I have a very complicated question (for advanced users only) relating to SimCity 4. I have a very well-established region of over 2.2 million people with several large cities. My two largest currently have populations of over 260,000 and over 320,000 respectively with overmmercial and 50,000 industrial in both. Lately, the RCI demand has been negative for most areas but high-tech industry or low-medium wealth commercial services. But the past 2 days ALL 13 bars on the RCI demand are NEGATIVE!...

Start with busses in your heavy crowded "getto" and dont have too many busstops try to have logic in them. If the bus takes too long driving you will never get good commute's.

Railroads are almost completely unnecessary. Any rail is too much rail. It should only be used for aesthetics, to tie an industrial area together.
They do serve as industrial demand cap breakers, but roads and seaports do the same thing. Fuck railroad.
It's a neat thing, though, that you have a literal wrong side of the tracks. I've noticed that you've pluralized jails, however. I have a city with a massive crime problem, but the jail only has 180 inmates. This is odd.
Your idea of setting up neighbour cities is wonderful, but the grid system and zone distribution you are using leaves it open to the infinite commute bug.
Taxes should never be lowered to one nor zero on anything. As I've stated previously, consistency is best for growth when it comes to tax policies. You'll also want to be making money off of the tenants of your cities.
This video also fails to cover a general strategy to apply to all cities, it just seems to be an expose on your style.
Landfills are also way too expensive for a beginning city. It is easier to simply set up a neighbouring industrial city to drum up demand, and have a low-funded garbage burning plant there. The neighbour deal then becomes very cheap.
Libraries, museums, and colleges aren't very important in the long run either. Perhaps once the surplus is greater than 1500 simoleons, it's a good way to offset it, but they are definitely not vital to any city.
This has inefficient zoning which employs excessive amounts of avenues and highways but fails to effectively keep traffic down. Furthermore, raising taxes to 12% anywhere will cause a decrease in demand in all surrounding cities. Consistent tax policies are much better.
Why use a polluting plant such as an oil plant when you can save so much on coal?
Also, Landmarks are much more expensive than Marinas and are inferior in terms of the benefits.
If you're starting a city from scratch with no neighboring cities, go by the guide. Industry, low-density residential, coal plant, a little commercial. Build up from there. 85 percent of the cities I've tried to build up like this have failed, it may work but its not done right and it looks like shit.

First, make a small city, make alot of Power Plants(coal plants cause they are cheaper and more efficent), make water towers or pomps, and finally make some Landfills there. This is the city you gonna take Power, Water from and the place where your garbage is going to be. Your main city needs industry only for more population, after it raches like 30k ppl, you can start demolish the industry and start commercial zoning.

@kkcuty46 u put the taxes up to about8.5 and remember 4x4squares. another way is to make more agriculture and parks and trees because they don't like the pollution. dont have to much dirty industry. if u have vacant (black) buildings, demolish them and then the demad may go up quite a bit. one more thing is to delete other cities in the region so the sims dont have anywhere else to move to but ur city. these are the things i did and im very seccessful i hoped this helped. reply bck for more help

Not really a good tutorial. boring city too, your placing everything in a 4x4 grid. I never seen a real city build like that. Yes you can get more population in then my cities, you probably won't since you mix dirty industry in it. Is it fun? Not for me, i like variation and fun, playfull layouts.

Education is the key for getting skyscrapers. keeping them educated will make them rich getting a score of 180+ on education on the graph will give you a good result and make your sims rich. and for you to afford the education cost is "by adjusting the education budget of each establishment JUST ENOUGH for how many students they have".
here is d explanation 4 this. the more educated your sims r the higher salary they recieve and the wealthier they become.
no wonder if other player try this method.. they will end up in huge debt..

I understand how the demands grow and how sims develop. there are several mistakes on this tutorial or probably not written on this video. somehow this tutorial is good enough for making a metropolis but not for a healthy city

It's funny how you managed to truncate the process of creating a successfully balanced SimCity, a process which can take weeks when done properly, taking other cities and the region into account, into only TEN MINUTES! If this is how you play SimCity then you shouldn't be playing SimCity.

@xPGPRoDiGy97 To reduce the amount of time, make sure you have the demand for high tech. Check your RCI graph. If there is demand for High-Tech, pause, and dezone your industrial completely. Raise taxes of Dirty Industry and everything else except for High tech. Create a new zone near your residential and voila!

Education is the key for getting skyscrapers. keeping them educated will make them rich getting a score of 180+ on education on the graph will give you a good result and make your sims rich. and for you to afford the education cost is "by adjusting the education budget of each establishment JUST ENOUGH for how many students they have".
here is d explanation 4 this. the more educated your sims r the higher salary they recieve and the wealthier they become.

I'm a SimCity 4 pro Mayor and i have been playing this game for 5yrs on and off and I could say that I mastered how this game works. I understand how the demands grow and how sims develop. there are several mistakes on this tutorial or probably not written on this video. somehow this tutorial is good enough for making a metropolis but not for a healthy city

I can't believe out of all of YouTube, no one's ever decided to make any of the Pokemon regions into SimCity 4. If I was still into Pokemon now, I would've made Johto and Kanto, myself.

It's funny how you managed to truncate the process of creating a successfully balanced SimCity, a process which can take weeks when done properly, taking other cities and the region into account, into only TEN MINUTES! If this is how you play SimCity then you shouldn't be playing SimCity.

Ugh! I can't do this! I've tried using this method 10,000 times and it never works! I always go bankrupt, even on easy levels. You need to explain more in this tutorial, like how do you get those 20,000 people inside the city? Without losing all your money? Someone please help... I've wasted days trying this method! What am i doing wrong??? Did this happen to anyone else?

I just got the game today. Every time I start, it automatically makes me start with only 2 tutorials, and $100,000. I have no difficulty option to change and get more money to start with. Does anyone know if there is a fix to this? Or if I am maybe doing something wrong?

@xPGPRoDiGy97 To reduce the amount of time, make sure you have the demand for high tech. Check your RCI graph. If there is demand for High-Tech, pause, and dezone your industrial completely. Raise taxes of Dirty Industry and everything else except for High tech. Create a new zone near your residential and voila!
