I used to be one of those lonesome cowboys, proud and independant, heroic and solitary, bandit killer, women savior... then I took an arrow to the knee.
The fantastic bass voice is Mister Jean Stout, who was the french singing voice of Baloo in the "Jungle Book". I have interviewed him in my blog "Dans l'ombre des studios"
After hearing this song aftet 20 years brings back memories of my childhood when my mother was still and things were so much simpler. My deepest respect to you and to anyone that loves Lucky Luke.
Damn man, can't sleep and saw this accidently after 10 years ..so much memories, remembering this song bring me so much memories, when everything was white, when i didn't know what lie is, politics, death.. i was just sitting in my grandparent's room and watching this.. now i'm 19 and would give everythin' to live just one day in my childhood with my family...
I was very little when I heard this song for the first time, and I swear I didn't know any English back then... yet, somehow, the title chant got stuck in my head, living in the corners of my mind for all these years, occasionally coming out when I had an urge to sing something. And, when I was little, I sang nothing but cartoon themes. It must've been hilarious (or irritating) from my mother's point of view. Imagine a pigtailed 6-years-old girl singing "I'm a poor, lonesome cowboy". :D
funny how the chorus reminded me of elvis presly's "always on my mind". I thought: "must be from roughly the same time period". I was quite right: this movie came out in 1971, elvis recorded his song in 1972.
Pat Woods I'm a poor lonesome cowboy Lyrics: [Refrain :] Lonesome cowboy, lonesome cowboy, You're a long long way from home Lonesome cowboy, lonesome cowboy, You've a long long way to roam I'm a poor lonesome cowboy I'm a long long way from home And this poor lonesome cowboy Has got a long long way to roam Over mountains over prairies From dawn till day is done My horse and me keep riding Into the setting sun [au refrain :]
this is the names of the people who press the 'dislike' button:daltons(4),billy the kid, jesse james, phil defer, bell star, pat poker, oklahoma jim and tzos jaimon...
I love that song, and I love Lucky Luke! And I steel see it, even now, when I am almost 20! But I am not embarrassed, my motto is "never grow up, and you will enjoy life"!
I noticed the Irish fellow named Pat Woods has disappeared off the web too. I do not know what happened to him but I can ask around if you like? I am not the son of the man named Pat Woods who used to play music with Kathy Lowe.I did not write the words or music to the song 'I am a poor lonesome Cowboy' that was done by Claude Boiling. I think I told this story in full somewhere but briefly. Claude whisked me away from in front of the Cafe Les Deux Magot in his green 12 cylinder green Jag.
sure guys now we re older and the earth is so bad i like it so much i remember when i was a young boy watching LUCKY LUKE and have it on a watch i won it with some milkos i bought
I've always dreamed of being like Lucky Luke, just living a life on the road, never knowing what the next day is going to bring, having no social connections or obligations and just being your own master.
The new Lucky is older now and living in Dublin. He has finished cleaning up the old style crony corruption that was pervasive in Ireland and has convinced the Dalton Brothers who have just been released from Mont Joy Prison part of a gang of Irishmen intent on making Ireland into a fair place to live.
Yes there is the chance that the new movie treatment written with some friends could be made here in Ireland with Robin Williams and the animators from The Snowman but the owners of Lucky Luke may not allow us to go ahead with out paying some of money up front .
omg, i wanna be 6 years old again, sitting in my pyjama in front of TV, drinking milk, eating some cookies and watch lucky luke again, defeating the daltons, no problems in those days...thumbs up if you agree with me...
@reignbowsix Why dont just do it again and relive those happy times i do it sometimes whit the cartoons i can remember i was watching when i was a kid and sometime it makes me cry and realy miss those good old times you speak off.
@reignbowsix What I'd like would be to be the (not so) lonesome cowboy himself, roam with my horse, cross roads of others wanderer sometimes. Live my live simply, not asking anything to any-one, not being anybody's fool, be free, simply free. (But if I could be 6 again I'd be has happy has you watching it on my granny's knees)
Used to see the cartoon "daisy town" many times when I was a kid and this nostalgic music gives me good childhood memories. Thank you for the post, it´s very hard to find this nowadays.
