  • not worth 5 k

  • really good sc gives wings !!

  • Damn, that's one sexy MX-5!

  • F***Ing good Sound, Makes me wanna have a supercharger Kit for my 01 Miata, too!!!

  • ba ba baaaaaaaaaaaaaa

  • are you in the crossworth

  • Talk about some "get up and go"!

So what would be better, turbo or sc? and from that what would be the best bang for the buck?

  • Can anyone please tell me how much does the kit costs? Just the kit without installation. Please correct me if i'm wrong, but doesn't the New Focus 2012 has the same engine?...

  • I sold my NC to buy my Cayman S...what was I thinking!?

  • @bhegg you were thinking Luxurious leather interior and steering delicacy! I sold my Cayman S, too much attention :-(

  • nice video got a nc 2,0 sport and just been lovered... v-maxx coilover kit...what a different :D might go for the supercharger too...

  • Sick car

  • excelent comparison of the differance in power, can be so hard to find good comparisons!

  • Lol when he leaves you that far behind so fast, just give it up lol

  • lol...you're hitting the rev limiter every gear...

  • that blue one walked the red one bad!

although he hit the limiter EVERY GEAR LOLOL

    sweet cars man

  • You shouldn't shift at the redline limiter. you should look up the maximum RWHP of a stock MX-5 (unless you have mods in which case go to a dyno and look at the sheet) and shift at that. You lose power after that EXACT RPM.

  • @puppykicker54 The revlimitier on the miata is only about 100 RPMs above where its max power which is around 6800 the limitier is set around 7000 on most of them

  • @saaiello oh, well thanks for the info, now if i can ever find a way to drive a miata i'll know lol

  • Very nice but, I'd still like to have a NA with a V8 in it instead. Much faster and if you want even more power you can turbo or supercharge a v8. Now that would be some sick horse power. Love the miata with all my heart but sorry that it was never an option to order it with a V8. In about 6 months or less I'm sure their will be a V8 kit for the NC.

  • @turfwerks1 but the thing is with the engine it has you can work it to the nuts and still get decent fuel milage. if your workin a v8 to the nuts youll be getting fkin 8mpg

  • @julingy I can totally understand where you are coming from. I on the other hand I would never have a miata as an everyday driver. They are not really good in the rain let alone the Chicago winters that I have lived with all my life. I personally would have no problem filling a v8 MX-5 with 110 octane. For me this is just my toy race car now in life. Have fun with yours. She's an awesome car.

  • Not called 'Winning' Blue for nothing.

Great stuff, cheers. WB had a lovely exhaust note as well. :0)

  • AUUUUU sooooooooooo SEXY

  • that blue mx5 looks beastly!

  • i want that....

  • guy loves his rev limiter

  • @jnicholsonjr nope, THIS guy loves the rev limiter .youtube.com/watch?v=3ST8dq_H_VY

  • is that a JDM rev-limiter that you installed? I really like that sound it makes

    -el cougar

  • oh these cars r good! huh!? ..dont understand why then they r so underated even thou these r proper sports cars...!!

  • that was awesome i have a 91 eunos and i love every minute driving it :)

  • fkn nice sound

  • If I could fit in a new MX-5 I would snag one and do this SC and some coilovers and have a heck of a time every day. Great car.

  • cant decide between coswort and BEGi kit for next year.

BEGi pushes up to 250hp, cost half as much as the cosi-system with 200hp ...

(with may be low pressure? correct me if im wrong)

    cheers

  • BEGi is working on a new coldside supercharger. pretyt exciting stuff

  • not for the NC MX-5 they aren't.

  • either way, you'll love your car so much more. All the NC needed was another 100hp and some coilovers to be perfect.

  • i don't know if they could keep it revvy like it is now if they changed the engine...thats part of why i like the miata is the revvyness. Although if i had something with low end v8 power i wouldn't mind the change :).

  • @caseman86 ls1 swap

  • I don't think you'll find many used Cosworthed cars.

  • BEcause they are all blow up? :-)

Just jokin. I'll cosworth mine for sure.

  • mpalm887 I could care less what the S2K guys say. But consider this the Miata has more torque and weights about 400 pounds less than the Honda, advantage Mazda it has more potential the honda is dead in the water there won't be a 2011, Cosworth is F1 proven Race technology, you can't go wrong with stuff like that, such supercharger was made with Lotus and Honeywell father of turbo Technology. It won't take much to eat an S2K for lunch, just an intake in this engine can net 20 additional horses.

  • are they both stock

  • Very cool. Can't wait to get turbo on my NA.

  • bluemeany06, what trim level is your MX-5?

  • sport

  • Once this car is tuned up and making ~220whp or more, who wins: Cosworthed MX-5 or stock S2k? Just curious because I want to buy one. :-)

  • S2k has less torque than a naturally aspirated MX-5...so.........

  • I think MX-5 :P

  • Good to know guys. Thanks for the opinions. I agree and am currently shopping for an MX-5. Want a used one with as few options as possible and highest mileage possible...going to switch out A LOT.

  • Dont go Mx5 the s2000 is a far better drive took them both out b4 i bought my s2k. The vtec is a much better bases to start tuning then a cosworth engine. Vortech supercharger and your well over 300bhp then its up to you how far you go

  • it would take a lot more than a Cosworth SC to get 300hp out of an MX-5, and considering the near perfect reliability of those VTEC systems that is a tempting route. I'm close to closing a deal on an MX-5 so I'm glad I got this to think about before I finally buy.

  • Good luck mpalm887 hope you enjoy whatever motor you go for

  • Nice comparison. The supercharger seems to strengthen the already solid mid range quite a bit.

  • That the blue MX-5 is beautiful

  • the MX5 is the perfect time attack car. it is lighter than an S2K and has more potential (this vid, prime example) i gota buy and run an MX5!!!

  • Yeah! I went to an autocross event and there were several Miatas there. This one miata took 1st for the quickest time.Better then the vettes, S2ks, BMWs, STis and the like. I was able ride in some guys 300hp turbocharged 1st gen. miata! He forgot to put on the right tires for the autoX event, so basically he was drifting around the cones. It was fun.

  • sounds like fun, Im kinda getting tired of my FWD GF22 body 626 es KLG4. i bored it, stroked it, ported the intake and whent turbo with KLZE pistons but...... its still FWD. lol. I want to get an MX5 because it has more potential as a autocross car/ Drift MONSTER! I think there is a video on youtube of a turbo miata murdering an RB25 skyline on the 1/4 mile.

  • Nice. I feel you man. I used to have a Mazda6 tuned, but the only thing missing was RWD... Since then I have upgraded and sold my 6 and got a twin-turbo BMW, RWD. hah. Sooo much fun! But for some reason I've been lookin' at MX-5s and find them appealing. My friend has one in Mint condition. Go for it get a MX-5 I seen some cheap ones that are in great condition. All you'd have to do it pop on a turbo/Supercharger and have a ball drifting.

  • The L-engine is so superior to the B-engines in every way. I love it!!

  • What's the L-engine? Mind explaining please?

  • "L" is the code for the new 1.8-2.3L Mazda "MZR" engines. Ford also makes and uses Mazda's L-engines, as the Duratec I4s. "MZR" is a brand name, like "Duratec" and not a specific engine code.

-LF-VE is the 2.0 (LF-DE if it has no VVT)

    -L3-VE is the 2.3 from the mazda3/6

-L3-VDT is the DISI turbo engine code from the mazdaspeeds. VDT means "V"VT, "D"irect Injection, "T"urbo.

"VE" means "V'VT "E"FI or if no VVT then it's "DE" "D"OHC "E"FI

the L8 is the 1.8L version that we don't have in NA

  • it really gets up and scoots :)

  • That sounds so good man congrats! Love the supercharger whine and the exhaust sounds great as well! Check out some of my vids if you want... 2005 Focus ST (US SPEC) 2.3L duratec w/Steeda intake for now... but looking to do a cosworth 67mm TB, Cossie intake manifold and exhaust and eventually some boost!

  • sounds beautful!

  • Thanks, I think it sounds perfect now!

  • At the moment I have Bilstein shocks with Eibach Pro Kit springs, IL Motorsports Anti Roll Bars and IL Motorsport Chassis Braces. The car feels great! I Just need to have the geometry checked after I get the new wheels on. Looking forward to it!

  • pure inspiration

  • I have watched this video about 1000 times so thought I would post and say hello. I have bought one of the First Cosworth Superchargers in the UK But not got it fitted yet. Still waiting on the hoses for the RHD fitment.

  • Hi, Im on mx5 community too. Please please, where did you get the supercharger in the uk??? How much did it cost?

  • Bet you can't wait.....add some good shocks and it becomes an amazing expierience......

  • awesome. Maybe a stupidity, but... is that the same 'Cosworth' than the famous Ford tuner?

  • Yes it is.

  • Holy crap! My car's out of warranty in three months... :)

  • That is classified

  • What State was the Video done.

  • very nice, thanks for making the vids
