  • your wheels are turning ;p

  • Looking the least 'Bicycle Like' of the brands available, I love my KMX Trike (Cobra model) because it can handle anything you can throw at it. The gearing on this model is a little low but great on hills. I can only make it go about 40km/hr on the level, steering is no problem at any speed if you just let it do its own thing. It has an very small turning circle that works well on the switchback foot ramps I ride over. I would however like some sort of suspension like the new ICE brand trikes.

  • I beat the crap out of the KMX KART (google that one) and found that unless you #$%^&* well try, you won't flip it on daily use.

My ride was a death ride. I do 200% what our renters will do.

I even offered $5 to any kid at the show who could roll it and tell me HOW they did it.

KMX won't endo (balanced rear set weight).

Separate braking systems (Left and right wheel) + (rear wheel only)

Which is a $%^& blast on sand for a 180 spin around.

Mag wheels take a LOT of abuse.

    Fast shifting too!

    Low $

  • Problem with this model:

    1) Endos. Pull the brakes too hard (ie emergency stop) and the bike lurches forward due to center forward weight, & the front chain rings SLAM the ground (CHA CHING$)

    2) Flip-a-bility. Get this thing going and try doing a turn. One wheel will lift up and Chuck Norris be with you (that's MY god) if you can recover without a rollover.

    3) Spin outs. Combined left & rear wheel on one brake lever cause an uneven braking pull to the left and Zamboni! you've spun/flipped.

  • Greenspeed model shown is a TADPOLE design. Tadpole: Two wheels in the front and one in back Delta: Two in back, one in front (flips SO easily) I got to Interbike (Vegas baby VEGAS) every year on behalf of a bike shop. We specialize in unusual rentals like quads, surreys, recumbents, Tricumbents, slingshots etc... Ive ridden this model. Things I look for: *Separate front and rear (combined, not separate) brakes. *Wide stance *Long leg room KMX kart is the best on market so far.
  • Thank you!

  • muito legal mesmo

  • Safety really depends on your riding style & conditions. Ride defensively & sensibly watching out for hazards I think a Trike has the edge. - Get a flat, hit gravel, lose traction on a curve you won't do a face plant on the Trike. Hit something & you don't get the leverage putting you head first into what you just hit. As for visibility with brightly coloured flags 6ft into the air, visibility isn't a problem, in fact most drivers give you a much wider passing margin.

  • I am looking for a comparison between bike and trike. There is no doubt, bike is safer in town as you can be seen much more easily.

I am interested in a comparison between bike and trike in speed and uphill.

  • @cero815

safe or not depends on how you control the bikes, e.g. a car, 4-wheel, can have accident if the driver don't pay attention when driving. Of course, a trike is more stable especially in low speed, but at high speed, the stability is similar, so can't tell which one is safer at high speed.

the only drawback for such recumbent is uphill, trike usually more heavy but still can climb even riding very slow. However, downhill is extremely stable and fast. Trike can be fast on the flat.

  • @gelunmak thank you. With safety I referred to being seen in this case. One sits higher point on the bike.

  • How fast do you think it was, and how long could you keep up that pace?

I'm curious because I just purchased a recumbent trike and can't wait for it to be delivered so I can get out and try it on the cycling courses here.

  • average can be over 30km/hr ...

  • Looks like a great trail!
