Now the real question is... : who will code to the ps3? Answer: who gets real good money : God of War 3, Uncharted 2 ... while other crossplatform gaming companies will use the CELL-PPE as a 1-core unit. In that case xbox360 is better, easier to program to, BUT that 1 or 2 PS3 exclusive worth more than millions of xbox games.
I don't what to pick. I love the playstation and the xbox. I would get an xbox but I have heard that the disks are small. And In this future, games are getting bigger. The ps3 can hold 35 gigabytes of data. Bur it's more expensive and it's framerate and lighting doesn't have a good feel. The xbox makes it look great. Such a hard choice...

@dfpcmaia yes, a normal computer can only handle one task, but it does another one in less a second, while PS3 does tasks ate the exact same time and not 0,4 0,5... seconds after.
The cell processor is very complex, that's why the first games on PS3 looked worse than 360, but now is the other way around, because 360 has 3 3.2 Ghz normal processors, ps3 has 1 3.2 Ghz normal processor and 7 SPE, SPE are like processors but with only one function, one for lights, one for IA, one for physics, etc

@FilipeSLB400 A normal computer today can handle up to 12 tasks at the same time. Gulftown processors like the i7 980X have 12 threads, while a regular quad-core handles 4 tasks at once. Cell, on the other hand, only handles 2, since the PPE has 2 threads and the SPEs don't have any.
Also, the SPEs are nothing like an usual core. They don't have direct access to system memory, they don't work independently, they don't have any cache, and they have a different set of instructions.
PS3 just prove have the best graphics in this gen, thanks to the Cell. The GPU don't work alone, work with the Cell together.
Besides the variety of Games, you can imagine now to play with Move (a Motion Controller) with graphics of Killzone 2. That's amazing.
Now with Crysis 2, a programed and not a ported version according with Crytek on PS3, they will proove the PS3 can take a better performance, thanks to the Cell.

(part 2) now yes the ps3 has free internet. psn is very good but also very basic. the ps3 has more of a strong single player experience which isnt bad at all also the psn store imo is alot better than the xbox market place. also the ps3 has a very good success rate and rarely has a system failure (its called the yellow light of death similar to the red rings of death). the ps3 fail rate is 10.6% and xbox is 56.7% i think so really it depends on what kind of gaming experience u want...

Hey guys. I love the PS3. And based whats under the hood it is indeed superior to the 360. However, one thing I can say about microsoft is that least when their systems fail-they take resposibilty. You get a RROD you ship it in to microsoft and get a free refurbished XBOX 360. If you get the YLOD, you have to pay 150.00 to get a refurbished playstation 3. And if you do not have your data backed up on an external device. You lose evrything. I`ll never buy an XBOX. But I tip my hat to microsoft.

Pentium 4 and the Athlon 64 CPUs have about the same power with cell on general purpose software. However cell is capable of producing floating point performance(what graphics cards are doing). Modern graphics cards are capable of producing 40 times more floating point than cell.
Compared to what the Cell is made to do yea it is... But the Cell is for gaming and the P4 isnt so... In the end it depends on what you would use both for.. P4 is desktop.. Cell games...So you cant really compare them since the cell would never be used on a destop... so watevr leave as bay

@fsjal117 More games, but not more good games. A lot of the exclusives are big flops except for the overrated ones (i.e. Halo 3 and Gears). Games that flopped are Metro and Deadly Premonition, Too Human - tons more that were praised and then forgotten. There are games that do deserve recognition like Mass Effect 1 and 2 and L4D..but those are on PC so they are technically not Xbox 360 exclusives. The only game that truly deserves it is Forza, really. 360 is a big flop.

It's exactly like in the 90s, when Sega Genesis was advertising its "Blast Processor", SNES had "Mode 7" and Sega Saturn had "more processors than the competition". These ads are BULLSH*T. Oh @CervantesXV, you're not seeing the big picture. In order to make fun games, you need a powerful system. Yes the 360 is powerful, but not nearly as much. In order to bring you fun games that you will be impressed by, developers like guerilla and naughty dog and insomniac needed all of that computing power to make their games possible. How else would you enjoy 32 vs. 32 in Killzone 2 or 30 vs 30 in Resistance 2? :D
pluss we created the cell brodband anyway and up to now mankind has never been able to create a machine of thought prosseor that can out do the human mind. the thing is the cell brodband can do some great technical fates and can solz math problems far quiker tyhan the avarge human (not including kim peek, rain man)
Why would you compare them? The Cell is for extreme mathematical calculations and number crunching. Your Intel Pentium, and everyone else's processor in their computer for that matter, is for everyday computing, meaning that it is incomparable to the Cell since both are made for different functions.

wow most of these comments are fanboy comments... ok listen yes the xbox is a little less in hardware and all that but gamewise and online wise it is a lot better than the ps3. the ps3 still has good online and very good games (btw i do not own an xbox i own a ps3 so dont call me an xbox fanboy k?) but xbox live is a lot more connected and a lot more fun imo (i have been on my friends xbox when im over his house) yes u have to pay for it but i think its because its a better service

Hey guys. I love the PS3. And based whats under the hood it is indeed superior to the 360. However, one thing I can say about microsoft is that least when their systems fail-they take resposibilty. You get a RROD you ship it in to microsoft and get a free refurbished XBOX 360. If you get the YLOD, you have to pay 150.00 to get a refurbished playstation 3. And if you do not have your data backed up on an external device. You lose evrything. I`ll never buy an XBOX. But I tip my hat to microsoft.

yeah...ik my ps3 ylod yesterday D: well i learned my lesson: back up my data xD and yeah the 150 is a biiiiiiig bummer but if u have the warranty u dont have to pay the 150 but my warranty ran out so im fucked -_- but hey i still have all my psn stuff everything like game ranks (like in mw2) to the stuff ive downloaded on the ps store (you can re download things from the store for free if uve bought them already) so u dont lose EVERYTHING but u lose ur saved game data though.......

Broadband Engine is 8 Processors working as One...That Means it could hand alot more when Sync. then some wanna be Duo Core... Cell can handle Way more then a P4 with stupid HT.. Get your facts str8 before you go blaming around

Pentium 4 and the Athlon 64 CPUs have about the same power with cell on general purpose software. However cell is capable of producing floating point performance(what graphics cards are doing). Modern graphics cards are capable of producing 40 times more floating point than cell.

Compared to what the Cell is made to do yea it is... But the Cell is for gaming and the P4 isnt so... In the end it depends on what you would use both for.. P4 is desktop.. Cell games...So you cant really compare them since the cell would never be used on a destop... so watevr leave as bay

Xbox does not have a cell processor. The 360 overheats and has no games that surpasses the feats the PS3 climbed over with ease.

@fsjal117 More games, but not more good games. A lot of the exclusives are big flops except for the overrated ones (i.e. Halo 3 and Gears). Games that flopped are Metro and Deadly Premonition, Too Human - tons more that were praised and then forgotten. There are games that do deserve recognition like Mass Effect 1 and 2 and L4D..but those are on PC so they are technically not Xbox 360 exclusives. The only game that truly deserves it is Forza, really. 360 is a big flop.

For one, it is running at 3.2 GHz, almost as good as the new i7 processors and those i7's run at about $600! also the Cell is also being implement in other products such as sony and toshiba tv, also being used in some super computer. @irockusuk The cell is not being used in a super computer. A CPU based on the cell is being used. i7 has up to 6 cores running at round 3.5GHZ each core. The cell has one core running at 3.2GHZ. We're just joking - SONY looks so self-important in this commercial... It's exactly like in the 90s, when Sega Genesis was advertising its "Blast Processor", SNES had "Mode 7" and Sega Saturn had "more processors than the competition". These ads are BULLSH*T. Oh @CervantesXV, you're not seeing the big picture. In order to make fun games, you need a powerful system. Yes the 360 is powerful, but not nearly as much. In order to bring you fun games that you will be impressed by, developers like guerilla and naughty dog and insomniac needed all of that computing power to make their games possible. How else would you enjoy 32 vs. 32 in Killzone 2 or 30 vs 30 in Resistance 2? :D

pluss we created the cell brodband anyway and up to now mankind has never been able to create a machine of thought prosseor that can out do the human mind. the thing is the cell brodband can do some great technical fates and can solz math problems far quiker tyhan the avarge human (not including kim peek, rain man)

Why would you compare them? The Cell is for extreme mathematical calculations and number crunching. Your Intel Pentium, and everyone else's processor in their computer for that matter, is for everyday computing, meaning that it is incomparable to the Cell since both are made for different functions.

huh, all that power yet there is NO ps3 game on this planet that has yet to utilize all cores on the cell. it would be EXTREMELY difficult to write any kind of program that could use all cores at the same time. so what is the point of 8?

it has 4 x 2.66 ghz
ps3 has 8 x 3.2 ghz
