NO offense to these good musicians. John Pattitucci couldn't be funky if he played in The Ohio Players from now until the end. John is always amazing, but I saw this same song with his Ray Charles project at the elrey in LA. They were the real deal. Steve Hass had all these cool sounds and a deep funk. So did John Benitez. One of his best bands that could play jazz and funk. This trio is a throw away. A pick up band.
he uses scales, arpeggios chromaticisms, plays in substitute keys and uses parallel motion (playing the same idea in different places one after the other) in this video. i heard he uses the diminished scale a lot to get that "out" sound too. but i think for this tune he's using (beleive it or not) the pentatonic scale with a major 6th in the scale a lot of the time along w/above mentioned stuff. SCO IS KING!
Correction: Hottentot is from A Go GO, not Bump. It is so devastating what he does to his own songs! Amazing. Anything is possible. Take away the organ and he takes the song in a new direction. Total inspiration.
Yo estuve al otro lado del Mapocho... Y se escuchaba igual de bn... Genial!
