I heard there was a recent BBC production concerning this piece and its role in peoples lives. Is this the Radio4 production people are referring to? Is there anywhere I can listen to this programme? I have contacted the author and have not heard from her.
I had the most perfect moment in my life life with this melody. actually not being allowed to go on deck. the wawes was to rough, but I did it anyway, between Iceland and Greenland. That was the perfect moment to here this melody wawes just attacking me softly, Mother Earth touched me, like this melody touches me.
I heard it for the first time on radio 4 recently too. I was in the car sobbing. This piece seems so cathartic, if there are any tears in you, this will bring them out. If not, it will calm, uplift or energise you... whatever you need from it at any given time, it seems to supply. Pure, beautiful, perfect.
Yes, I'd like to join in the chorus of approval for the Radio 4 programme, and for Tamsin Little's wonderful performance. I need some advice - I need to learn a piece for a concert my friend is hosting at Christmas, with a mixture of proper professional musicians and so-so amateurs like myself. I am wondering if this would be a good piece to try and learn for that!
Wonderful piece of music. I have only just discovered it through a prog on Radio 4 yesterday and Tamsin Little was on it too. Thank you Tamsin I've now bought the CD.
This is one of my favourite pieces of music of all time. It's unbelievable how a series of musical notations put together into some kind of order can create some of the most complex emotions inside you. Love it.
Very haunting, had to listen once again before going to bed, it made me weep gently, calmed my soul and took me to another level. I forwarded it to my daughter in the south of France to play to our darling grandchild who seems to want to stop what she is up to and listen to classical music. She is only 15 months old! I want to hear more of this type of music by Tamsin Little. I heard her on Radio 4 today. Thank you Tamsin.Love your version best of all.

I've heard this song so many times before, it's dotted around everywhere... but it really caught my attention in the BBC's documentary Auschwitz: Nazis and The Final Solution... Words cannot describe the emotional power of this piece... you have to hear it for yourself. Time stands still, and every emotion and thought you've had seems to come together... Beauty beyond words, thank you for uploading.
I was listening to this music while watching the total lunar solstice eclipse and realized that the name is called mirrors within mirrors. The Sun is casting our earthly collective Shadow into the Moon and we are watching it. The eclipse is like a mirror and we are a mirror within a mirror!
I listened to this piece in my hotel room when i was ghastly sick and hurting on the day of my audition for juilliard. this inspired me to keep going and now i end up here at the school. thank you for this music.
So much better with the violin instead of the cello. Very nice version Tasmin. It is amazing what Arvo Part can do with the simplest musical movements.
So far no idiot commented badly or against anyone. That is very nice. Please, keep this video sections free from arguments and hate, just enjoy these masterpieces. Thank you.
I want to quote what someone once said of this song.
"If this song finds you at that certain crucial moment, it not only has the ability to entirely change your view on music, but your potential to notice the inherent beauty in the realities that constantly surround you. Spiegel im Spiegel is--up to this point in my life--my favorite song. It is a song that has enough space to allow the listener to fill it with his own emotions, but also his failings to live up to the beauty it presents.
This is perfect purity. If God has a voice, he speaks through Pärt's music. Every time I hear this music, my soul seems to be transformed into pure light ... And the tears flow - but all the pain slowly leaves the body ...
this is absolutly the most beautiful peice of music i have ever herd, i am a fan of trance/dance music, but love to find music like this to take me away to a different place, and just be. truly magical wow.
I only just found that this performance of mine is here, and saw your lovely comments. I am really glad that this performance has touched you so deeply.
and i would hold him right between the speakers so that the beauty and innocence of this music would impress on him a quality of virtue, love, simplicy, honesty and sublimity. this cd is one of my favs, fratres is intense
have heard many versions of this - I am loving Yours - played with authentic simplicity and deeply emotional at the same time ... just wonderful. Thank You
cannot quite capture the quality on my laptop. when heard on good quality speakers, tasmin little plays this in a way that touches the most painful experiences of my heart in the most exquisite, agonisingly poignant way. although it hurts, i am sure that i heal a little more each time i hear it. i hope that it works for others too.
It gets me in the same way too! Reminds me of something so painful and this piece evokes some strong emotions but it seems to have a healing quality about it.
@PhantineXX1 hi there........... thank you for taking the time to reply to my comment.... and glad that you agree with me. good wishes, friend. robbiew8n
Actually, my taste for this piece is a little slower... But... this rendition captivated me and transcended my taste... What a very meaningful recording....
Hmmm... Inception much?

Yes, I've just heard it today for first time on Radio 4. So did my sister! Both of us enjoyed it tremendously - and the accompanying stories.

Heard this today on Radio 4. Absolutely breathtakingly beautiful piece and exquisitely performed by Tasmin.
I may get to see you next weekend when you perform at the Yehudi Menuhin school as it's quite close to where I live.
