Anette is better to listen to her, when I see her dance on stage makes me sick, do not realize that music does not party and do heavy metal? That bad decicion to hire the mediocre who does not know the style of the band.

I don't care that they replaced Tarja. Tarja is a great singer...but she's not the -best-. They could have found someone just as good as her, or even better. Anette, unfortunately, is neither of these things. I listen to the newest album and feel sad knowing it could have been so much better if they got a girl who could sing. It's amazing lyrically speaking, but she ruins nearly every song she's on. :/
@eridaniblack I always thought that Floor Jansen would habe been a great choice, though she's always been a songwriter/composer herself and I'm not sure if Tumoas would be willing to share.

Last time I check it was Tuomas decision of who he would hire to sing and who he would fire (Hiring Anette/firing Tarja). It's not Tarja's band so he doesn't need to change the name or disband. Sure Tarja had a wonderful voice and it's sad to see her go but she's not the whole band.
If you don't like what they become then don't listen to them/Don't buy the CDs/Concert tickets or go listen to Tarja solo albums.
im personally more of a tarja fan. ill admit it. however i prefer her music now that she's gone solo. she writes the music herself and shes more free to do stuff in her own style. i dont like annete's voice, but nightwish has every right to do what they have now as well. they have every right to just as much musical freedom tarja has XD i dont hate annete, i just prefer a different kind of voice for my music :/
I watched both video's, and the only insults i heard where people yelling "Boooo". I didn't hear anyone blame Tarja. When Marko, and Tuomas had to ask Tarja to leave the band, what the heck where they supposed to do?...end Nightwish? I love Anette, she has brought something fresh, and new to the band.
@4stral1 i wish people would give anette some slack..shes got a wonderful personality,lovely voice,and she energives the crowd to the point they make the nw fans feel like they are part of the band.anette is one hell of a entertainer in my book.
A friend of mine was in the concert and said that a group of fans started screaming "TARJA". I reckon it was very unnecessary since it has been years since Tarja and Nightwish parted ways. People should have been more respectful if they went to a Nightwish concert and not Tarja's concert.
IMO Tuomas´ explanation that several factors contributed to Anette´s collapse in Brazil sounds reasonable. These include the fog machine, stress, exhaustion, some people´s rude bahaviour, so Tuomas doesn´t blame solely Tarja´s fans. Anette´s divorce process must have increased her stress and unhappiness but she obviously shares the son´s custody.
All the band mates approved together the DPP tour schedule and made a collective mistake of accepting too many gigs. They are wiser now.
@caroljuly A parent who has lost her or his child´s custody is allowed to see the child, eg every second weekend. On the basis of Anette´s blog entries the son lives or stays longer periods with her, so she must share the custody with her ex-husband.
I think Anette missed her son a lot during the long DPP tour. The Imaginaerum tour will be lighter. Also Marco and Jukka have small children and especially Marco has complained several times in public how he misses his family during the long tours.

The feud between the fans of Tarja and Anette is to be expected by now, but comeon. really? Nightwish work VERY hard to get these shows right for their fans. They could earn just as much money with half the quality they give out. What happened then had nothing to do with tarja. Stop mentioning her on vids that have nothing to do with her. Got complaints? here's an idea post it on nightmail for Tuomas to read. respect to Marco for picking up the slack and certain people? Cut Annette some please.
Marco is such a cool dude. All those ungrateful bozos howling after he tries to reassure them that no one knew this was going to happen, and they should just make the best of it. And he still manages to speak respectfully and say, "You're the best," to get these same losers cheering again. Who pays money to see a favorite band and then craps on them like this when they're having a hard time? Seriously.
@AlienAbandoned He called us THE BEST , because we had actually been THE BEST AUDIENCE till that moment! If we had been disrespectful to Anette, all band members would have left the stage along with her. The reason why she left the stage had nothing to do with the audience! USE YOUR BRAINS, folks!

However, I definitely hear some negative howling in the audience, and I realize it may be coming from only a few individuals as opposed to the majority of the audience. It was these people's reaction that I was addressing. I bet there were a lot of wonderful fans in the crowd whose support for the band never wavered.

The reason why Anette lost her son's custody was because she was touring a lot and her husband accused her of shit. Have you ever been on tour? Do you have ANY idea how stressful it can be? Full respect for Marco. He spoke respectfully to the crowd, but completely understood the hardship Annette was dealing with at the time. Top class gentleman right there.

These include too tight schedule, constant comparison of Anette with Tarja, rude behaviour of some people (showing mid-finger, throwing Tarja´s pictures), indiscreet stories in some newspapers. They don´t mention her divorce process which must have increased her unhappiness and stress.

People, Tarja is nevergoing back to nightwish. She was kicked out for a reason and I don't think they'd be willing to let her back now. Nor do I think that she would want to go back. I know Nightwish isn't the same now but they're still awesome. They wouldnt've chosen Anette if she wasn't good. So get used to the new nightwish, it will never change back.

@darkwingx1 I used to think the same way for a looong time. Actually, it took me 4 years to get over a sound change this big. But thinking about it now, I think they made the one possible choice: getting a copycat random opera girl wouldn't had benefit anyone. Nightwish would have become a copy of themselfes, and Tarja would have been reduced to a random singer. This way, Nightwish had the chance to evolve, and progress is the only way to keep a band alive... except for Motörhead ;-)

@astrolifter Not directly, but by condemning Tarja fans he was in a certain way trying to put part of his own fault on Tarja (Annette had been complaining about their neverending tour but he didn't care to listen to her )! The result : a few hours before the concert above she was informed she had lost her son custody to his husband, who had been alledging she was an absent mother! That is sad, but true! But of course Tuomas will never admit that! After being fired, maybe she'll tell the truth!

I was there , on the front row, and I know she walked off the stage for any other reason, except for the audience! There were 3 versions to that history. Anette said it was the fog machine's fault, Tuomas said it was the audience's. I believe in Marko's version!
This has made me so sad. All you haters just leave the poor girl alone. Any human being would crack under the pressures she was facing, not to mention the ribbing she was getting from the crowd. Anette is a lovely person with feelings and emotions too.
See, I think this was very sad, Anette (as you wrote b fore) was going through a hard time and the rest is just immature. See I love Tarja, but I don't know all NW's song, and listening Amaranth with Anette at vocals I loved it not knowing Tarja sung it. the fact is, they're different, special both of them, but some people get used to, and probably in love with Tarja renditions. Just a matter of custom and lack of open mind.

@072085 People were SUPPORTING her, they're chanting "Ah - neh - tchi" - that is how her name sounds in Portuguese ! Anyone who is stating the opposite is a DUMBASS , who thinks the whole world express itself in English. No one called for Tarja then, her supporters stayed at home! Tickets in Brazil cost a lot! No one would be at the concert crying for Tarja surrounded by Anette supporters. Check the first half of the same song, at the same gig, and see how people were very supportive to her!

@emmafellowilll AMEN. I've been a Nightwish fan for 11 years and I think the music is still just as good with Anette as they were with Tarja. Personally, I think she should be given massive credit for bringing her own style instead of trying to outright replace Tarja, and 90% of the time, she pulls it off.
Given that DPP wasn't even written for Anette's voice and it was still awesome, I think Imaginaerium is going to be incredible.
@emmafellowilll Nightwish or any band is not one person, nobody gives a fuck who writes what, it's what it sounds like in the end. Since they started de-tuning & got rid of Tarja they sound different. & they were originally an acoustic project & started playing heavy because of Tarja's voice [Tuomas' own words] so he wrote for, was inspired by & main focus was Tarja. Band is a unit, everybody is important to the overall sound like an ingredient in a recipe. NW sounds like Tarot with ABBA vocals.
i just dont get stupid people, i am a big nightwish fan and a huge tarja turunen and yes i personal think tarja is better but compared to people like lady gaga and the cRAP music that seem to be taking over. up and coming stars like anette are a little ray of hope in the otherwise dark future the music business seems to be heading
I did some research about this and found out that back when this happened Anette had problems with severe nervous break downs and that was why she was crying and had to leave the stage. It wasn't because she hated the people there or she wasn't being professional. It was something she couldn't control. The band wouldn't have picked her if they didn't think she was good enough.

It's amazing how people who claim to really love something will immediately turn on it and want to destroy it the second it doesn't stay exactly the way they want it.
If you really were a fan of the group, you would see them that way--as a group--and realize the hateful bashing effects the whole band--not just one singer.
There are other ways to show a band you want change...writing letters...not buying albums...but to show up at a concert to hate them is sad.
people were not there to hate NW. People came from othes states to this concert. it´s Anette who seemed to hate people there. Everybody was singing and enjoying untill she freaked out. that´s unprofessional!! She is not a good singer and has no sense of profissionalism.

Definitely not the 1st time this kind of things happen in music. Give her a break, it was her 1st world tour with a massive schedule. Besides, the next year (2009) was a really awesome year for them and she improved a lot.
However, if what Tuomas said in an interview is true, I just hope that in the future people don't waste their money to see a band they don't like anymore

Saying that Nightwish sucks now just because Tarja is no longer in the band, is an insult to the other band members. That would mean you only listened to them because of Tarja's voice (which is beautiful, I know) and not because it was well written, recordered and played.

How can people act this way after listening to the Poet and the Pendulum? I mean, I know Tuomas said he wrote this before firing Tarja, but I'd don't think that's completely true... "I cannot cry 'cause the shoulder cries more" I believe we ARE that shoulder! People have to get over the fact that Tarja left, or stop listening to NW once and for all... It was horrible for Anette to be brought down like that and I understand her reaction...

I used to respect her as a person, but not as an artist. There are some video in live where she's crying. If she cannot bear the pressure, she should not be in the band. She sings well, but she has to be stronger than that. I thnik she didn't realised what it was to be part of the band after Tarja. Now, she's aware, and this it a good thing, even if it is the bad way.
Nightwish without Tarja is like Maiden without Bruce, Gun n Roses without Axel, Van Halen without David Lee Roth, same name yes but VERY different sound AND vibe. Kudos to Anette tho..for having the BALLS to fill Tarja's shoes, she's an amazing human being with a great voice but this is like "mission impossible"...just like Blaze Bailey trying to sing Bruce's songs...
Aw, just for the record, another thing I remembered and I thought it was cool haha. After the show, we gathered almost everybody on the internet, and each one wrote a line of support and love to her, and when the guys went to play to the next city in Brazil, Curitiba, we had one of our contacts there to gather all the testimonials together and deliver it to her, and he also sent to us a picture of anette holding all the papers with a smile on her face.. it was so satisfying

She cried because she had just lost her son's custody and got emotional because of the songs' lyrics( "Be still my son.."). She said she was sorry, left the stage without explanations, while people chanted her name in support ( Ahn-neh-tchi _ that's how her name sounds in Portuguese!) Tuomas used that incident to blame Tarja & her fans!

I don't care that they replaced Tarja. Tarja is a great singer...but she's not the -best-. They could have found someone just as good as her, or even better. Anette, unfortunately, is neither of these things. I listen to the newest album and feel sad knowing it could have been so much better if they got a girl who could sing. It's amazing lyrically speaking, but she ruins nearly every song she's on. :/

I love Anette. Poor girl. Sad that she's getting this much hate.
Last time I check it was Tuomas decision of who he would hire to sing and who he would fire (Hiring Anette/firing Tarja). It's not Tarja's band so he doesn't need to change the name or disband. Sure Tarja had a wonderful voice and it's sad to see her go but she's not the whole band.
If you don't like what they become then don't listen to them/Don't buy the CDs/Concert tickets or go listen to Tarja solo albums.
Simple as that. :/

im personally more of a tarja fan. ill admit it. however i prefer her music now that she's gone solo. she writes the music herself and shes more free to do stuff in her own style. i dont like annete's voice, but nightwish has every right to do what they have now as well. they have every right to just as much musical freedom tarja has XD i dont hate annete, i just prefer a different kind of voice for my music :/

I watched both video's, and the only insults i heard where people yelling "Boooo". I didn't hear anyone blame Tarja. When Marko, and Tuomas had to ask Tarja to leave the band, what the heck where they supposed to do?...end Nightwish? I love Anette, she has brought something fresh, and new to the band.

A friend of mine was in the concert and said that a group of fans started screaming "TARJA". I reckon it was very unnecessary since it has been years since Tarja and Nightwish parted ways. People should have been more respectful if they went to a Nightwish concert and not Tarja's concert.

IMO Tuomas´ explanation that several factors contributed to Anette´s collapse in Brazil sounds reasonable. These include the fog machine, stress, exhaustion, some people´s rude bahaviour, so Tuomas doesn´t blame solely Tarja´s fans. Anette´s divorce process must have increased her stress and unhappiness but she obviously shares the son´s custody.
All the band mates approved together the DPP tour schedule and made a collective mistake of accepting too many gigs. They are wiser now.

@caroljuly A parent who has lost her or his child´s custody is allowed to see the child, eg every second weekend. On the basis of Anette´s blog entries the son lives or stays longer periods with her, so she must share the custody with her ex-husband.
I think Anette missed her son a lot during the long DPP tour. The Imaginaerum tour will be lighter. Also Marco and Jukka have small children and especially Marco has complained several times in public how he misses his family during the long tours.

The feud between the fans of Tarja and Anette is to be expected by now, but comeon. really? Nightwish work VERY hard to get these shows right for their fans. They could earn just as much money with half the quality they give out. What happened then had nothing to do with tarja. Stop mentioning her on vids that have nothing to do with her. However, I definitely hear some negative howling in the audience, and I realize it may be coming from only a few individuals as opposed to the majority of the audience. These include too tight schedule, constant comparison of Anette with Tarja, rude behaviour of some people (showing mid-finger, throwing Tarja´s pictures), indiscreet stories in some newspapers. They don´t mention her divorce process which must have increased her unhappiness and stress.

People, Tarja is nevergoing back to nightwish. She was kicked out for a reason and I don't think they'd be willing to let her back now. Nor do I think that she would want to go back. @darkwingx1 I used to think the same way for a looong time. Actually, it took me 4 years to get over a sound change this big. But thinking about it now, I think they made the one possible choice: getting a copycat random opera girl wouldn't had benefit anyone. Nightwish would have become a copy of themselfes, and Tarja would have been reduced to a random singer. This way, Nightwish had the chance to evolve, and progress is the only way to keep a band alive... except for Motörhead ;-)

@astrolifter Not directly, but by condemning Tarja fans he was in a certain way trying to put part of his own fault on Tarja (Annette had been complaining about their neverending tour but he didn't care to listen to her )! The result : a few hours before the concert above she was informed she had lost her son custody to his husband, who had been alledging she was an absent mother! That is sad, but true! But of course Tuomas will never admit that! After being fired, maybe she'll tell the truth!

See, I think this was very sad, Anette (as you wrote b fore) was going through a hard time and the rest is just immature. See I love Tarja, but I don't know all NW's song, and listening Amaranth with Anette at vocals I loved it not knowing Tarja sung it. the fact is, they're different, special both of them, but some people get used to, and probably in love with Tarja renditions. Just a matter of custom and lack of open mind.

@072085 People were SUPPORTING her, they're chanting "Ah - neh - tchi" - that is how her name sounds in Portuguese ! Anyone who is stating the opposite is a DUMBASS , who thinks the whole world express itself in English. No one called for Tarja then, her supporters stayed at home! Tickets in Brazil cost a lot! @emmafellowilll AMEN. I've been a Nightwish fan for 11 years and I think the music is still just as good with Anette as they were with Tarja. Personally, I think she should be given massive credit for bringing her own style instead of trying to outright replace Tarja, and 90% of the time, she pulls it off.
Given that DPP wasn't even written for Anette's voice and it was still awesome, I think Imaginaerium is going to be incredible.

@emmafellowilll Nightwish or any band is not one person, nobody gives a fuck who writes what, it's what it sounds like in the end. Since they started de-tuning & got rid of Tarja they sound different. & they were originally an acoustic project & started playing heavy because of Tarja's voice [Tuomas' own words] so he wrote for, was inspired by & main focus was Tarja. Band is a unit, everybody is important to the overall sound like an ingredient in a recipe. NW sounds like Tarot with ABBA vocals.

i just dont get stupid people, i am a big nightwish fan and a huge tarja turunen and yes i personal think tarja is better but compared to people like lady gaga and the cRAP music that seem to be taking over. up and coming stars like anette are a little ray of hope in the otherwise dark future the music business seems to be heading

I did some research about this and found out that back when this happened Anette had problems with severe nervous break downs and that was why she was crying and had to leave the stage. It wasn't because she hated the people there or she wasn't being professional. It was something she couldn't control. The band wouldn't have picked her if they didn't think she was good enough.

It's amazing how people who claim to really love something will immediately turn on it and want to destroy it the second it doesn't stay exactly the way they want it.
If you really were a fan of the group, you would see them that way--as a group--and realize the hateful bashing effects the whole band--not just one singer.
There are other ways to show a band you want change...writing letters...not buying albums...but to show up at a concert to hate them is sad.

people were not there to hate NW. People came from othes states to this concert. it´s Anette who seemed to hate people there. Everybody was singing and enjoying untill she freaked out. that´s unprofessional!! She is not a good singer and has no sense of profissionalism.

Definitely not the 1st time this kind of things happen in music. Give her a break, it was her 1st world tour with a massive schedule. Besides, the next year (2009) was a really awesome year for them and she improved a lot.
However, if what Tuomas said in an interview is true, I just hope that in the future people don't waste their money to see a band they don't like anymore

Saying that Nightwish sucks now just because Tarja is no longer in the band, is an insult to the other band members. That would mean you only listened to them because of Tarja's voice (which is beautiful, I know) and not because it was well written, recordered and played.

How can people act this way after listening to the Poet and the Pendulum? I mean, I know Tuomas said he wrote this before firing Tarja, but I'd don't think that's completely true... "I cannot cry 'cause the shoulder cries more" I believe we ARE that shoulder! People have to get over the fact that Tarja left, or stop listening to NW once and for all... It was horrible for Anette to be brought down like that and I understand her reaction...

@secret2mistakes Tarja also got a massive head and started threatening to leave the band, because she "doesn't need Nightwish". She thought she WAS the band, even though she wrote practically nothing, and Tuomas and the guys never complained. Firing her was THEIR decision, for THEIR OWN reasons, and if you don't have confidence in the guys who actually DO the writing, then you're the most ignorant of them all.
That said, I think Anette is spectacular.

You like her, whatever, that's you. I'm not whining either, I'm just saying what I think. Also, I do listen to Tarja's solo albums, though I will admit that I only really listen to her solo music because of her voice, not her lyrics

I used to respect her as a person, but not as an artist. There are some video in live where she's crying. If she cannot bear the pressure, she should not be in the band. She sings well, but she has to be stronger than that. I thnik she didn't realised what it was to be part of the band after Tarja. Now, she's aware, and this it a good thing, even if it is the bad way.

Nightwish without Tarja is like Maiden without Bruce, Gun n Roses without Axel, Van Halen without David Lee Roth, same name yes but VERY different sound AND vibe. Kudos to Anette tho..for having the BALLS to fill Tarja's shoes, she's an amazing human being with a great voice but this is like "mission impossible"...just like Blaze Bailey trying to sing Bruce's songs...

Aw, just for the record, another thing I remembered and I thought it was cool haha. After the show, we gathered almost everybody on the internet, and each one wrote a line of support and love to her, and when the guys went to play to the next city in Brazil, Curitiba, we had one of our contacts there to gather all the testimonials together and deliver it to her, and he also sent to us a picture of anette holding all the papers with a smile on her face.. it was so satisfying
