When I was a kid we got to the Moon and it was naturally assumed that by, Oh, the year 2000 we would have gotten to Mars. Didn't happen. C'mon Americans! We throw ridiculous amounts of cash (or should I say debt) towards much less meaningful things. Let's just effin' do it.
I remember watching this on Sunday mornings around 8:30 or 9:00 back in the late '70's. Then watched Hot Fudge on Channel 7 wxyz. Abbott & Castello after that. Kids then had nothing to do but watch tv I guess?!
Back then, I used to watch Bozo on Channel 4 but for some reason they weren't allowed to do Bozo anymore so he had to come up with the Oopsy clown. The other Bozo was on the old CKLW from Windsor and he had Mr. Caly-opie who played the piano for all the kids on the show. Why don't they put these shows back on at least once a month for all of us kids from the 1960's?
Oopsy the Clown, a children's performer portrayed by St, Thomas , Ontario native Bob McNea (1929-2005), moved to CKCO after appearing for several years on Detroit, Michigan NBC affiliate WWJ-TV (now WDIV-TV). Bob was the Detroit "Bozo the Clown." He switced personas in which he then portrayed Oopsy on,"The Oopsy the Clown Show" aired for a while on WWJ and then Bob decided to move back to Canada and joined CKCO-TV.
Bob McNea was the original "Detriot," Bozo the clown for 8 years 1959-1967. In 1967 he was given the chance to air his own creation "Oopsy Daisy the clown," and he played Oppy for WWJ-Tv for another 12 years in Detriot 1967-1979 before relocitng back to Canada and airing the Oopsy show there on CKCO-Tv
actually Eric2542, Oopsy the Clown started out as the original Bozo in Detroit. When Bozo was cancelled, he was given the time slot and created the Oopsy character.
Wow, this video takes me back, too. I watched Oopsy on Channel 4 when I was a kid. This is an era long one of locally produced TV shows; it really was a simpler past.
I was more of a Sir Graves guy, but I did watch Oopsy as well. And when I was in first grade (in Windsor) I was on the Bozo the Clown show. God, almost 40 years ago! Crazy.
I used to think Oopsy was the greatest. Him & Bozo, I just couldn't get enough of them. Thanks for posting this video. It really brings back memories.
I was on Bozo when I was little. I was amazed by Bozo's red hair -- because we had a black and white TV and had no idea it was red until I saw him in person!
@otnipj3s Channel 4 Bozo??? I never watched Bozo on any channel other than CBET Channel 9 a day in my life... right after "The New Adventures of Pinocchio" and "Tales of the Wizard of Oz." Oddly, that block of programming started at 5:30 a.m.
Bob McNea played Bozo on Channel 4. When Bozo moved to Channel 9, Oopsy came to Channel 4. I even think that Bozo introduced us to Oopsy on his last show on WWJ-TV.
I grew up in Detroit watching Oopsy on WWJ now WDIV Channel 4 for many years. Wish they would put them on DVD. Boy television has changed over the years in Detroit.
when the world is smashed because of it's sins, "Amerikan Idol" "Family Guy" etc, these pigs who invented it will be in the cauldron, Detroit will be spared, and it will be pure again.
I grew up in Oak Park and used to watch Oopsy almost every weekend with my younger sister. I had completely forgotten about him until tonight, when I discovered Oopsy on YouTube.
Oopsy the clown was my grandpa. he brought laughter into a lot of canadian's homes and was a wonderful man. i miss him very much. he passed away a couple years ago but still lives on in our hearts
There's a lot of truth to that statement, dude. Our society's taste in humor has become so incredibly jaded & wicked, that unless something disgusting or blasphemous (against Christ) is portrayed, people just won't consider it funny. The America I grew up in is dead.
