This is brilliant! I started with TAA/Australian and the footage of our old SYD terminal (round windows!) and our 734's taxiing in is great - brings back good memories. Rare footage of QF 744 in CDG too!  I was fortunate to operate one of those flights. Thank you!

Awesome clip! Sad as well though. The local aerodrome here in Deconport Tasmania went down hill when east-west and ansett left Australian airlines only went to my city a few times.

We're now stuck with Qantaslinks Dash 8's being the largest aircraft!

Great vid - and so many memories of now defunct airlines - Compass, Eastwest, Ansett, Australian. Great to see the diversity from back then too - United DC10s, Lanka 1011, F28s, Twin Otters, F50s.. Great times.

That said, i do remember how exciting planes were when I was four years old...I would run outside when an F-16 flew over.

I, like most people, outgrew that.

People who drive to the airport to look at planes landing puzzle me. Is it because they are geeks? Do any cool people do that?

basically my friend theres nothing nerdy about it. as a kid i grew up next to an airport and saw these planes flying daily but also as a kid anything that was fast and noisey floated my boat lol so ye as a reply to you its not nerdy as such its just that inner curious child syndrome that cant escape.

Unfortunately no! I wish though! I found these and was surprised the tapes were relatively intact - I had to use a PAL/NTSC converter to change the format to US standard. It's like a window on a different time!
