I REMEMBER HAVING TO BUILD THESE SPEAKER ARRAY SYSTEMS IN THAT WINTER AND OUR GRND WAS OUT SO STATIC WAS COMING THROUGH TILL WE BLASTED THROUGH AND THE 7-11 ACROSS THE STREET COMPLAINED(WE SHOOK ALL ITEMS OFF THE SHELVES!!!!STATIC WE BLAMED IT ON! LITRALLY!!
One of the best FM series of songs. The underlying theme of the song is present but the harmony and musical talent that went into this song is way too good to be here on just youtube, this band needs to be in the Rock&Roll Hall of Fame.
Good first hit, I find myself doing this all the time my finger on the button to warn the human beings of Earth but Static is all I get in return ,and time is short, Verichip draws VERY NEAR, but none the less I love Pink World album best of all.
Have any of you seen the video? Who wants a copy, if they wont let us put it up, well i'll give away copies hahaha, is he kidding though. This is Pinkwrld, thespaceman, have been close to GOD 1 2 now 3.....Seriously if a few of you want a copy get in touch with me I'll Upload to You....check out my tube here, enjoy
You can only enjoy this song on here for a short time, many of us have tried to put both song and video up, but it is owned by Universal Music Group, it will soon be down, all of ours did too, sorry
Hi Everyone, Pinkwrld Here, I Take Care of The Tony Carey PPProject Tube, come on over check it out, learn more about what you are hearing, Planet P Project, is by the way only one man, every instrument, all vocals, written and Performed by Tony Carey....The First Planet P Project album was indead called Planet P, but it was forced to be changed as another band had copyright title. So Tony changed to Planet P Project.this cd has just been remastered and re-released again now back to Planet P
Yes, the copy I bought back in the early 1980s also said just Planet P. I can't remember where I found the album cover for this video ~ on the internet somewhere. And I have no idea why it now says Planet P Project. And yes, Box Of Frogs was great too! The song "Back Where I Started From" is great for cruising down the road at around 90 mph! LOL
@centuryrox Planet P PROJECT... was the original name... litigation soon followed, as the Alan Parsons PROJECT got their panties in a wad. Tony eventually prevailed... hence Plant P Project
@BillyJoeVegas Thanks for the info! I never knew that about the history of the band's name. I like the Alan Parsons Project too, but it seems awfully petty of them to get upset over the use of the word PROJECT. Glad to know that Tony Carey won that battle!
@centuryrox YVW...Ditto on Alan Parsons Project ! Big favorite of mine to this day... beginning with my purchase of the import vinyl of "Tales of Mystery and Imagination" Great pressing with beautiful graphics package by Hypnosis...Who knows, Alan may not have instigated the suit... I would rather like to think, it was his label... of this I am not sure, but the suit was a reality. BYW, Thanks for the posts :-)
Tonight I sat and listened to this album for the first time, without distractions, and I was very surprised at the complexity and variety of early electronic sounds. Each song has a new electronic surprise. Most all of which were no longer used in music just a few years later. I really crave and idolize those early synth and electronic sounds.
This and "Maniac" by Michael Sembello are 2 of the most desolate Eighties songs.....the video for "Static", accompanied by what night well be the most haunting music ever recorded, is profoundly disturbing even over 25 years later and with I Am Legend" evoking memories of it.
jvidell, I would have liked to have saved more back when but I was on dial-up, but I did keep a copy of the Static vid from TC's Tranquility Base website. Just never uploaded to youtube before and unsure if I need to get permission.
Still listen to this atmospheric track on a tired old audio cassette that I recorded from Tommy Vance's Friday Rock Show on BBC Radio 1 about a quarter of a century ago.
This album was a constant in my life during the 80's. I saw Tony at Summerfest, in Milwaukee summer 1984, maybe 85? What a showman ! ! I found Planet P Project on CD a couple years ago, and this song is once again in the regular rotation. Thanks for sahring ! ! !
@centuryrox I know! I wish the video was up! I think I caught it once, before all the legal mumbo jumbo caught up with it!! Freaking awesome song, so underated
Great song, thanks for posting.

The video for this song seemed to foreshadow the movie Dark City. I wonder if the video & movie were done by the same director.
