I don't believe that anyone there was claiming that this was supposed to be a gig by the Damned, OK? it was the 2 FOUNDING members of the band celebrating the anniv. of the 1st LP. and by the way, I don't think Rat, Brian, Dave, or Captain really NEED anyone telling them "who the Damned are", they (and all of the other members over the the past 32 years) wrote the songs, made the records, and played the gigs, not you lot.
I'm usually a fan of both the Damned and Casey Chaos' work, but this is just dreadful. Casey's voice is horrible and doesn't fit the Damned's vibe at all.
yeah too right, ist time saw em ,lyceum 5th anaversary gig 1981 /i think with the ruts + anti nowhere league/also met rat in 1982 83 drum clinic marquee bought me a beer signed me damned stuff .i was 16 and nervous with nick mason ian piace mick underwood couldnt give a monkeys bout them rat was the man
NO, NO, NO!! F-OFF! This is NOT the Damned! The Damned has NEVER been without Dave Vanian. The REAL Damned has Dave AND Captain Sensible And they ROCK! See for yourself: www.officialdamned.com
The Damned HAS been without Vanian, how about when Gary Holten sung for them in '77? Great stuff, but the singer fucks up which causes the bass player to fuck up and Brian ends the song early. Did they do any other songs that you can put up? Scabies is my hero.
Sorry, Gary was not a "member" of the Damned, he was just filling in when Dave couldn't make some gigs. It ain't the Damned without Dave Vanian, period. I LOVE Ratty, he's a big influence on my drumming, and I love Brian James, but without Dave...it's the Rat and brian show. NOT THE DAMNED!!
I agree with you, but i didn't say he was a bona-fide 'member'. Rat's a big influence on my drumming too. In my opinion, the 'proper' DAMNED have never sounded better and tighter live than they do currently. Cheers.
You`re right. But this was a one-off to mark 30 years and all that. Not today`s Damned, summat different. But so glad i was there. This was the only video i`m afraid

The Damned were and will always be: Captain, Dave, and Rat - together. Without one of them, something is lacking.

Cool to see Brain James playing live again. I wish someone would post footage of the ill-informed 2001 - 2002 Lords of the New Church reunion tour.
