I disagree very much with his advice to limit meat. The human bodies main foods should be meats(including the fat) and leafy greens. He was correct about the grass fed part, though.
Biotin???? Biotin is essential for the metabolism of carbohydrates!!!! Do I want to speed up the carbs. metabolism or slow it down????I read in a book a note said" watch your sugar closely if you take biotin". I am confused.
Soy causes thyroid disease. I've known so many people who got sick from consuming soy products in the amounts that is recommended. Soy is a processed food with natural poisons to kill insects. Oprah is the biggest example of the failure of a soy-based diet to help people.
Ugh, this video refers to TYPE 2 DIABETES, not type 1 diabetes. A real doctor would make this distinction. Type 1 diabetics require insulin (injected or through a pump) to survive. There is no other option for treating type 1 diabetes. Without insulin, type 1 diabetics die. Get it right.
Every food has a vibrational level. You need to match the vibrational level with your own. For example fruit is high so you should be very active with eating it. Complex carbs are med-high depending on how it is prepared. The more you cook it the higher. Fats and meat are low. You should be mostly resting when you eat meat and fats. The further you go active the further you must go inactive to recover. Sugar-active---Meat-inactive. YIN-YANG
The enemy is NOT sugar nor carbs. The enemy is having EXCESS blood sugars. If you are not excercising at least lightly every day this is another enemy. Light and stress free workouts 2x per day with sugars only during workout is the answer. When you are resting eat red meat and veggies ONLY. I dropped the fat and gaining muscle. Its the secret knowing HOW to manipulate insulin to your advantage. Red meat and fats take a lot of energy to process hence will suck the blood sugar up.
Sorry Dr. Hyman, but this advice goes against basic biochemistry, and proven ways to in crease insulin sensitivity, eating whole grains, beans, Crabs = sugar load to the blood stream, every fours no less...sigh.....to all who would like to reverse diabetes 1)eliminate all Carbs(grains, potatoes, rice, beans)except vegetables, NO FRUIT. 2) Do resistance training of any kind 3 times per week. 3) Fast for 24 hours once a week. Your insulin will start to work again if you do this...
@buckpelvis You don't have to and should NOT eliminate carbs. It is about knowing WHEN to use carbs and when to reverse blood sugar. I workout 2x per day for 30-45 minutes and eat 2-4 potatoes before the workout and dextrose. The absolute key is when you are active it is OK to use sugars. Pre/Post workout spike your system with highly acidic protein like whey isolate. Immediately after workout banana and whey then STOP. In about an hour only eat very simple red meat and veggies
Olive oil has NOT been proven to reverse diabetes and insulin resistance. It is a high-fat, nutrient-free, processed food that has 120 empty calories per tablespoon.
I take Dr. Hyman as being a truly holistic medical doctor, and he is very well informed. God bless the knowledge he has been given so that he can help those all over who are seemingly in bondage to ill health. Today's society makes for a very difficult health management when everyone is hustling and bustling to get from place to the next, only to compromise their and their loved ones health.
Sorry no way I can give up coffee I am on week 3 of Atkins I was diagnosed with low end Diabetes and decided to change my diet instead of taking medicine. I did not tell my dr I am not taking med. I don't need to check my blood sugar on a daily basis so am not concerned. I am taking in less than 30 gms of carbs a day. I love kale and Spinach but my gut doesn't I have Chronic Pancreatitis. It has been a while since I have been hospitalized thankfully. i got Pancreatitis from an ERCP several yrs
@silvajqs you dont need to give up your coffee and all other things you like, just try to save sugar or very little of it,its advisable to take the medicine, this will not cure your problem, but this will save the damages of other organs, like kidney, heart, liver, and other neurological problem. i hope your are taking antibiotics agains pancreatitis.
1/2 the African American population 1/3 Whites - Predicted to be Diabetic. Leading to Independance on the new NAZIS? - Medicine! - Their solution? - sudden shortfall of Insulin supply... and wide spread death. That's it! that'sa bottom line most people are willing to participate in.. on a day to day basis.
This is a epidemic in america. Along with overweight. What is needed is to tax junk food TAX unhealthy food make it less available for the regular person and the low income familys. they eat it because its cheap and all they can get. Then next thing to do is subsidize healthy eating programs and make it easier and cheaper to get healthy food and whole grains. teach them when they are young. get all the crap out of the schools. only healthy food. thats a start
im pretty sure that if i have a copy of a gene, then its there for a reason, turning off a gene expression with a poison chemical is dangerous. the gene is already under biochemical regulation. if you are having the diabetes you can choose to eat through it or eat less sugar and starch. A no sugar or starch diet will solve diabetic issues completely.
@datzfast i agree with this dude completely except his claim that diabetes is cause from a toxic food environment, No , getting fat and toxin ingestion do not go together. eating toxins reduces weight in every case.
Well.... IMHO, no one should eat soy, one of the 4 major food allergens. Cow dairy, wheat, corn and soy - Elmer's, industrial adhesive, paste and super glue, respectively.
I Agree with everything except for the soy. The Soy that is in the market today is not prepared properly and will end up down regulating the thyroid which decrease your metabolism and then up lowering your body temperature. Just avoid Omega-6 and eat more starch food and lots of coconut oil. Boost your Metabolism, Boost Your Immune System = Boost your Health
it's interesting the human gene was never meant to eat according to this schedule. Imagine a monkey waking up to a breakfast, eating every 4 hours and not eating 2 hours before bed. Remember, there is no alarm clock in nature.
Dear Doctor, thank you for yr advises. I have been a type II diabetic for 12-15 yrs. We eat very healthy using most of the things good for us you mention: eggs and fresh fruit for breakfast, multi grain bread, lots of green veggies, nuts & almonds as snacks. There are many things I cannot eat such as spicy stuffs, OJ, no white bread, tomatoes etc. I take 30 units of Lantus in the am & 8 units of Humolog in PM. Due to arthritis in hips I cannot exercise. Another problem is Gastroparesis- continued
Only half right. The half that says that diabetes is controlled by dramatic changes in diet and lifestyle after that his information is full of holes. Diabetics need to eat low carb. Want proof. Read the book, "diabetes Solution" by Richard Berbstein, M.D. Dr. Bernstein is a type 1 diabetic who has had normal blood sugars and no complications from diabetes. At age 77 he is still practicing medicine in New Your.
Brilliant! Dr. Hyman is as inspiring as he is informative. I hope that one day he can also inform the world about the deleterious effects of peripheral artery disease. After witnessing so many limb amputation victims throughout my community and others, I feel it's time to pull the blindfold off. Often times this disease, like diabetes, can be prevented. In fact, most PAD victims (~58%) have diabetes, or have other modifiable social risk factors.
that's true, we had a research project on diabetes, i think 2 years back 2009, and i remember the number of people who were diabetic was much higher than expected. we had about 2800 people. well it's a big epidemic, as we know diabetes is not hereditary but it is considered as one of the risk factors and another major risk factor is aging which unfortunately we have no control over it.
Thanks for the fantastic video from someone who cant afford health insurance!
I saw a youtube video where the guy said that soy products contain HEXANE (a flammable liguid) because it is used to extract soy protein from soybeans. So actually, eating soy equates to eating flammable liquids, which is a bummer since we all think of soy as a good alternative protein!
Hi Dr.. thank u very much, i liked ur video but in ur last video but i have a question..i am on gluten free diet according to ur other video about gluten disadvantage, now is Rye bread gluten free? if not then what to eat as a Rye for diabetic ppl? thanksss
Hi Dr.. thank u very much, i liked ur video but in ur last video but i have a question..i am on gluten free diet according to ur other video about gluten disadvantage, now is Rye bread gluten free? if not then what to eat as a Rye for diabetic ppl? thanksss
awww that is amazing advice, I am going to start this challenge and tell you how i feel after. this whole diabetes disease has taken over my life. one thing you said though that hit a cord was if we eat go bed straight after eating we will start looking like a sumo wrestler...soooo true, i was wondering where all this weight comes from all of a sudden, then i realise i tend to eat then go to sleep. tut tut thanks alot for this video it will change my life.
Dr Neal Secrist said he has been able to get some people off of insulin and able to reduce insulin in others by up to 40% would you like to reduce your insulin by up to 40% using a natural product that also helps with weight loss and cholesterol?

I am a Type 2 Diabetic, and I am ready to reverse it, I am planning to join the military after when I'm not a Diabetic, it is a hard life and everyone who has Type 2 or Type 1 knows how hard it is to get their life straight, unfortunately it doesn't work for Type 1..I feel horrible though. It only works with Type II...BUT for all you Type 1s out there, THERE is HOPE, medical research shows that BCG shots can reverse Type I Diabetes. It's just sad our regular doctors don't support us..
@HuskySapphire Yea type 2 can be reversed threw taken gluten completely out your diet and calorie restriction for a month or 2. Good supps like alpha lipoic acid magnesium are good. Also the herb Tumeric will help. Biotin and Chromium are very important in that time. No pasta, No bread and those foods and you will deff reverse it. Bio innovations has good supps.
How often do you see a doctor who is genuinely happy like Dr Hyman? He truly believes in what he says, he truly ignore how much he earns for the info he provides, and he has true smile on his face! Love this guy.
@holfordwrong yes i see i have misunderstood. i thought you were saying that he was saying that type 1 was curable. which it isn't. but i thought he was saying that type 2 diabetes can helped by diet and that you disagreed.
i highlighted "reverse diabetes" because i was unaware that you could get type 1 diabetes gradually. now i know, live and learn.
perhaps i shouldn't have been afraid of the character limit and said adult onset diabetes.
@holfordwrong the title says "reverse diabetes" obviously he would be referring to onset diabetes. (mellitus) as for selling the book, he's giving you the information free right here. if you need a book then that's your issue not his.
did you actually have an issue with he said medically?
WONDERFUL video!!!!!!!!!!! Spot on in all of your info, particularly your statement regarding medications and the administering of insulin being the WRONG treatment approach for Type 2 Diabetes. Thanks you for sharing what you know with the mainstream. Every little bit goes a long way toward reversing this deadly trend.
Instead of trying to fix the problem after its too late, why don't we sue these fucking food corporations into the ground so they'll stop doing this to the worlds population in the name of profit.
@cobrachoppergirl No "fucking food corporation" forced me into type 2. I knew burgers, fries, candy bars, soda, and sitting on my ass was bad for me. The fault lies with ME. Unlike many people these days, I accept responsibility for my own actions.
july 9th 2010 was in the ER with symptoms of rest angina. no heart attack or blood cots. however high cholesterol high blood pressure and of course high blood glucose. H1ac was 11.3. put into practice most of what is preached here. as of DEC 15,2010 from 294lbs down to 240lbs. H1ac was 5.4. eat whole foods and exercise. eat less more often and just start walking to shed the pounds. mixed in and going too ramp up strength training. just do it
We are supposed to eat carbs. How was it that not everyone in the 60s got diabetes? We ate MUCH MUCH more white sugar and white flour then! Its POISONING by electrosmog, chemicals, heavy metals etc that causes ibs, lgs, allergies to cereals and milk and whatever...Atart with throwing out ALL additives...that was enough for me, and I got so much diabetes that my feet are damaged. Red raw rice is fantastic for you.
Organic food? thats expensive man who's gona pay for all this? i was stressed now im even more stressed ever since i found out i had prediabetes. I eat nothing but ONE meal a day and i lost 32 pounds. Got stomach cramps My stomach is more sensitive then ever. if i eat more then 2 peices of cheese i get direah. I am drepssed cause im afraid of eating to much bread cause i think ima get to much damn bread or suger. I eat ONE candy a week im afraid of going into a coma
bread and pasta..yea that's just the advice we need in order to keep our blood sugar levels under control. I also suggest Sodas, icecream, and coffee with at least 4 table spoons of unrefined sugar. If you are still alive after this, talk with Dr Hyman, he will post the story on Youtube.
@commonsense2008 Hehe, funny I was thinking the same thing. It is just the same blather over and ever and over. And don't forget, avoid that evil MEAT AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE.
Obesity Epidemic!! U r right On This!! My friend Zoe Harcombe's New Book Is Out In A Few Weeks and its called: The Obesity Epidemic!! Get Hold Of it and understand that who's got diabates Should not Eat Carbs At All!! Carbs r Not Essential MicroNutrients While Fat and Protein R!!
Rye BREAD, and PASTA, maybe you should then tell peopel to put butter on this unless you want their bloodsugar going crazy from eating those refined carbs?
But I have been eating whole wheat pastas exclusively and whole wheat bread (occasionally rye) for the most part for over twenty years now. Is this bad??
Wow! I've been eating rye bread for decades, and it's my favorite bread. I've never seen or even heard of rye pasta, but it is definitely something I plan to seek out, now that I know about it. I constantly crave and eat fresh spinach, garbonzo beans, nuts, etc...and I can't seem to get enough water no matter how much I drink. I've been wondering for some time if my body was trying to tell me something. In any case, I have learned to listen carefully to it, and to follow its lead.
If rye was a magic weapon against diabetis, there would be very little diabetis in Germany, because virtually everybody eats at least some rye in their bread pretty much every day.
Soybeans are not good because they suppress the thyroid and lower nutrient absorption. Some soy in the form of miso and maybe tofu is ok in moderation. Nuts and seeds should also be eaten in small quantity. I've heard from several people who got problems with their teeth from demineralization due to overconsumption of nuts because of the anti-nutrients in them.
@filhodovento20 There are different schools of thought on this. Three arguments against soy: 1. It suppresses the thyroid. Many many people nowadays have low thyroid, the last thing they want is another thyroid suppressant in their diet. 2. It has estrogen-like compounds that disturb the balance of hormones in the body. People nowadays are too high in estrogen anyhow, you don't want to exarcerbate that problem. 3. It de-mineralizes the body because it has very high levels of anti-nutrients.
I don't really eat soy, I just take isoflavone supplements. The estrogenic properties of soy have no effect on male hormones or fertility. There has been no evidence..
@filhodovento20 Demineralization of teeth and bones isn't something you really want. Then, why eat soy at all? Like I said, a little fermented soy is ok if you enjoy it. But certainly not as a staple. And certainly not as a replacement for meat. If you eat enough food, a protein-rich source of starches such as potatoes or buckwheat etc., you can easily meet the protein requirement of 1g/kg of bodyweight with a little meat / fish / eggs / dairy (dairy if you tolerate it well.)
He preaches the truth! About time a REAL Dr. steps up and tells the truth. Its not pills! Its food! Food is the cure! The message needs to be spread and the poisonous processed foods need to be banned from the markets!
WHat he doesn't say is what the right balance is of Macronutrients. We should be eating 60% Fat, 18% Carbohydrates and 22% Protein.
Dr. Hyman offers a lot of contradictory information here. Number 1 on his basic Guidelnes should be EAT LOW CARBS, HIGH FAT. Although Oxidative Stress is the main cause of disease it has nothing to do with Diabetes. What does? Glucose and Fructose.
@canaan1967 Lol, I think you are oversimplifying the situation. Fruit does not cause diabetes and there never will be a link to fruit with diabetes. Your macronutrient basis is not scientifically proven and you should not state it as fact.
@canaan1967 Complete nonsense. The populations most well-known for their longevity eat high-carb. There have been healthy populations with different kinds of macronutrient ratios. Most people have eaten high-carb most of the time in history. Glucose and fructose cause diabetes? Then how come people can cure their type II diabetes by eating high-carb? I've fixed my hypoglycemia with loads of bananas. Low carb eased the symptoms but made me less and less capable of handling blood sugar spikes.
@hans89 When you were doing low carb was it high fat? The reason I ask is because persons with insulin resistance usually have higher than normal conversion of protein to carbs, this can cause unstable blood sugar. The solution...when doing low carb, limit protein and eat high fat.
@tickyul Yes, I ate tons of fat. After the low-carb honey moon everything went downhill. Instead of avoiding the problem by going low carb, I finally fixed the problem by going high carb. Now I can eat so many foods that caused me trouble before. On low carb, I could tolerate less and less foods.
@hans89 Did you limit protein??? The reason I ask is people with type 2 diabetes have excessive conversion of protein into glucose, this weakens the benefits of a low carb diet? Also, lots of protein is a lot for the body to process, if kidneys are weak you may end up feeling ill because of the byproducts of protein processing (Bun, creatinin, uric acid). Glad your current diet is working, be flexible and maybe try a truly Ketogenic (low protein, lwo carbs) diet some time.
@tickyul I ate like 500g of meat and no other protein source worth mentioning. I tried this cooked, then raw. Cooked was disgusting with all the fat and nothing to soak it up with really, raw was a bit more tolerable but in the end all went downhill. Why would I try a ketogenic diet? I feel much more powerful and energetic like this. It seems like people perform best on high carb. Are there any top athletes who eat low carb? High carb is also a lot cheaper and more sustainable.
@hans89 I am glad you do great on your diet. The problem with a ketogenic diet is it takes quite a while for your body to fully adapt to using ketones, most people quit during this time. You can eat a lot of things besides meats on the keto diet, nuts, avacodos, coconut, dairy to name a few. LoL, I guess if you do not like greasy meat if can be kinda tough, I love fatty meat. Glucose is a great fuel, some people have a disordered carb metabolism so they have too many problems eating a lot.
@tickyul The point is that I had a "disordered carb metaboilsm", and I had it big time, and I fixed it by eating lots of carbs in the form of whole foods (potatoes, white long-grain rice, sweet potatoes, yam, cassava.) I know I am not the only one who has accomplished that. If you eat keto or any other restricted diet where you can't make exceptions, it makes life hard. Social occasions, travel... it just sucks.
@hans89 Well, for me eating low carb is simple and enjoyable. I think that there is a lot of misunderstanding about eating a low carb diet. I eat avacodos, nuts, olives, dairy, low carb vegetables...all in addition to natural animal fats and protein. Also, the most restrictive eating on low carb happens in the "induction" phase, you start upping carbs after this phase is done. Specifically, how did eating a lot of low fat carbs correct your disordered carb metabolism, be specific.
@tickyul So how many grams of carbs do you eat a day? To be specific, I ate 4,000 kcal of whole foods a day for about two months, out of that like 70-80% of carbs. From getting sleeping after eating half a banana this overeating made me able to tolerate, not sure how many exactly, but I guess about 400g of carbs a day now. If you are interested in learning more, you can find the overeating strategy outlined on Matt Stone's blog 180 Degree Health.
@hans89 Wow, sound like you are doing good on the diet, congrats. I used to get the same thing when I was dong a low fat/high carb diet.....sleepy after eating carbs. I think man can adapt to many different diets and be healthy, it comes down to preference much of the time. I could not ever see myself eating as many carbs as you do, when I do a Keto diet I usually eat under 10 grams of carb a day. I have a nerve disease, keto diet helps a lot with the pain.
@tickyul That's great if your diet is helping you. I mean now I'm not sleepy anymore after eating, except for lunch, but that was the same on low carb etc. Some days ago I ate lots of sweets after lunch and then just skipped dinner. Still not feeling tired / hypoglycemic after that, but I think sugar isn't good for my digestion (fructose malabsorption?)
Matt Stone suggests that low carb can harm the metabolism long term, that's why I'm skeptical about it now.
@hans89 I think some the low energy after eating....well at least for me, comes when my body is naturally low in energy. I mean, I am not a morning person, my energy levels are lowest up until about 11am. If I am to eat a big breakfast that a lot of the EXPERTS recommend my energy levels would GO DOWN for quite a while longer. I do great with a smaller breakfast and then 2 additional larger meals. I personally think that man is an adaptovore, can make due on many different diets and be healthy.
There you have it. Diabetes is largely a product of diet. Fresh vegetables, whole foods, fruits, and everything else that promotes good health too expensive for the average shopper. Let's face it, the things that make us sick are cheap and readily available.
@robindooreman type 1 is caused by damage to the pancreas and is not currently curable. Type 2 used to be call "age onset diabetes" as it tended to only occur in poeple >40, 50 or so. However it is not common in children in the US. This is patently reversible using diet, no meds required just do like the good doctor Hyman said.
To gingerpennyk: not educated enough. It's easy to guess here because you can't spell Chemo. If you want to weigh more, raw milk that is grass fed should fatten you up safely. Cinnamon is helpful. The cure for cancer is now said to be baking soda, it's alkaline and seems to kill off the embedded microscopic parasites we call cancer. Also, chemicals in the system, stuff that happened to you that got you in this illness have to be detoxed. Usually raw green juice and cucumber 2B alkaline
I'm going to freak on this rye thing. What exactly is going on? I want to see this chemistry under a microscope and proven okay? The way you talk is making me think I should run out and get some rye....If I went out to get some rye bread I would have to put butter on it and get fat and it feeds my candida parasites. I can't digest all that and get a white tongue. There is no enzymes in rye bread, so what's the magic chemical? How about rye sprouts???
I weight 108 pounds- I'm 5feet 1 inch tall, I have Diabetes, Never smoke never drank alcohol live a very healthy lifestyle, I love fruits and vegetables, If I could loose 10 pounds my blood sugar will improve, but I don't want to weight 98 pounds, I'm not fat ...so why do I have this horrible desease?...and I had breast cancer 5 years ago, I had Mastectomy I went into 8 rounds of Kimo in 2005. My God what wrong with this world today?
I sent you a comment on the site. Baking soda is used by that Italian cancer cure doctor. Dr. Simone. He injects it. I drink Aloe Vera Juice by the gallon when I feel like I got sick since I couldn't resist some Diet Dr. Pepper, then that made me eat too much. If you are loaded with hydrogenated fats, I heard they take months and years to come out or even never. Clog in the pancreas causes Diabetes and they won't say what the clog is made out of yet. Parasites or junk food..I wish I knew....
All I hear is eat, eat, eat..My information on reversing, and preventing diabetes is to lose weight. That is the single most important factor in preventing diabetes, and you can prevent your risk of developing type 2 diabetes by 75% by reaching, and mainting your ideal weight.
Yep, I defintely have metabolic syndrome, Let myself go a bit. I Stopped all junk and am exercising, scale does not want to budge. Even 5 years ago, if I would have done the same thing, pounds would have dropped quickly. Thick abdominal fat, high BP, high LDL, low HDL, prediabetic fasting glucose levels if I start eating too many carbs, just to name a few of the symptoms I have. No ones fault but my own. Carbs are very problematic for me, eat too many and I get constant painful hunger. Cheers!
Fruit is iffy because it is a sugar. It is winter time now and I see nature not offering me any fruit. I think it maybe a seasonal food, unless I was living in the tropics. I also think that nuts and seeds (full of omega 6 and rancid fat if not shelled, fungus, carcinogenic molds) should not be eaten often. I question beans because of the lectins. I think we should be eating grass fed animals and mainly leafy green vegetables, inc. kale, brocolli, sprouts, lettuce, cucumber, celery.
I have really thought about our diet. It should change by the season. In the winter we clearly require more fat to keep us warm (animals get fatter). I worry about fish oil supplements or any supplements, when nature provides it all! We should not be pushed into supplements when nature provides so much. We can learn what nature offers by wild food guide books. Sweet chestnuts are a nice food in October, by December I still see kale, other green leaves, lettuce growing on the allotment.
Looking outside may give you an idea of what to eat. Where you live, conditions are vital, and not one diet is right for everyone. Genes, home habitat, stress levels, lifestyle factors, gender play a part. Were we suppost to eat everything? The nuts and seeds were not for the birds? they were for us? they seem so addictive, I need a nut cracker for I was not equiped with the teeth to break thru the shell, why?
I think saturated fats are harmful in excess. We do not get fat animals in nature for 2/3 of the year, but we do in the winter for about 4 months but it is loaded with omega 3. We can get our omega 3 from green leaves, romaine lettuce (ALA form) and we can be confident we will convert like all the other animals do! The fish convert algae containing ALA to DHA & EPA, as do grass fed animals. Grass contains ALA which cow, sheep converts to EPA & DHA. A diet containing everything may not be good
Saturated fats, come as long, medium and short chain fatty acids, palmitic acid and myrisitc acid found in lamb, beef and cocoa butter is a long chain and has been linked to insulin resistance (in excess!) but coconut oil contains only myrisitc acid, but mainly medium chain fats, and is similar to breast milk fats, Breast milk contains 6% protein, 56% fats, of which is 50% saturated fat! so nature considers it vital for infant, probably for brain, not just fuel. Protein produces toxic wastes.
Nature doesn't offer fruit all year round, neither does nature offer super high sugary hybridised, seedless fruit. To me nature knows best, and is nearest to God. there is a perfection is we obey the natural flow, and not mess around and interfere. After all I have read & studied I am no expert or better than anyone, but what helped me was a lower carb, high protein, high omega 3 diet, low animal sat fat. Animals are bred to be very obese, and U R what U eat! Free range is best for me & animal
Simplistically you don't need much insulin if you don't overload your blood supply with sugar or sugar from carbs. The rye he talks about would probably release sugar slowly. There may well be a way to get type 1s to start producing insulin. Rather than say there is no cure, how about saying that we have not discovered it. Each person has to make their own discovery. However it helps if they hear from someone who has discovered a cure.
Dr. Richard Bernstein did a good job and not curing but managing his type one diabetes so he needed a small amount of insulin. He went from having his life threatened, because type 1 is VERY SERIOUS, as you will know, and a very strict low carb, worked. I agree with cutting on saturated fat, raising omega 3, monunaturated fats, cutting out fruit, eating non-starchy veg helps me control my appetite. Do you reccomend any books/info?
I 100 % agree . Medicine is great, but prescription pills have a lot of side effects, than you end up taking pill after pill . To cure diseases we have to know what the cause is first. All the prescription drugs does just managed the disease it doesen't cure. But is we cure all the dieases than people won't make money. The drug companies will be out of business. If "we" stop being greedy and being concerned with money, we can cure the diseases.
I bought a chemical which repared my cars blown head gasket. The chemist who sold me the stuff kept stressing that I must fix the cause of blow which was probably over heating. So change the thermostat and flush the radiator. Then applied the chemical treatment. 2nd time lucky once I fixed the cause and then the symptom.
doctor, i have diabetes II, and i suffered about 8 years ago from hyperthyroid, i´m now in hypothyroid after raid and take levotyroxine, i also have a myoma and if i eat soy protein the hemorrages get terrible, i control the myoma on diet, but how can i substitute the soy protein if i´m diabetic and i can not eat white breads_, what other choices i have in order to be healthy and keep my blood sugars low?, fenegreek also makes my hemorrages terrible...please answer me
there is a cure and the doctors know it but they are not going to tell you because they want your insurance to keep paying for the insulin and regular check ups and all the other medications.
I dont think everyone is conspiring to keep you sick. I just think a lot of allopathic doctors have been taught/ brainwashed with the wrong information, and they are simply only speaking on what they know, or at least what they "think" they know.
There are a lot of good doctors out there, they are sincere they just dont know they arent helping you,cuz they are compartamentalized. Now a lot though absolutely know they are over medicating and poisoning people but they get incentive from Big pharma.
I agree, it seems doctors treat so many things they don't know what they should be doing for diabetes, in particular, so they do what somebody taught them to do. Then they move on to the next patient who had some other health problem. If more doctors had diabetes, there would be better approaches and ideas coming from doctors of better understanding and experience in the matter. I have type 2 and they gave me insulin. Type 2 means I had insulin already, even too much!
@TrueGreatness73 i dont know what type, but i have read that bitter melon and cinnamon is good for increasing insulin sensitivity. Also, make sure he does not eat carbs alone, he should get some good fats an/or proteins with all his meals, in the right amount ofcourse, too much fat/protein is not good for him either, but make him eat a meal with a fair amount of fat/protein, measure his blodsugar and then try adding a little more at a time to find out what is right for him.
@TrueGreatness73 1. Diet, stay away from potatoes, rice and any other simple carbs. No bread. Instead eat organic veggies and meat (never regular meat, its toxic as hell) Since insulin is experienced by the body cells as toxic, any body ancient toxic will make things worse, no seafood. Detox the body with tricardia, and look into glyconutrients (ambrotose from mannatech, or noni/goji juice) which helps the receptors to respond better. Stay away from drugs or insulin.
@polynesianpuppet That is a ridiculous statement! You wrote they "want your insurance to keep paying for the insulin... and medications" Doctors don't make any money from medications AND there are a lot of new laws and regulations that make it ILLEGAL for doctors to accept bribes from pharmaceutical reps like in the past. Individuals with nefarious motivations including greed at the expense of patients do not (or vary rarely) make it past medschool's screening process.
@polynesianpuppet If this was to be true, then it would be EVIL.... What proof do you have of this... ALso, why then hasn't any major authority stand up to the medical industry to inform about the cure... I think they (medicine industry) would put attention to curing this problem....
Why is dairy bad? What about cottage cheese or fage yogurt for the protein content? I wouldn't mind giving them up but I've always heard such good things that I've been including them in my diet.
I also discovered that managing diabetes is easier when you have family members that support you. Avoid anything that gives your stress and relax a few times a day for at least 10 minutes -- that's my thinking time *lol*
Get lots of fresh air and some sunshine each day. You'd be surprised what oxygen does for the blood cells. I can't exercise due to arthritis but I do take walks each day --that's key to keeping sugar levels at day. Try to stay busy as much as possible.
Sounds all very good. However when you are on a low income most of the foods you mention are beyond your budget. The only way forward is to take medication and eat food that is rubbish. I wish somebody could put together a diet for low income families with diabetes.
Someone should do that, but they have done research and the processed pre packaged foods that are terrible for you are actually more expensive than fresh food. For example, a bag of frozen vegetables at the supermarket is about 1.29 but a bag of doritos is 2.50. What someone with a low income can do is to buy the non prepackaged vegetables like carrots that are not the baby carrots in the seperate packaging. Medication is more expensive than the healthy food that prevents the disease itself.
I'm on a tight budget but manage to buy the organic foods I need. I buy when most is on sale and I also make my own baked goods which is cheaper. I never buy anything such as processed food as it does cost more, not to mention "junk". I also started my own organic veggie garden to save money. I never eat left overs either because the more you cook food the less value to our bodies. I also eat a lot of raw veggies and also an apple a day. My diabetes is almost gone :) It's all common sense :)
People who have the ability should grow some food. It will save money and they will most likely be getting more nutrient rich food. Flax seeds, chia seeds, walnuts have omega 3's. Flax seeds are affordable. You just ground them up in a coffee bean grinder, add some water and take as a supplement or you could put it in smoothies.
Low income don't normally have space 2 grow food, but near every1 has the time & space 2 sprout. At that moment when life bursts on2 this scene, it's most tender & so is more digestible, eaten fresh & so is more nutritious than the organic produce bought in the stores & picked who knows how long B4 that, maybe weeks, or? Besides, caloric restriction is found 2 B health-giving, of course the food taken should B nutrient-dense, like fresh sprouts. Raw vegan shopping confines us 2 a 1/4 of a store
So glad I stumbled upon your video. I was recently diagnosed with Type 2(brought on by issues with an autoimmune disease). I was feeling depressed about it but your upbeat presentation has given me a boost. I already have been doing many of your suggestions (tumeric, whole grains etc.) but will keep working toward my goal of losing weight & reversing diabetes. Many thanks!
I disagree very much with his advice to limit meat. The human bodies main foods should be meats(including the fat) and leafy greens. He was correct about the grass fed part, though.

Your insulin will start to work again if you do this...
buckpelvis 1 month ago
@buckpelvis You don't have to and should NOT eliminate carbs. It is about knowing WHEN to use carbs and when to reverse blood sugar. I workout 2x per day for 30-45 minutes and eat 2-4 potatoes before the workout and dextrose. The absolute key is when you are active it is OK to use sugars. Pre/Post workout spike your system with highly acidic protein like whey isolate. Immediately after workout banana and whey then STOP. In about an hour only eat very simple red meat and veggies

Only half right. The half that says that diabetes is controlled by dramatic changes in diet and lifestyle after that his information is full of holes. Diabetics need to eat low carb. Want proof.

I saw a youtube video where the guy said that soy products contain HEXANE (a flammable liguid) because it is used to extract soy protein from soybeans. So actually, eating soy equates to eating flammable liquids, which is a bummer since we all think of soy as a good alternative protein!

Soybeans are not good because they suppress the thyroid and lower nutrient absorption. Some soy in the form of miso and maybe tofu is ok in moderation. Nuts and seeds should also be eaten in small quantity. I've heard from several people who got problems with their teeth from demineralization due to overconsumption of nuts because of the anti-nutrients in them.
hans89 1 year ago
@hans89
Soy is actually healthy, as long as it's fermented and non genetically modified.
filhodovento20 1 year ago
@filhodovento20 There are different schools of thought on this. Three arguments against soy: 1. It suppresses the thyroid. Many many people nowadays have low thyroid, the last thing they want is another thyroid suppressant in their diet. 2. It has estrogen-like compounds that disturb the balance of hormones in the body. People nowadays are too high in estrogen anyhow, you don't want to exarcerbate that problem. 3. It de-mineralizes the body because it has very high levels of anti-nutrients.
hans89 1 year ago
@hans89
I don't really eat soy, I just take isoflavone supplements. The estrogenic properties of soy have no effect on male hormones or fertility. There has been no evidence..
filhodovento20 1 year ago
@filhodovento20 Of course there are studies linking soy to male infertility. Just google and you'll find them.
hans89 1 year ago
@filhodovento20 Demineralization of teeth and bones isn't something you really want. Then, why eat soy at all? Like I said, a little fermented soy is ok if you enjoy it. But certainly not as a staple. And certainly not as a replacement for meat. If you eat enough food, a protein-rich source of starches such as potatoes or buckwheat etc., you can easily meet the protein requirement of 1g/kg of bodyweight with a little meat / fish / eggs / dairy (dairy if you tolerate it well.)

What does? Glucose and Fructose.
canaan1967 1 year ago
@canaan1967 Lol, I think you are oversimplifying the situation. Fruit does not cause diabetes and there never will be a link to fruit with diabetes. Your macronutrient basis is not scientifically proven and you should not state it as fact.
apocalist420 1 year ago
@canaan1967 Complete nonsense. The populations most well-known for their longevity eat high-carb. There have been healthy populations with different kinds of macronutrient ratios. Most people have eaten high-carb most of the time in history. Glucose and fructose cause diabetes? Then how come people can cure their type II diabetes by eating high-carb? I've fixed my hypoglycemia with loads of bananas. Low carb eased the symptoms but made me less and less capable of handling blood sugar spikes.
hans89 1 year ago
@hans89 When you were doing low carb was it high fat? The reason I ask is because persons with insulin resistance usually have higher than normal conversion of protein to carbs, this can cause unstable blood sugar. The solution...when doing low carb, limit protein and eat high fat.
tickyul 1 year ago
@tickyul Yes, I ate tons of fat. After the low-carb honey moon everything went downhill. Instead of avoiding the problem by going low carb, I finally fixed the problem by going high carb. Now I can eat so many foods that caused me trouble before. On low carb, I could tolerate less and less foods.
hans89 1 year ago
@hans89 Did you limit protein??? The reason I ask is people with type 2 diabetes have excessive conversion of protein into glucose, this weakens the benefits of a low carb diet? Also, lots of protein is a lot for the body to process, if kidneys are weak you may end up feeling ill because of the byproducts of protein processing (Bun, creatinin, uric acid). Glad your current diet is working, be flexible and maybe try a truly Ketogenic (low protein, lwo carbs) diet some time.
tickyul 1 year ago
@tickyul I ate like 500g of meat and no other protein source worth mentioning. I tried this cooked, then raw. Cooked was disgusting with all the fat and nothing to soak it up with really, raw was a bit more tolerable but in the end all went downhill. Why would I try a ketogenic diet? I feel much more powerful and energetic like this. It seems like people perform best on high carb. Are there any top athletes who eat low carb? High carb is also a lot cheaper and more sustainable.
hans89 1 year ago
@hans89 I am glad you do great on your diet. The problem with a ketogenic diet is it takes quite a while for your body to fully adapt to using ketones, most people quit during this time. You can eat a lot of things besides meats on the keto diet, nuts, avacodos, coconut, dairy to name a few. LoL, I guess if you do not like greasy meat if can be kinda tough, I love fatty meat. Glucose is a great fuel, some people have a disordered carb metabolism so they have too many problems eating a lot.
tickyul 1 year ago
@tickyul The point is that I had a "disordered carb metaboilsm", and I had it big time, and I fixed it by eating lots of carbs in the form of whole foods (potatoes, white long-grain rice, sweet potatoes, yam, cassava.) I know I am not the only one who has accomplished that. If you eat keto or any other restricted diet where you can't make exceptions, it makes life hard. Social occasions, travel... it just sucks.
hans89 1 year ago
@hans89 Well, for me eating low carb is simple and enjoyable. I think that there is a lot of misunderstanding about eating a low carb diet. I eat avacodos, nuts, olives, dairy, low carb vegetables...all in addition to natural animal fats and protein. Also, the most restrictive eating on low carb happens in the "induction" phase, you start upping carbs after this phase is done. Specifically, how did eating a lot of low fat carbs correct your disordered carb metabolism, be specific.
tickyul 1 year ago
@tickyul So how many grams of carbs do you eat a day? To be specific, I ate 4,000 kcal of whole foods a day for about two months, out of that like 70-80% of carbs. From getting sleeping after eating half a banana this overeating made me able to tolerate, not sure how many exactly, but I guess about 400g of carbs a day now. If you are interested in learning more, you can find the overeating strategy outlined on Matt Stone's blog 180 Degree Health.
hans89 1 year ago
@hans89 Wow, sound like you are doing good on the diet, congrats. I used to get the same thing when I was dong a low fat/high carb diet.....sleepy after eating carbs. I think man can adapt to many different diets and be healthy, it comes down to preference much of the time. I could not ever see myself eating as many carbs as you do, when I do a Keto diet I usually eat under 10 grams of carb a day. I have a nerve disease, keto diet helps a lot with the pain.
tickyul 1 year ago
@tickyul That's great if your diet is helping you. I mean now I'm not sleepy anymore after eating, except for lunch, but that was the same on low carb etc. Some days ago I ate lots of sweets after lunch and then just skipped dinner. Still not feeling tired / hypoglycemic after that, but I think sugar isn't good for my digestion (fructose malabsorption?)
Matt Stone suggests that low carb can harm the metabolism long term, that's why I'm skeptical about it now.
hans89 1 year ago
@hans89 I think some the low energy after eating....well at least for me, comes when my body is naturally low in energy. I mean, I am not a morning person, my energy levels are lowest up until about 11am. If I am to eat a big breakfast that a lot of the EXPERTS recommend my energy levels would GO DOWN for quite a while longer. I do great with a smaller breakfast and then 2 additional larger meals. I personally think that man is an adaptovore, can make due on many different diets and be healthy.

How about you let the audience know your talking about type 2 diabetes.... not type 1

Catherine8here 2 years ago
I have really thought about our diet. It should change by the season. In the winter we clearly require more fat to keep us warm (animals get fatter). I worry about fish oil supplements or any supplements, when nature provides it all! We should not be pushed into supplements when nature provides so much. We can learn what nature offers by wild food guide books. Sweet chestnuts are a nice food in October, by December I still see kale, other green leaves, lettuce growing on the allotment.
Catherine8here 2 years ago
Looking outside may give you an idea of what to eat. Where you live, conditions are vital, and not one diet is right for everyone. Genes, home habitat, stress levels, lifestyle factors, gender play a part. Were we suppost to eat everything? The nuts and seeds were not for the birds? they were for us? they seem so addictive, I need a nut cracker for I was not equiped with the teeth to break thru the shell, why?
Catherine8here 2 years ago
I think saturated fats are harmful in excess. We do not get fat animals in nature for 2/3 of the year, but we do in the winter for about 4 months but it is loaded with omega 3. We can get our omega 3 from green leaves, romaine lettuce (ALA form) and we can be confident we will convert like all the other animals do! The fish convert algae containing ALA to DHA & EPA, as do grass fed animals. Grass contains ALA which cow, sheep converts to EPA & DHA. A diet containing everything may not be good
Catherine8here 2 years ago
Saturated fats, come as long, medium and short chain fatty acids, palmitic acid and myrisitc acid found in lamb, beef and cocoa butter is a long chain and has been linked to insulin resistance (in excess!) but coconut oil contains only myrisitc acid, but mainly medium chain fats, and is similar to breast milk fats, Breast milk contains 6% protein, 56% fats, of which is 50% saturated fat! so nature considers it vital for infant, probably for brain, not just fuel. Protein produces toxic wastes.
Catherine8here 2 years ago
@Catherine8here
You are wrong. Coconut oil is mainly Lauric acid and Capric acid.

Free range is best for me & animal

selling people the "cure". There is no cure for type1
As for type 2 just cut down on fat and sugar low carb diet = low blood sugars!!!
you have to be stupid to pay for this book
dietcoker11 2 years ago
Assume there is a cure but it's not widely known.
RavenPrecept 2 years ago

Have you tried also organic cinnamon?
And one more thing, are u on any diabetic drugs?
ZionSamurai87 2 years ago

I like rice protein or whey protein. Maybe you could look into those. I can't eat soy either it makes me ill.
Aislan4414 2 years ago
there is a cure and the doctors know it but they are not going to tell you because they want your insurance to keep paying for the insulin and regular check ups and all the other medications.
polynesianpuppet 2 years ago 25
I dont think everyone is conspiring to keep you sick. I just think a lot of allopathic doctors have been taught/ brainwashed with the wrong information, and they are simply only speaking on what they know, or at least what they "think" they know.
There are a lot of good doctors out there, they are sincere they just dont know they arent helping you,cuz they are compartamentalized. Now a lot though absolutely know they are over medicating and poisoning people but they get incentive from Big pharma.
ZionSamurai87 2 years ago 3
I agree, it seems doctors treat so many things they don't know what they should be doing for diabetes, in particular, so they do what somebody taught them to do. Then they move on to the next patient who had some other health problem. If more doctors had diabetes, there would be better approaches and ideas coming from doctors of better understanding and experience in the matter. I have type 2 and they gave me insulin. Type 2 means I had insulin already, even too much!

@polynesianpuppet DO you know a cure?? Just found out my dad has diabetes. This really sucks..
TrueGreatness73 1 year ago
@TrueGreatness73 i dont know what type, but i have read that bitter melon and cinnamon is good for increasing insulin sensitivity. Also, make sure he does not eat carbs alone, he should get some good fats an/or proteins with all his meals, in the right amount ofcourse, too much fat/protein is not good for him either, but make him eat a meal with a fair amount of fat/protein, measure his blodsugar and then try adding a little more at a time to find out what is right for him.

@TrueGreatness73 Your welcome buddy, i hope he will be alright with Gods help.
sandhedomsundhed 1 year ago
@TrueGreatness73 1. Diet, stay away from potatoes, rice and any other simple carbs. No bread. Instead eat organic veggies and meat (never regular meat, its toxic as hell) Since insulin is experienced by the body cells as toxic, any body ancient toxic will make things worse, no seafood. Detox the body with tricardia, and look into glyconutrients (ambrotose from mannatech, or noni/goji juice) which helps the receptors to respond better. Stay away from drugs or insulin.
commonsense2008 1 year ago
@polynesianpuppet That is a ridiculous statement! You wrote they "want your insurance to keep paying for the insulin... and medications" Doctors don't make any money from medications AND there are a lot of new laws and regulations that make it ILLEGAL for doctors to accept bribes from pharmaceutical reps like in the past. Individuals with nefarious motivations including greed at the expense of patients do not (or vary rarely) make it past medschool's screening process.
spidangular 1 year ago

Stay gluten free also.

Sounds all very good. However when you are on a low income most of the foods you mention are beyond your budget. The only way forward is to take medication and eat food that is rubbish. I wish somebody could put together a diet for low income families with diabetes.
knighttrader27 3 years ago
Someone should do that, but they have done research and the processed pre packaged foods that are terrible for you are actually more expensive than fresh food. For example, a bag of frozen vegetables at the supermarket is about 1.29 but a bag of doritos is 2.50. What someone with a low income can do is to buy the non prepackaged vegetables like carrots that are not the baby carrots in the seperate packaging. Medication is more expensive than the healthy food that prevents the disease itself.
Jleigh225 2 years ago 4
I'm on a tight budget but manage to buy the organic foods I need. I buy when most is on sale and I also make my own baked goods which is cheaper. I never buy anything such as processed food as it does cost more, not to mention "junk". I also started my own organic veggie garden to save money. I never eat left overs either because the more you cook food the less value to our bodies. I also eat a lot of raw veggies and also an apple a day. My diabetes is almost gone :) It's all common sense :)
wendykpa 2 years ago 2
People who have the ability should grow some food. It will save money and they will most likely be getting more nutrient rich food. Flax seeds, chia seeds, walnuts have omega 3's. Flax seeds are affordable. You just ground them up in a coffee bean grinder, add some water and take as a supplement or you could put it in smoothies.
angelbe88 2 years ago
Low income don't normally have space 2 grow food, but near every1 has the time & space 2 sprout. At that moment when life bursts on2 this scene, it's most tender & so is more digestible, eaten fresh & so is more nutritious than the organic produce bought in the stores & picked who knows how long B4 that, maybe weeks, or? Besides, caloric restriction is found 2 B health-giving, of course the food taken should B nutrient-dense, like fresh sprouts. Raw vegan shopping confines us 2 a 1/4 of a store

whats the difference between organic meet and regular meet concerning diabetes.
nocorporateamerica 3 years ago
If you're determined to gamble with meat, true organic meat usually has higher ratios of omega 3 fatty acids as opposed to non-organic meat.
"Positive associations were also observed between type 2 diabetes and red meat" -Arch Internal Med. 2004;164:2235.
"Greater dietary heme-iron intake and/or supplemental iron were associated w/ increased risk of Type 2 diabetes" -Diabetologia,47,(2) Feb, 2004
And organic meat may have higher heme-iron.
