This really does show how bad a season Johnson had (by his standards) pre-championships - injured in the 150m showdown with Bailey and losing his 58 race win streak. Normally there wouldnt be anybody in front of Johnson after 300m and 44.12 to win by 0.25 was the shortest winning margin of the 4 titles he won, he did admit to a cramp attack mid-race so this was probably the best win he had at the 400m World Champs despite breaking WR 2yrs later.
