously... ads on nearly every somewhat viewed video on youtube! Man I hate google...

  • My Dad loved this song..whether for the melody or the message I'm not sure, but I loved it as well, at the time for both. Well, the towns I've seen in Scotland haven't recovered from the last time Maggies mad men were in, but you know what, they've no chance of recovering now with Demented David in power now!

  • TO MUCH FIGHTING ON THE DANCE FLOOR!!! :)

  • @CriptChronic *Too

  • Download Ghost Town from Midnight sat 25th september to get it back to No.1, over 8000 already on facebook page

  • 86 people dont remember the good old days before the ghost town

  • Thanks to th e socialist zombies and capitalist vultures we now have another set of ghost towns.

  • I wish England would fuck up more, just so we can have some briliant bands like this....

  • love this song.

That last hit on the snare at the very end of the song is so so oh so good.

Wow What a cool groove. Drum and Bass beautiful. LOCKED IN !!

  • this song sounds good until the white boy comes in. just ruins the beat

  • The guys in the car remind me of twilight vampires.

  • There's advertizing on this vid now? BOOOOOOOOoooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • T blijft lekker :)

  • shits yea man, original sound rock da world!!

  • I'm only 15, but MAJOR love to the specials/madness/the jam!! I'm not saying music was better back in this time, but itsdefinitely as good! different :) this toooooooooooown!

  • Wicked.

  • music like this...cannot be replicated; it was the spirit and hard times that created such a unique and special sound that we'll never capture again. it's sad that songs like this won't ever make it to radio again with so much superficial eye candy floating around to block out the good stuff...suppose it works out though, I'd rather dig for the good stuff than have it readily available on the radio.

  • @goodbye41

You never know, the tories ARE back in power. They could easily fuck up the country enough to produce music like this again ;)

  • @goodbye41 I AGREE.......I'M WAITING IN VAIN FOR THE NEXT NIRVANA ALSO

  • @goodbye41 shup you edda

  • @goodbye41 and coming now

  • Classic. This song was a great reflection of Margret Thatchers UK. I remember the huge movement to break the unions. I remember queing for bread on days when we were allowed to buy it. I remember the nation slowed to the expectations of the Londons Business disrict. The youth and mix of music cultures were the only thing giving energy, giving hope.

  • relevant tehn, relevant now. nothing changes it seems.

  • I MIGHT HAVE ONE RECORD FATHER....OUT IN THE CAR!

  • Love this.

  • 85 Justin bieber fans.

  • @declan215 fuck off you joey, nobody wants to hear that septic cunt's name.

  • I was a 14 year old skinhead when this came out great memories.

  • yer all idiots this was not skinhead music this was considered ska with bands like bad manners and madness skin heads and ska 2 completely diffrent things

  • Gr8 Song...Alotta Stuff Back Then Was Political....We Were Just Young And Loved The Beats.....Simple Music Made Great...If You Wernt About Then In Yer Teens TUFF SHIT

  • @ECWhead28 i was convieved on a rock :)

  • @ECWhead28 I almost made a very rude joke there

  • I am still dumbfound as to how this made it into the charts.

  • @moledragon maybe because A : its one of the best british political songs ever

B: its uses sounds and instruments not used in the charts at the time

C: people back then probably had more taste ;)

  • @SgtSmicks

to be fair, you seem about 11-14 yourself.

  • @moledragon

really? i'm more perplexed by the overproduced sorry excuses for music that are floating around in the charts nowadays.

  • one of my fav songs

  • For those reading who weren't about in 1979 ... trust me they WERE awesome. Saw them this year and they are still good .... so get a ticket when they next tour as there ain't much difference in them between 1979 and 2010.

  • so so so so far ahead of their time

  • Haha I love the vocal breakdown at 2:42 you'd never hear something like that in anything on the radio these days. No station around here anyways. I say its about time artist take music back from whoever the hell it is in control that thinks they know what people want to listen to. Honestly I dont think anyone really knows, but thats what it takes to be a real musician. You have to take the risk.

  • Never gets old.

  • I went down the KitKat route with my my cup of tea this evening. I believe it was the right choice. But I like to think that I'm man enough to stand corrected if anyone can point out a superior, but perhaps left-field, alternative.

  • Quel morceau...qui résiste au temps ....une merveille !

  • This song/video reminds me of living in Holland in 1981. Such an awesome time for music. The Police, Madness, Pat Benatar, Prince, Bruce, the Specials....to many to list.

  • man this song is so sick, its like heavy and creepy reggae, awesome

  • 82 people need a slap :)

  • @MasterChiefJoss... and a kick in the head. musical heathens!!

  • @golden24680 shaun of the dead :)

  • so.. so good

  • enchanting

  • Excellent tune. one of my best 80's tunes of all time.

  • 1:40 great bridge!! "do u remember the good ol' days before the ghost town?..."

  • @yaronam / in the old days when i first heard that break i thought NO! they ruined a good dark punkish tune but now ive see the meaning / we all dream of the good old days eventually

  • @rowdyroddy4321

How are tastes sometimes change in time...

  • @yaronam / so true / not long ago i found myself enjoying a tune from Billie Holiday a real slow jazz number / that was deep

  • amerifag here. now i know how all you britfags felt in the 80's. im moving to south america. whos with me?

  • To Scotslover86.

They never left, just got older and as the song says, people getting angry.

  • Absolutely classic!!!!! Where did all the Rude Boys and Girls go??

  • This song is so appropriate for our current economy. Please give a thumbs up if you agree!

  • do nothing is a class tune, minds me of xmas bout 8o 81? skins 4eva

  • thumbs up if this remind you of skate 2. and that skate 2 was much better than skate 3.

  • When music was music

  • swiss chalet ad? wtf is this bullshit i want my musiccc

  • cracking song, lazy ass record company execs. I say this because the song is about Coventry where these guys were from, but the video is shot in London. I'll bet the lazy ass record company exec's couldn't be bothered to get off their nicely padded london chairs and get on the M1, either that or their maps all had "'ere be dragons" printed on them just after Watford...

  • thumbs up if shaun of the dead brought you here

  • yo this songs all freaky if your in your house at night all alone XD

  • The nuts

  • I think i have one in the car!!

  • It's a creepy song, but that's why I love it.

  • This wasn't late 70's it was early 80's. I remember it well, it was a song about Margaret Thatcher and her government and what she was doing to the country

  • I think this was number one when Lady Di married the Nutty Prince - 29.07.81

  • We need for bands like these, badly.

  • GREAT STUFF

  • I remember this song from the late 70's. Only played on alternative radio in Adelaide until it became a hit 6 months later and all of a sudden the mainstream radio picks it up. They say change is constant; not so in radio!

  • oi this is the original skin heads music!

  • Comment removed

  • @doctorw2 / no way ! ska - reggae is nothing like oi music / too much skinhead fighti
