I am certainly not going to sit and argue with you about it because as usual you guys are always right. I'm pretty sure I said nothing about cutting the ENTIRE admin & closing the CO. Instead, before threatening the voters with teacher cuts, closing schools, etc.. try looking at the money you spend on administration at ALL of these schools. Try cutting some fat out of the administration. Do these schools really need 5 assistant principals? Everyone needs a secretary? Counselors too? Come on.
@r71cuda You're right, let's not argue. You may see what looks like a lot of people in a high school office ... but there's 2,500-3,000 students in some schools. So yes, with large numbers of students we need 5 asst. principals and secretaries. They manage all of those students, their data, their activities and their requests. With fewer people, everything that students and parents want taken care of from discipline issues to transcript requests would take longer or wouldn't get done.
Try cutting administration instead of teachers! How many assistant principals & counselors & secretaries does one high school need for crying out loud!
This district needs to be split and you need to stop with the threats to teachers and closing schools to get your levy's passed. It is getting old!!!
@r71cuda OK, let's imagine it's even legal to cut the entire administration and just close the central office. Congrats, you've saved $12 million. The levy renewal is $48 million – just $36 million more to cut to balance the budget. Splitting the school district is actually more expensive because separate districts each have overhead costs: Payroll departments, school boards, transportation departments, etc. Finally, our student-to-counselor ratio 500-600 kids to 1 counselor.
