  • moustache on the right at 0:23 !!!!!!!

  • No bargain counter tenors here! You guys rule!

  • Yes it's good but the tempo changes a lot when it's not really meant to, and it's too american for me, but hey that's my opinion. they're a real tight ensemble though. good.

  • This is AMAZING!

  • potato wedge is HOT!

  • I like Stalin on the far right there.

  • Great voices of the Sopranist and Countertenors!!!

  • I have a particular fondness for this song, and heard them perform it live in Little Rock. Does anybody here know where I can purchase a better recording of this song?

  • @bandman135 If you're still looking for a copy of my spirit sang all day ,you could do worse than The Kings Singers version, which I have just this minute put on my MP3 player my copy is EMI 7 49765 2 in the UK

  • Yea my senior year and first year of doing OMEA All State, we did Conversion of Saul as well. That song is still stuck in my head. I remember trying to learn the words at first was a pain. But when you have 3 days of like 16 hour singing, you learn music quite fast. haha

  • I miss IMEA All-State Honors... David Rayl my first year and Z. Randall Stroope my second...

  • stroope. did u guys do riveder les stelle?

  • No, dude, IMEA - Illinois. We did Conversion of Saul and his arrangement of Danny Boy.

  • eastern

  • Me too!

  • Omg me too...were you guys at regionals in meriden, ct???

  • The name of Gerald Finzi's wife, who had died when he wrote this, was Joy! Which makes this piece all the more special.

  • that was wonderful

  • This is beautiful

  • ha ha. It's men doing the soprano part

  • I don't get it, where are the women singing?

  • There are no women singing. This is a male group. Soprano, alto, tenor, bass. All male.

  • saw them at kennedy center. they were awesome.

  • Saw the group several years ago...even talked to some of them--and got some of their autographs they were amazing in person!!!!

  • Oh, amazing counter-tenors! Really lovely performance of one of my favorite pieces.

  • Fantastic performance! It's a shame the video quality isn't better, to fully capture their sound.

  • holy mother of pearl.

  • Chanticleer sounds fine here, but the superior performance is by the Finzi Singers. There is more love and commitment to Finzi's spirit in their reading.

  • My chorus sang this song. It's trickyyyyy...

  • soo perfect!

  • Wow. I saw them live a few days ago at NDSU. They are stellar.

  • Just saw at NC-ACDA in Fargo...Wicked awesome!

  • absolutly - stunning - nothing but stunning!

  • Wow, I love it, I love this song, I love you guys, thank you.

  • in what way?

  • I love Chanticleer.

It just surprises me how good they are covering all voice parts as males.

  • yeah their countertenors are great. i guess creepy wasnt the best word to use then.

  • No no. It's the right word. It's so good that it's creepy.

  • Oh my jooooy.. ha I love this song so much

  • i love chanticleer.

  • I fell in love with this song in 1985 performing it with the NJ All State Chorus. SUPERB men

  • Chanticleer. music to my soul.

  • Oh, Chanticleer, you make my heart sing :)

  • What an amazing performance! Well done!

  • damn. all that needs to be said

  • The King Singers sang the more appropriate arrangement which does not have the counter tenor (not soprano) singing in the soprano range through out the piece. The King Singer arrangement is available everywhere.

  • What defines appropriate? It is not inappropriate for counters to sing a soprano line. This is an amazing performance of an astounding piece of music, and all you can think about are the counters singing a soprano line. This is why I can't stand many musicians. Get over all that stuff, and simply enjoy the music.

    Lovely performance, gentlemen.

  • Actually, after listening to the piece again, it is a good arrangement. It is the sound quality of the recording that is so offensive to the ear. The quality of the recording makes the counter tenor sound irritating. PLEASE post the video again with better sound.

  • phenomenal! :)

  • very good :D

  • xD counter tenors didn't have thir balls crushed for the high voice

  • practice makes perfect.

  • ... I'm feeling slighty seasick from all the swaying.

  • these boys are amazing and this song is really fun to do and when i did it i never liked any of the other parts but the alto part but when they do it because they are all male is sounds so much better

  • I saw them last night at the Barclay in Irvine, CA. Well done guys!

  • That Guy singing Soprano is a little Scary

  • simply amazing!

    and that is an understatement

my choir's recording at skywalker also
