People who disliked were dumb little kids who were looking for Charley and The Chocolate Factory, then all they see is pure, old school, awesomeness, and their brains can't handle it.
well here"s an other fact did you know when the kids and adults walked in that was the first time seeing the set and there face expressions was the actual expression of first time seeing the set
You can't even see the dislike bar...lol so it doesnt matter..I love this song. I wish I could live in that chocolate factory. I always loved this movie as a kid and wanted to go there
I typically don't do these, but I'm willing to bet those 155 people are Glee fans who heard the Glee version first, looked this up, thought that someone made an independent remake of the Johnny Depp version, and called this song a rip off.
THIS IS THE STUFF I GREW UP ON. I MISS THE INNOCENCE IN THE MEDIA. I'M ONLY 27 YEARS OLD. EVERYTIME I HEAR THIS SONG IT JUST BRINGS ME BACK TO THE MEMORIES OF MY CHILDHOOD.
I've always wondered, is "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" based in England or the United States? I've read the book and it does mention that Charlie finds a DOLLAR and a bar costs a DIME. That's American currency.
@MrWhitman In the version I read he found fifty pence. I think they must have just changed the currency for the American version. It's set in England.
For anyone who did not know this little fact: The cup that Gene bits into at the very end was made of wax, which after this scene, he had to spit out.
i remember when i fist saw this when i was a lil kid... those were good times..... i just wish i did spend my childhood right.... this scene makes me soooo hungry though XD
Today at school, this song was very stuck in my head. And when I saw this movie for the first time in 2005, it made my cry, but now it doesn't anymore.
Whenever i've got the drugfree munchies and want to eat chocolate and enjoy a freakshow at the same time i always watch this clip.. tada da la la la,,,, pure imagination..... hmmm da da da you'll be free , take it from here Wonka!
This movie was my childhood . The simple elegance and fun of it always entertained me , and made me madly love Gene Wilder , and now there isn't a movie he's in i haven't seen.
And also , I think Charlie and the Chocolate factory was a good movie when seen as an independent film and not a remake of this movie , because it really wasn't a remake , just
@heartmulgrew15 It wasn't a remake of this movie it was just a more faithful retelling of the book this movie is based on. But that in no way means this version was in anyway less better than it is.
This Wonka was still very strange, but he always seemed to know what he was doing. Something about his voice and actions let you know that.
Burton's Wonka just seems insane, and personally, I found him unlikable.
This Charlie was very relatable. He was kind-hearted, but certainly wasn't an angel. He made selfish decisions, because that's what a little boy would.
Burton's Charlie would make Jesus Christ jealous of his selflessness.
Feel free to agree or argue. These are just my thoughts.
@FireJigglypuff2310 I think the remake is horrible... They made Charlie... BRITISH. OMFG, that adorable all-American child, turned into some horrible little British piece of shit. The original was about what young American children deserve - freedom, health, family, happiness. It made me so,so proud to be American at the end, when they flew off in that glass elevator, free, having accomplished the dream. Burton, fuck you for betraying this country...
@YellowLickilickyXL Well you're a fucking stupid American pig, you know nothing about Britain and you have no right to insult us like this! Fuck all of you and this crappy original version. Roald Dahl hated this terrible Americanisation and I'm glad he did. British Charlie forever...
@ChocolateHoneycomb You realize you fed the troll right? Or at least I hope he was a troll. Otherwise he's just an idiot. But you're being just as prejudiced as that douche, so yeah...
I know some folks don't like Tim Burton's version, but his version is alot closer to the book than this one. The author himself didn't like this version.
Note, I am not saying this version is bad at all, it give me goosebumps everytime I hear this song. Gotta give Burton some credit for doing something different.
@KongPow1 what the hell? Rold Dahl had the most imagination of anybody. ever. period. have you ever read any of his books? go fucking learn before you make a comment like that. nobody insults dahl.
roald dahl loved the mixture of children and anarchy. This movie didnt quite fit with what was in his head and doesnt marry up with the book very neatly. Its a real shame because it is a magical film in its own right. The Tim Burton remake is god-awful though. Depp's Wonka is a wee bit creepy for my liking. Wilder's Wonka is beautifully quirky and endearing.
Wow this Movie brings back memories and this scene is one of my favorite parts. I'm 29-years-old now and when I saw this scene it had me in tears. They don't make movies like this anymore.
Roald Dahl hated this film because he thought it focused more on Willy Wonka, than Charlie.. Which, I don't know. I think it shows them both very well, either way, this movie is amazing. it's one of those movies you HAVE to see in your lifetime.
@ThePINK2017 If he hated the 1971 film (if he was still alive) I imagine he would absouletely have buring hatred for the 2005 film. I can't stand the 2005 film. It's terrible.
@sabers2th I would think so too. but idk. he also said that another reason why he didn't like this one was because he thought it was too calm for his taste. so the 2005 one might have fit his standards, but i would sure hope not. no way of knowing now lol
