  • Sorry Johnny but you got nothin on this.

  • This is definitely my favorite childhood movie. I mean, just looking at this clip makes you want to subdue yourself into a land of fun, fun FUN!

  • I'm watching this movie right now. Can't beat the original.

  • This song will never get old

  • People who disliked were dumb little kids who were looking for Charley and The Chocolate Factory, then all they see is pure, old school, awesomeness, and their brains can't handle it.

  • @man500100 hey i'm a kid but i was searshing for this song

  • @janis65ff searching

  • @janis65ff I'm talking about kids who weren't raised on these old epic movies.

  • Kansas city loves this song. And Ernest does to

  • candygasm

  • well here"s an other fact did you know when the kids and adults walked in that was the first time seeing the set and there face expressions was the actual expression of first time seeing the set

  • Fun fact: the cup was actually wax and when he bit into it he spat it out after, :D

  • You can see that the chocolate pumpkins are balloons

  • who can dislike this!?!

  • You can't even see the dislike bar...lol so it doesnt matter..I love this song. I wish I could live in that chocolate factory. I always loved this movie as a kid and wanted to go there

  • 155 people wont come with willy wonka... dependng on the way you see that itcan be good...

  • I typically don't do these, but I'm willing to bet those 155 people are Glee fans who heard the Glee version first, looked this up, thought that someone made an independent remake of the Johnny Depp version, and called this song a rip off.

  • @LEGO REALLY, AWW I CAN FEEL THE NOSTALGIA

  • 155 people do not have a pure imagination

  • This song... If I could like it again, there would be no telling how many times I would like it. It brings back such amazing memories of childhood...

  • I remember as a kid always wanting to actually visit a place like this. Too bad that place only exist's in the active imagination of a few people.

  • Love this movie! I remember watching it for the first time in second grade back in '86

  • THIS IS THE STUFF I GREW UP ON. I MISS THE INNOCENCE IN THE MEDIA. I'M ONLY 27 YEARS OLD. EVERYTIME I HEAR THIS SONG IT JUST BRINGS ME BACK TO THE MEMORIES OF MY CHILDHOOD.

  • @Ms1Brownchocolate CAPS LOCK IS THE CRUISE CONTROL FOR COOL

  • Only Willy Wonka can Rhyme "Imagination" with Imagination :)

  • This song brings tears of happiness and joy, I love this song... And the fact Gene Wilder is singing it makes me even more exultant. :3

  • I don't know about anyone else but I used to have a crush on Violet, she may be a bad child but she is cute.

  • A magical masterpiece; Gene Wilder is just fantastic in this movie

  • Another movie I'd like to see made from Dahl's work is "George's Marvelous Medicine."

  • I've always wondered, is "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" based in England or the United States? I've read the book and it does mention that Charlie finds a DOLLAR and a bar costs a DIME. That's American currency.

  • @MrWhitman In the version I read he found fifty pence. I think they must have just changed the currency for the American version. It's set in England.

  • This is the BEST fantasy movie, ever.

  • For anyone who did not know this little fact: The cup that Gene bits into at the very end was made of wax, which after this scene, he had to spit out.

  • This is really fun to play on the guitar.

  • i like it when he eats the cup.

  • 151 bad eggs.

  • I hope I'm not the only one who sings this when I rewatch the movie...

  • pure classic and nostalgia

  • best movie ever

  • NOSTALGIA <3

  • 2:23 that looks sooooo good

  • I get chills when he sings "if you want to view pradise, simply look around and view it"

  • Man this cup look so tasty !

  • eatingg chocolate while watching this..

  • i have an urge to hear coldplay play this

  • Gene Widler is simply a magician in this movie

  • Makes me warm inside. :)

  • At one point in our childhood we asked our parents for our room to be made into the candy room

  • i remember when i fist saw this when i was a lil kid... those were good times..... i just wish i did spend my childhood right.... this scene makes me soooo hungry though XD

  • Wonderful!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • chomp.

  • This movie is creepy but GREAT at the same time! Lol

  • @palmoffun There was only one creepy part. It comes right after this scene when they are in the boat.

  • My face when i realised this movie came out 40 years ago :O

  • Anyone who disliked this video has the saddest life in existance

  • @JackTheHopeful they just might not like the style of the language and characters

  • @Kinglovesyoutodeath im guessing they dont like candy either?

  • @JackTheHopeful hahaha, best comment ever

  • Okay Willy Wonka was def the leader of a cartel

  • Today at school, this song was very stuck in my head. And when I saw this movie for the first time in 2005, it made my cry, but now it doesn't anymore.

  • I'm watching this in 2005.

  • I remember watching this when I was 10. Im 23 right now.

    The movie brought me here.

  • 2012? I'm going to be watching this every year for the rest of my life. It takes me back to my childhood and I love it.

  • I love jhonny depp but this will always be my favorite movie

  • I love Johnny but Gene will always be Wonka!

  • And this is why, hands down this version is so much better then the Depp Crap.

  • 148 dislikes?!?!?! Some People are so culturally deprived! -_- This song makes me happy! :)

  • Whenever i've got the drugfree munchies and want to eat chocolate and enjoy a freakshow at the same time i always watch this clip.. tada da la la la,,,, pure imagination..... hmmm da da da you'll be free , take it from here Wonka!

  • this is making me hungry!!

  • laws of attraction in a song

  • I go to this movie for writers block cure

  • I watch in 1930...

  • suck it depp

  • This movie was my childhood . The simple elegance and fun of it always entertained me , and made me madly love Gene Wilder , and now there isn't a movie he's in i haven't seen.

And also , I think Charlie and the Chocolate factory was a good movie when seen as an independent film and not a remake of this movie , because it really wasn't a remake , just

  • @heartmulgrew15 It wasn't a remake of this movie it was just a more faithful retelling of the book this movie is based on. But that in no way means this version was in anyway less better than it is.

  • @CassDaMan1138 I know, I said it wasn't lol And the newer one is much closer, I agree. I think they are both geat movies,

  • why would anyone want to remake this?

  • @wingsoffreedomtheif Greedy Americans who want to rewrite and remake a popular movie to make some fast money and some what ruin the original move.

  • One day I will be as talented as Gene Wilder. I will be the one in a million that make it.

Or i could just be the 999,999 in a million that work in an LA cafe

  • Thumbs if you're watching this in 2012!

  • strange, the ticket said they could bring a friend, yet they all brought relatives

  • I SAW HIM ON THE SHAYTARDS, I SWEAR! hahahahaha xD

  • Best movie for me

  • When I was little, I really wanted one of those cups he eats at the end. They were so cool!!

  • This Wonka was still very strange, but he always seemed to know what he was doing. Something about his voice and actions let you know that.

Burton's Wonka just seems insane, and personally, I found him unlikable.

This Charlie was very relatable. He was kind-hearted, but certainly wasn't an angel. He made selfish decisions, because that's what a little boy would.

Burton's Charlie would make Jesus Christ jealous of his selflessness.

Feel free to agree or argue. These are just my thoughts.

  • @FireJigglypuff2310 I think the remake is horrible... They made Charlie... BRITISH. OMFG, that adorable all-American child, turned into some horrible little British piece of shit. The original was about what young American children deserve - freedom, health, family, happiness. It made me so,so proud to be American at the end, when they flew off in that glass elevator, free, having accomplished the dream. Burton, fuck you for betraying this country...

  • @YellowLickilickyXL Well you're a fucking stupid American pig, you know nothing about Britain and you have no right to insult us like this! Fuck all of you and this crappy original version. Roald Dahl hated this terrible Americanisation and I'm glad he did. British Charlie forever...

  • @ChocolateHoneycomb You realize you fed the troll right? Or at least I hope he was a troll. Otherwise he's just an idiot. But you're being just as prejudiced as that douche, so yeah...

  • I know some folks don't like Tim Burton's version, but his version is alot closer to the book than this one. The author himself didn't like this version.

Note, I am not saying this version is bad at all, it give me goosebumps everytime I hear this song. Gotta give Burton some credit for doing something different.

  • im putting on this play n 2012 but willy wonka jr and i luv learning it

  • Anonymous operation Hiroshima sent me here

  • The most amazing movie ever created....not even Johny depp could change that..

  • One of my favorite songs hmmmmm.

  • roald dahl loved the mixture of children and anarchy. This movie didnt quite fit with what was in his head and doesnt marry up with the book very neatly. Its a real shame because it is a magical film in its own right. The Tim Burton remake is god-awful though. Depp's Wonka is a wee bit creepy for my liking. Wilder's Wonka is beautifully quirky and endearing.

  • Boy am i glad they didn't make a remake of this movie.

    That would be awful.

  • FUCK REMAKES!!

  • I don't own this one, but I do have Willy Jackoff and the Chocolate Cream Factory

  • the new one sucks

  • Wow this Movie brings back memories and this scene is one of my favorite parts. I'm 29-years-old now and when I saw this scene it had me in tears. They don't make movies like this anymore.

  • One of my favorite movies when I was a kid. I still love it.

  • This movie should have won the Oscar and Golden Globe for 1971. Gene Wilder was amazing in this movie.

  • Everytime and i mean everytime i watch this i go and buy a willy wonka bar and eat it.

  • I am watching this right now, for me this is more Christmas than Santa itself

  • @bossuitupxo Although technically I'm watching it in 2012.

  • Hold your breath, make a wish, count to three.

  • steve jobs saw this and changed the world. RIP

  • OMG CHILDHOOD!

  • This is about 10,000 times better than Tim Burton and Johnny Depp's pathetic remake.

  • @rendertank I never thought of it as a remake, the newer version was meant to be closer to the book, this one was more of a diff. interpretation.

  • @rendertank Though I won't argue that this particular song cannot be surpassed at all, and hopefully no one will try to remake THIS particular movie.

  • @rendertank NO! YOUR WRONG SIR! YOU LOSE!………… It's a Million times better!

  • This is my childhood. Here, in this one song.

  • Roald Dahl hated this film because he thought it focused more on Willy Wonka, than Charlie.. Which, I don't know. I think it shows them both very well, either way, this movie is amazing. it's one of those movies you HAVE to see in your lifetime.

  • @ThePINK2017 If he hated the 1971 film (if he was still alive) I imagine he would absouletely have buring hatred for the 2005 film. I can't stand the 2005 film. It's terrible.

  • @sabers2th I would think so too. but idk. he also said that another reason why he didn't like this one was because he thought it was too calm for his taste. so the 2005 one might have fit his standards, but i would sure hope not. no way of knowing now lol

  • This brought back some memories. Thanks for uploading ^_^

  • I want to taste the teacup

  • My favorite actor and favorite movie of all time.

  • @Oakcliffmex100 Well Said Budd :)

  • @Oakcliffmex100 as much as i love johnny depp, i gotta agree. although i must say johnny depp and gene wilder are my favorite actors <3

  • @Oakcliffmex100 It's been proven that Gene is better. By scientists.
