  • Hello Turkey friends. How are you ? I am Japanese.

Turkey is a country with a very wonderful culture!

Turkey is a great benefactor for Japan.

We do not forget it was helped by Turkey in 1985.

    I love Turkey and Turkish.

  • In Ottoman, the band was generally known as mehterân (مهتران, from the Persian plural mahtarān), though those bands used in the retinue of a vizier or prince were generally known as mehterhane (مهترخانه, meaning roughly, "a gathering of mehters", from Persian "house of the mahtar").

  • I am in a mehter band. Below is the description on the internet:

Ottoman military bands are thought to be the oldest variety of military marching band in the world. Though they are often known by the Persian-derived word mahtar (مهتر; mehter in Ottoman Turkish) in the West, that word, properly speaking, refers only to a single musician in the band.

  • it i snot persian, İt is Turkish, stop talking nonsense

  • I dont know, dont tell me. I researched it and the origins are said to be persian. I wouldnt know. Persian or Turkish I dont care, but if the sources are wrong, then im sorry

  • well no problem, sure u can search wrong, ı dotn care that too, dont worry

  • ok cool. Maybe I used wrong translations. Because I thought the word "Farsça" meant "Persian". I found this info in a Turkish site.

    w w w(dot)mehter(dot)c0m(dot)tr/tarihce(dot)aspx

  • The word Mehter is derived from the Persian dialect. Back in those days Persia was under the Ottomans. I am a member of the Australian Mehter Band.

  • Jkust to say, persia was NEVER under the ottomans, read up into your history.

  • Parts of it were. At the peak of the Ottoman empire in 1600 they were neighbours with eachother as the Ottoman empire had taken over many old Persian empire lands.

  • Look here, the name mehter from persian mahtaran hasent anything to do with that persian was under ottoman controll, but that the high class soltans used persian as a prestige language.

Second, nothing beyond baghdad. The lands of azerbajan, armenia and georgia shifted back and fourth.

After battle of chalderon in beginning of 1500, the border was stabilised.

Anything else is not true to history.

iraq always was separete arab country, even under iran or ottoman so never iran cuntry there.

  • @MatureWolf

    Not turkish but Ottoman :)

  • @king36er ottoman = turkish

  • "Mehter" is an Ottoman word, "Mehter Team/Band" is the first military band in the whole world.

today in Turkish we translate "Mehter" as "büyük", "pek ulu"

in english it can be translated as "grand", "serebe", "sublime".

    so Mehter Takımı:

    "Grand Band"

"Grand Band of Great Ottoman Army"

  • ..is mother of all

military marches from mozart, beethoven to sousa hail of the chief.: )
