We had a Newf, Burt, a Newf/Lab, Frank, and a kitty named Kitty. We would take Burt and Newf to the local dog run for an hour's play on summer evenings. When they got home desperate for water, we would draw a bucket water for them.

Kitty would wake up to the sound of the water, she would saunter in, Shoulder the dogs away. The she would Jump up on the edge of the bucket and drink at her leisure.

The dogs would shift around on their legs and give us plaintive looks. We would be in hysterics.

Very cute, my wife says cats rule and dogs drool, that is why we are picking up our "little" Newfoundland pup in a couple of days.

I think that they complement each other well; both are easy going and very sweet. My Newf Remy absolutely adores Luna and he is her protector. Like a body guard, he will pop out of nowhere if she is ever in trouble at the dog park. That said Luna the basset is the boss of the house. Both Remy and Piper (my other newf, a Landseer) weigh in around 140 pounds and yet they will both walk away from their food bowl in a second if she want it.
